I hope you don't mind that I post this here, I just need prayers fro my grandson & I did not see anywhere else to post this. Just when ya think things are running smoothly .... It tears me up as I am typing this.
Poor Zachary, now 20 months old, has been hospitalized yesterday evening. Everything happened so quickly.
I could hear him playing & laughing in the background as I talked to my daughter on the phone yesterday morning. He played, like normal. He took a nap, like normal. 10 minutes after he woke up, he had a fever over 102. Then became dazed. No movement, nothing. When my daughter called the hospital, they told her to call 9-1-1-now!! He never budged or put up a fight when they were strapping him into the gurney. He was in & out of it, basically.
They think he had some kind of seizure (not the kind that makes you shake, and I am so tired I cannot think of the name of it). It happened again after a CT Scan, the nurse shook his shoulders to snap him out of it. Very frightening.
His white cells are elevated. They ran the least painful tests firsts to eliminate the possibilities - from x-rays, swabs, and blood-drawn (3 times) and two catheters (omg, poor thing). The dr says whatever it is, it's viral. He also thought all the symptoms (not eating much, and other minor things) we were telling him might lead to him having Meningitis. The only way to know for sure is through a Spinal Tap. This was one Hell of an excruciating painful test I wish on nobody, let alone my poor little grandson!! I am crying again just going back to that moment. I'd give anything for that to have been me!!
Well, it turns out he does not have Meningitis. Thank God!!! They are keeping him there until the remaining tests come back from the spinal fluid. maybe he'll be released by Xmas Eve.
I am back at my house for the time being. I know Zachary loved it when I was there, and I brought him a "goody bag", but Mom & Dad are with him, and he needs his rest. He screams bloody murder every time a nurse walks in the room. He's terrified of them now. I just want to bring him home. It broke my heart to leave him there. I cried the whole 45 minutes home, all the tears I was holding inside.
I hope & pray that they find out what is making him so ill and that it is treatable. And I pray he doesn't need any more needles in him, other than the IV.
I wasn't going to tell anyone this, because the holidays, ya know? But Zachary sure could use some prayers.
My daughter on Gaia is Adriana_Hart, she is being strong for him & is a wonderful mother.

As soon as I posted this, my daughter called me. The hospital had "Secret Santas" giving gifts to the children in the hospital. I could hear Zachary playing with his new hammer toy (right up his alley) so that's a good sign, right?
It's weird, because as I left the hospital, I saw a bunch of people in santa hats down in the lobby area. I had no idea what they were there for, I assumed there was a xmas party going on. That was so sweet of them!!

Zachary was released yesterday late morning. His back is still very sore. he walked like an old man hunched forward and very slowly. So sad.
Late last night, around 10 pm or so, I got a phone call. He was walking towards his mom & his legs gave out on him & he collapsed to the floor. He wasn't crying, so I think that was a good sign. However, he couldn't even crawl, he was literally scooching on the floor on his belly. I told her he probably did too much and didn't get enough bed rest. But there could have also been damage to the spine from the procedure. My husband called our hospital here in Texas & she called 2 different hospitals there in Louisiana. All 3 said to bring him in.
As soon as he was registered, he wanted out of her lap & started walking around as if nothing happened. So they were released. Thank God for miracles heart
I am waiting to hear from her this morning to see how he did during the night.
We still don't have the answers, we just know what it isn't. It's viral, whatever it is. He's on antibiotics to treat it. He still gets fevers. I just hope his back stops hurting him soon. It breaks my heart to see him in so much pain crying
