I started off using SUSE and I didn't like it, I wanted a linux distro aimed at ease of use. Well, im wanting a more lightweight version of Ubuntu, so I tried to install LXDE. Well, the network manager for it sucks for me, so I am downloading Xubuntu. But I want gentoo, is it available for the i386 architecture? Im using an Acer Aspire 5610.

Gentoo is available for pretty much any architecture you can find. The only distro with more supported architectures is Debian.

Gentoo was first developed for i386, though now most of the developers have moved to x86_64.

Lolwut?

Gentoo isn't exactly "easy."

But Sitwon is right - it does support all x86 targets. It also supports ARM, Sparc, Itanium, PPC (including older Macs and PS3), and many other platforms. Asking if Gentoo can run on it is like asking if humans can breathe.

I have recently found that I like Archlinux, it is relatively easy to install (the install process is a lot like Slackware's if that means anything to you). One good thing they do is even though they are a rolling release, they also make it easy to roll back a release just in-case you make a n00b move and break something you are always able to roll back with pacman. The only thing I don't like is their LXDE port is, lack of better words, horrible.
