Gryphon Gate is a bit different than Phoenix and Dragons gate as it doesn't feature your traditional roleplaying. It's more promo based where you can hone your promo skills. A promo battle if you will, for those of you familiar with
PWA , Gryphon Gate is similar to it.
I've copied and edited some rules from the PWA and applied them to Gryphon.
Rules, Guidelines and Suggestions to make your experience here the best it can be! (If you have ANY questions, concerns or need clarification, PM me)
Note; to succeed here means you’re goal oriented and someone who loves to G-fed. Don’t join if you’re looking for quick, easy victories and expect to win every week! I expect active boards and strong role playing from those who want to advance and become champions! I have numerous years experience both competing and running E-feds and G-feds, and believe the best feds have strong, creative players deciding the direction of storylines! Bring your A-Game!
First and VERY IMPORTANT RULE: Failure to read and understand the rules will not constitute an excuse to complain about a match outcome.
JOINING Gryphon GateGryphon Gate is the 3rd Brand of Hammer Lock Pro Wrestling, but it is the most grueling. Because it is promo based. When you reach the end of your application, choose a show to compete on, either Dragons Gate, Gryphon or Phoenix Gate. You will then be placed exclusively on that show. However, if you wish to compete three times a week on a regular basis, choose 'ALL'. You may switch to the other roster any time you choose, just give the staff of both shows a heads up in a PM or on the OOC board so they know to prepare for you.
ROLE PLAY RULES! We accept FANTASY characters ONLY, no Hogans, Cenas, or other real wrestlers are allowed. Hammer Lock Pro Wrestling may recognize other Gaia based wrestling promotions, but for Gryphon Gate we try to limit that. So if there's no need to mention another promotion DON'T Mention it.
DEADLINES.(Note: ALL listed times are Eastern Standard Time, even if not specifically noted)
1. Role-playing begins for a show when the card is announced. If a show is late for any reason getting posted, I will create shows that have as little spoilage as possible and post, and thus RPing officially begins.
2. Gryphon Gate has deadlines (Yes Deadlines) and they are as follows: First deadline is at 12 Midnight EST on Tuesday and the last deadline is at 12 Midnight EST on Saturday. (A leeway of about 10 minutes will be granted at each deadline....just don't abuse this.)
Meaning if you don't post and your opponent does, You lose.
3. Strats that involve how a match is written are due by the first deadlines Segments to add to the shows are due by the second deadline.
5. Only one RP per person on Friday. If in a tag team and you've posted a co-rp under one person's name, you may post a co-rp under the other person's name.
6. Bubble Rule. On Saturday, if you wait to post your response to your opponent's last RP after 8pm EST, then your opponent will be granted an extension to 12noon EST the next day. As long as they have NOT already done a Saturday RP.
7. NEW RULE: IF, by the first deadline neither side in a match has RPed, then they both have till the second deadline to post. This includes Champions.
8. CHAMPIONS who fail to RP for a title match, will lose their title. Ways they lose the title: If their opponent Rps, they get the belt. If their opponent is a current champion, a secondary angle will be implemented. Champions who do not contact me in any shape or form before the final deadline to explain themselves, lose the right to a rematch.
9. When extending a deadline with an opponent, The bosses of the show must be informed. If they don't know of this and the deadlines roll around, if a match is put together with the angled title change, it sticks!
10. Rumbles, like the Battle Royal seen at NoC will have lax deadline rules, but those who do not RP by the first Deadline will have their first RP counted as 1/2!
11. If an ANGLED match agreed by all parties includes a Title Change, then all parties HAVE to RP at least once per match, or I will not allow the angle to happen!
12. ALL Role-plays MUST be posted on the forums. If you want to create a link to your own site, that's fine, but you must also copy it to the forums directly. This is for two reasons. 1) we preserve a history of rps, in case your links ever expire and 2) if your server crashes when we go to read rps to make decisions and we can't read yours; it won't count.
13. Finally; use common sense on rps and rules, especially concerning Fridays and Multi-team/person matches!
ADDITIONAL ROLE PLAY RULES!
1. On-cards (backstage interviews, story advancement segments) may influence a decision IF by reading the RPs alone does not afford a quick decision. Basically, if you and your opponent did excellent work, and we’re stuck on who to give the nod too, your extra effort to add to the actual show may .. MAY… give you the tip.
2. Excessive vulgarity should be avoided as much as possible. We have people here that may not be of legal age and I do not want to have to deal with any "legal" issues.
3. No attacking ANY other wrestler or their valet?s, managers in your role-play unless you post an OOC comment saying you got permission from their handler.
4. I judge role plays ONLY on the content of the written word. Not on music, graphics or anything else. I appreciate the efforts many people put in to spice up their rps. But a win or a loss will be given based on how well you present your character to me, how you present your arguments to your opponent and an over all effort to create heat for the match.
4. IMPORTANT: Over all, this is a game based on OPINIONS. You may lose a match where you HONESTLY believe you did better, but overall, the decision is MINE.. You applied in my fed, to abide by my decisions.
MATCH WRITING RULES 1. Deadline to submit completed matches is 12 noon EST on the day of the show. Matches not taken or received will be recapped.
2. Do not CODE your matches, the program will auto code them when the shows are posted.
3. Spell Check, for the love of all that is holy, SPELL CHECK!
5. All matches happen in 'Present Tense'. Meaning, don't write a line like this; 'And Scottie backed King Agony into the ropes, then whipped him across the ring.' It SHOULD read; "And Scottie backs King Agony into the ropes, then whips him across the ring.'
4. For any and all speaking parts (announcers, backstage segments, characters, use : after name. Example - Brian Rentfro: )
5. See the match writing rules in the match writing threads for the character staff of each show. Announcers and so on.
6. Use complete entrances if you write a FULL match.
7. Write separate endings for each competitor. If its a rumble, or other major match, talk it over with the show's staff prior to writing it.
