Captain Dastardly is far too poor to afford Steam Punk.

I would say that 9 barely constitutes steampunk. Lemme go try to find the best picture of it I've seen... Yesss...But I'd say that steampunk is just today's world based on steam power. It's like modern technology meets victorian style and steam.

I've seen the trailer for Nine, but not the actual movie. So I've seen the girls and the way they dress.
I like the way it sounds, if your description is true. But I'm still not sure how I could dress up like that. I could probably manage plain punk, if that's close enough....*sigh* i'm good at fashion (if you hadn't noticed)

I must say, Captain Dastardly's definition did work quite well.
My avi is steampunk at the moment.
But really, some black and/or brown noob clothes and goggles or an eyepatch, I'd say thats an easy steampunk avi right there.
And Dastardly, just grab some goggles and you could be a steampunk-ish pirate!

i looked it up, and...
steampunk 8D
"Steampunk is a loose term used to describe an extraordinary fashion trend. By remixing styles from the Victorian era, classic Goth, gypsy, and industrial fetish, steampunk fashion creates a unique and beautifully disturbing look."
i'm not sure why they call it steampunk, but from what i know, i reeeally like it.
