Abilities-
-Shunko:
The technique derived by flash master Yoruichi, which is a combination of Hado and bakudo. It was passed on to Soi Fon, who in-turn passed it to Tai
-"Hanki" (Reverse Demon): This technique nullifies an opponent's kidō by hitting them with a perfectly opposite surge of energy. Yoruichi uses this against Soifon's shunkō.
Note: Also while no incantation exists, this Kidō requires immense ability, focus and skill to use. It can only work against those of close or less Reitsu level than the user.
-Shihou Black ops step Technique 3: Molting Cicada.
This is an illusionary technique that lets the enemy believe they have wounded The user. But by exchanging his self with a piece of garment, the user can escape the Fatal wound unharmed.
All of these abilities were tauught to him by his father who was the previous Captain of the 2nd Division.
Niko is also a well rounded swordsman, efficient in the sword arts of Kendo and Laido, and multiple variations of each.

Personality:
Niko can be cold and ruthless at times, but when he is in a good mood, which is pretty often, he's fine to be around. He isn't very talkative unless he's used to the people he's around. He's suave around women, and doesn't take kindly to being talked down upon.
He is very Confident is his own abilities, and doesn't ever underestimate his opponents. He also holds a vendetta like no other, and will not hesitate to make one against anyone who crosses him.

About Zanpakuto Spirit:
Akaishisi is a proud spirit with the temper of hornet. He and Niko share relationship based on mutual respect. Having bested Akaishishi in fair combat, Niko earned Akaishishi respect. And Akaishishi earned Niko's by giving him a damn good fight. The two think alike, and hate to lose so they work together quite well.

-Hilt an gurad remian the same(reference pic), But blade takes on a black and silver appearance like most Zonpaktou.
Shikai Ability:
The ability to summon, and completely manipulate red lightning. This lightning ca be used to attack, and defend Niko. Red lighting can also be channled from the blade, surrounding it, and adding extra damage to all attacks.
Attacks: (Max of 3)
Shred:
-From the blades edge, multiple bolts of deep red light strike out at the enemy viciously like the claws of a lion. Each strikes damage is equivilent to double that of a captain class Byakurai.
Roar:
-Red lighting seems to pour from the blade as Niko slashes, sending a wave of electricity whose diameter increase greatly depending on the amount of power that is used to fuel the attack.

Bankai Ability:
In his Bankai, Niko can call upon Akaishishi Raijin, Akaishishi's true form. The giant lion, made up of entirely of deep red lightning, strikes down its foes with unparralled speed, and devistating destructive force. Each of its lightning attacks are 3x the strnegth of the Hado #88 Hiryugekizokushintenraiho (飛竜撃賊震天雷砲, Flying Dragon-Striking Heaven-Shaking Thunder Cannon)
Attacks
-In this Bankai form it retains all of its shikai attacks, but are substantially more powerful. Also, the attacks are performed by Akaishishi in this form. The actuall sword can only channel electricity and attack with weaker attacks.
-Akaishishi can summon, and maniputlate Red lightning at its will to attack and defend successfully.

Biography:
Niko was born in the rukongai district of soul society, the son of Tai Kuromaru and Kaoru Karama. His father raised him to be a strong fighter, teaching him everything he knew about combat. He also taught him the way of the sword and spear so that when Niko went to the Academy he'd be ahead of the other students. As a boy Niko had a strong unpleasant reiatsu, and a temper to match. His father knew this and tried to keep it controlled and coneald as much as possible. When Niko was fianlly of age to join the Academy, his father suddenly vanished, leaving Niko and his mother alone. Niko cursed his father, and vowed to only become shinigami so that one day he'd become strong enough to kill the man who abandoned them.
He has become quite the fighter, and is ready to become a captain. He see's this as a test to see if he is ready to take on his father, and end his life long vendetta so that he can live normally. He knows though, that this feat will not come easily.

Yes the 8th divisionis open.. its the 9th and the 2nd that I'm unsure of. The 9th's captain hasn't officially been approved.. and the 2nd doesn't have a captains name, but Kit has set it up.. but I'll set up the 8th once I get home from work.. and I need crew permitions, and Kuromaru added to the Subforum on 8, please and thank u
