Welcome, Romance-seekers, to the city of Vinay del Zexay. As you enter, the first thing you may notice is that the cityscape is almost perfectly laid out. Before you spreads the epitome of romantic settings, a city built atop dozens of interconnecting aqueducts in the midst of a massive, slow-moving river. It's the mother of all places built only for the nurturing and development of that beautiful emotion called Love.
Amour is the game we play here, and our goal is simply to fulfill even our wildest romantic dreams.
Try not to get caught up in the current, though.
While Love may be a popular concept here, Heartbreak is a tune too often sung by those who got carried away.

Vinay del Zexay is a large city built on top of a system of aqueducts.
The usual mode of transport within the city is by boat, as there are no roads, but rather a system of wide canals.
On both sides of every canal-way in the city, there are walkways--built of both stone and wood--that make travel by foot possible as well.
Small three-to-four person-wide bridges cross over the canals as regulated intervals, built high enough that boats and such are able to pass under them.
Cafes and shops line many of the canal-ways and such.
In the center of the city, a large circular aqueduct provides a huge platform, in the center of which is a massive fountain.
For residents of the city, homes are dispersed throughout, some among the shopping districts, some in the central plaza, most along the canal-ways where shops are less common.

Amazingly, Vinay del Zexay is still expanding, a little at a time.
The city has two main entrances:
Two humongous bridges extend from the east and west borders of the city, reaching all the way to the banks of the river on either side.
Occasionally people will enter the city by boat, as the canals do eventually open straight up to the river, but it's not very often.
Set In Stone!
The Major Landmarks of Vinay del Zexay are these:
Cafe de Ama - a huge, two/three-story cafe. This place has everything you can imagine, so long as it isn't fast food! Coffees, teas, soft drinks, cakes, pies, and pastries galore! Upstairs is an open eating area with various seating arrangements, even a balcony! And outside is the trellis for enjoying your visit outdoors. On the roof of the cafe is a large garden, commonly called "Ama's Tea Garden" because of the variety of plants that are grown (mostly tea plants). On top of the actual roofing is a thick layer of grass. Trees grow out of very large, secured boxes that were made specifically to accommodate the continued growth of the trees for a very long time. The trees' branches extend out beyond the roof of the cafe and provide shade for part of the canal, walkway, and the balcony.
Fountaine l'Amour - the massive fountain in the center of the city. It's made entirely of stone, and takes up a very large amount of space in the central plaza. It's a four-level fountain, each level being a large basin with eloquent carvings. The bottom level is square, the second round, the third triangular. The fourth is very small compared to the others, and round. From the four corners of the square level, stairs rise up and give access to a platform that's built out from the corners around of third level. At night, the fountain is lit with lights of all colors and from the fourth level of the fountain rises a huge spray of water that creates a massive squared dome over the platform. (A very common location for wooing. o3o)
More to be added. :3 Seven needs help coming up with them all.

The rules are simple:
1. Follow the ToS. 2. No cybering. And I mean it. Take it offsite or whatever. -gag- 3. Romance is mandatory. o3o 4. Violence is.. okay to an extent: you can get into a fight, but don't go crazy. This is a romance subforum, not a scary fight club. D: 5. All species welcome. Except for Twilight vampires. : It's too sunny here for them. 6. Because the Rose Garden is specified for straight romance, I can't allow yaoi or yuri. My apologies. Hurr hurr! There was a major clarification here! Yaoi and yuri are allowed. o3o They just can't dominate the roleplay. 8. Number of characters is not limited. Just don't have so many that you can't keep up with them all. 7. Post your profile in the Profile thread that will be up in the City Hall. ....... - Use the following format for your profile. o3o
Username: Character Name: Age: Sex: Sexuality: Job: (optional) Species: Resident?: Yes/No Moderate description of personality: Appearance: [description/image/tektek] Interested in Anyone Specific Yet?: Yes/No

 Only the Best
Vinay del Zexay has an aristocratic system of leadership.
Living in the Central Plaza area is costly and weighted with the responsibilities of being one of the elite who helps maintain and preserve order in the city.
There are very few regular citizens who live in the Central Plaza area, and most of them live near the outer edge.
The highest of the aristocrats live closer to the Fountaine l'Amour, and as rank lowers, the distance from the fountain rises.
The higher aristocrats of Vinay are charged with writing and coordinating the laws of the city. They are also expected to attend service at the Altar more-so than others (for Altar, see "Gift of the Goddess" post below).
The lower aristocrats vote on the higher-ups' laws and are also charged with monitoring the city's income and expenditures along with preserving order among the ordinary citizens. There are also high expectations of them concerning service at the Altar.
To be an Aristocrat, you must be a mod or ask me directly. Only mods can be Higher Aristocrats.

"The Gift of the Goddess" Orleane the Golden
Vinay del Zexay is not a particularly religious city, but a weekly ceremony is held to honor a single "supreme being".
The Vinay's history suggests that a woman, Orleane, who lived over a thousand years ago helped to protect and nurture the city's growth. There is no record of how old she was or lived to be, but legend says that she was forever youthful and never truly aged. According to some historical accounts and legends, after the was deemed safe and peaceful, the "Goddess" took an unfortunate fall and drowned in the canal. There is no account of finding her body, though, and she has no grave...
Because of her deeds for the city, the woman named as the city's saint. Years and years after her misfortune, she dubbed as a Godddess.
An Altar was constructed in her name near the center of the city and statues carved in her likeness adorn buildings throughout it.
Services are held at the Altar once every week. Attendance is usually mandatory for Aristocrats. Visitors and citizens can opt not to, though it is suggested that they at least visit the Altar once on their own time.
It is said that a person who bears the same features as the Goddess is blessed with good fortune in life and love... But there are whispers of a curse..

((Hurr hurr! Finally, the first roleplaying post of Vinay del Zexay! -dancedance-))

Nelle "Seven" Kuromo
Sunlight shined effortlessly onto Cafe de Ama, the mid-afternoon light filtering softly down onto the balcony through the leaves of the trees that grew on the building's roof. Boats were gliding along the canal and people were passing by at a simple pace. Some would stop to enter the cafe, enticed by sights and scents of freshly-baked pastries.
On the balcony, beneath the tree-filtered light of the sun, sat Seven Kuromo, who had decided to visit the cafe on her day off. A tray sat on the small table in front of her, adorned with two apple turnovers and a mug of cold peach-mango black tea. Aside from Seven, the balcony was empty. Most people were sitting on the first-floor trellis, or enjoying the view from the tea garden on the roof. Seven preferred the balcony, with its view of the canal-ways and the shade of the trees on the roof.
Seven brushed her hair away from her face and drank some of her tea, watching the people wander by below.

Another day in the town of Vinay del Zexay ment another day of paperwork, paperwork, and more paperwork. Those things being the very things which Leon, was hopeing to escape from when he left his Office in the Guild Council of which all the Aristocrats of Power gathered to run the lovely town. He was going to go to one of his favorite places in town to spend some time, sure some people loved the Canals and the Fountian. But those were things he saw so often from even his own home placed directly near the Inner Circle closest to the Fountian. No, what he was going to was the Cafe de Ama, he was a very good client and often made generous donateions to the establishment. As such he was treated very well there, more so than simply because of his title as Prime Minister, thats right, Leon was one of the most high ranking members of the Aristocracy.
If one were to be watching from the balcony, Leon's favorite place to eat, and watch the people pass they would notice that people got out of a certiant individual's way as he made his way past them, a man clad in fancy clothing and trimmed in red with a head of silky, ashy blonde hair. Of corse, he'd then dissaper into the building where he was greeted kindly and shown to the balcony where he sat himself down while ordering peppermint tea and a pumpkin scone before he ordered his acctual meal. Leon, then noticed he wasn't the only person on the balcony, most people perfered the lowwer quarters for eating but it seemed someone else had his taste in scenery. Leon, wasn't so selfish that he wished to have an entire section to himself, no he liked the company though he didn't speak to them outright, he thought that was rude.

Seven recognized the man trimmed in red easily. He had visited often on days when she'd been working, though she had never personally interacted with him. Vinay's Prime Minister amazed her--he was so young to have a title so important! Not only that, but he was also quite handsome; moreso than most, she had to admit. When she realized what her thoughts had turned to, though, Seven shook her head at herself.
Seven picked up one of her turnovers and took a bite of the savory pastry. She tried to keep her eyes focused on the world beyond the balcony, watching the people pass by and the boats glide along the canal, but she couldn't help but glance over at the Prime Minister. She smiled at her own childishness and leaned back in her chair, looking up at the trees that reached out from Ama's Tea Garden above the balcony.

He was brought his tea and scone on a tray by a lovely woman with long red hair and who smelt of lilacs, very nice lady but he really didn't care for Red Heads romanticaly. An odd quirk of his. He took up the tea pot and poured the wonderful tea into the cup before setting the pot aside and takeing a sip of tea from the cup. How he loved the taste of peppermint tea, this place made the very best in the whole town. He sat down the cup just in time to see the blond woman look at him, if only for a passing moment. He chuckled under his breath as he took in the amazing view.
That wasn't the view of the balcony either, no he was bluntly looking the girl over. She passed and there was something about her he really liked. "Its a pretty day isn't it? For once after a long time it isn't going to rain." He smiled and took a bite of his delectable scone, it was divine in its simple decadence, much like that lovely lady though he dare not compare ladies to food.

Seven blinked up at the trees and watched from the corner of her eye as one of the women she sometimes worked with served the Prime Minister, then focused back on the leaves of the tree. She continued to glance back over at him regularly. At one moment, she thought that she'd accidentally made eye-contact with him, and therefore stopped herself from looking back over at him.
Seven nearly jumped out of her skin when he spoke to her, and she almost forgot to respond. Oh, she was going to look like a fool! The turnover she'd been cradling in her hands was set back down on her plate, and Seven finally turned a soft smile on the man. "It is very pretty out, today. I was afraid the sun might never shine again." She took a moment to get a better look at him, then, surveying the Prime Minister's handsome features before shifting her vision out over the canal-way in front of the cafe.

It seemed the lady had just as much of an interest in the beauty of things than he did, she also seemed to like to look him over. He didn't mind in the slightest of corse. He looke up at the sky then at the scenery and realized how horrible it would be if that were true. "Yes, I feared the same thing. That the Sun wouldn't ever shine and we'd be stuck in a beautiful yet dreary town." He took a sip of tea. "But thank goodness it isn't true." Upon further inspection he came to realization and was baffeled it took him so long, he went to the Altar daily. "Miss...you know you look alot like the Goddess?" He blinked at her, looking slightly dumbstruck.
Her hair, her face, her body structure, why all she needed was a sword and he doubted he'd see the difference, it was both thrilling and scary for the Prime Minister. He'd never seen anyone resemble the Goddess that closely before in his life, no wonder he found her attractive at first glance.

"This place just wouldn't be the same without sunlight," she admitted, finishing one of her turnovers. She was glad that this place was almost always sunny. The people could always depend on the sun to come back out eventually. She sipped at her own tea and watched the Prime Minister.
"People tell me often that I resemble her," Seven answered. She brushed some her blond hair away from her face, then reached down to smooth out her knee-length skirt. She felt slightly uncomfortable, now, just as she always did when someone brought up her similarities to the Goddess, Orleane. She could never really say why she was so uncomfortable about it. She just was.

She seemed to be made uncomfortable by his statement, perhaps she felt odd about the idea of herself resembleing a great and powerful figure like the Goddess, it would be a hard mantel to uptake and quite a shadow to live under. He chuckled as he experienced the same thing when his Father was prompting him to be Prime Minister. He took a sip of tea as he calmed himself down, looking at the Canals for a moment before speaking with her. "I'm sorry, I don't mean to make you uncomfortable."
He looked over at her and smiled his charming smile at her. "I was just rather dumbstruck for a moment. Forgive me. It hasn't happened often to me." He took another sip of tea before looking out towards the people passing by. "I've gotten used to watching people pass by me, their looks of both gratitude and anger, for what I do not know either way but what I do know is this... everyone has something that people either enjoy or hate, perhaps everyone loves the way you look and you dislike it." He said in a serene voice.

Seven stopped smoothing out her skirt and stared over at the Prime Minister for a long moment. The way he spoke, it seemed to he understood the position she was put in whenever someone compared her to the Goddess. That put her more at ease in the man's company; she relaxed in her seat, lifting her mug to sip at her own tea.
"It's not like that, really. I don't dislike the way I look at all." She paused to think of a good way to describe it. "It's just that, for some reason, I don't feel right about people talking about it. And there are people who don't seem to like the fact that I'm so similar to her." She tightened her hold on the mug in her hands and looked down at the people passing below. It was scary to think of it that way sometimes.
