I'm going to be revising just about everything guys! This pack is going to be formed by escapees from Westfall, for one thing, which means I won't make it official until December or later, after some major plot stuff goes down. whee

... I came up with a name yesterday, but now I forgot it again. :(

Coat Color
Pelt color has no bearing on a dragon's rank, however natural colors are generally considered to be "prettier" than bright colors.

Magic
Most dragons in the pack aren't 100% sure if this is real or not. Opinions vary widely, from those who fear magic to those who want to possess it with every inch of their being. If there are any magic-users in the pack, they are well hidden.

Relationships
Male-male and female-female bonds are strongly encouraged, although male-female relationships are tolerated as long as they are discrete. Most male-female encounters are purely for the sake of making children, although both partners must agree to this.

Violence
This isn't tolerated. Anybody who attacks a pack member - male or female - faces getting shunned at best, outright banished at worst. Attacking an outsider is a slightly different matter, although unprovoked attacks will still be treated severely.

Females
It's not that males are better, it's just that females are capricious, untrustworthy, and all around terrifying. It's better for everybody involved if males and females live apart, although the females are welcome to stay nearby as long as they never go past the mid-caves (with the exception of the Speaker, of course).

I'm not very happy with the rank names and open to suggestions. confused

King (1/1)
The King is the leader of the pride. His word is absolute law, although he usually consults the council before making any important decisions.

Consort (1/1)
Mate, friend, or trusted adviser, the consort is granted a great deal of respect, but has no power and loses his position when the king dies.

Heir (0/1)
The heir assumes power as soon as the old King is willing to pass it on. He must be a direct descendant of the king, and is selected based on personality, leadership, integrity, and coat color.

Nobles (unlimited)
Nobles are (male) relatives of the King that can trace their heritage back to the king along the male line. So the son of the King's son is a noble but the son of the King's daughter is not.

The king consults his advisers on all important matters. Two of the advisers are selected by the king and two are selected by the pack. The speaker serves as a tie-breaker when necessary.

The nannies live in the mid-caves and teach the history of the pack to the youth. They spend a great deal of time with females and are often looked down upon because of it, but are a critical part of the pack nonetheless.

Speaker (0/1)
The Speaker is the only female who may walk freely among the males, although she will be swiftly stripped of her position if she does so too often. As her title implies, she speaks for the females, and serves as a tie-breaker in council votes. She is seen by the males as a translator of sorts and is simultaneously feared and respected.

Outsider (unlimited)
This is the default rank for females.

All young are raised in the mid-caves until they reach adolescence and are separated according to gender.

Personality: Loyal
History: Cathair is the son of Fogmane and Aine. Being Foggy's son, he is as honorable and loyal as his father--as well as curious. Cathair is at home in the wild and is quite a speedy racer.
Reason for joining: He doesn't feel right unless he's in a pack, and the peaceful nature of Oliver's pack strikes a cord in him.

Personality: Calm
History: The son of Khala and Pinecrest, he spent most of his childhood hanging out with his dad (his brother spent a lot of time with his mother being confused). He also favors nonviolence, and is calm despite the fact that many of the members of his family hear voices they can't see.
Reason for joining: He feels lonely and remembers his father's words about how wonderful it is to be in a pack. As an adult, he started wandering and met Cathair; the two became friends, and it was Cathair that convinced him to join Oliver's pack.
