Achtung! Attention, Hellsing fans! The trailer for OVA VIII was included on the Limited Edition release of OVA VII, just as the the trailer for OVA VII was included on the Limited Edition release of OVA VI and the trailer for OVA VI was included on the Limited Edition release of OVA V. It is, in a word, epic. Simply epic. I'm about as happy as Alucard looks when he's jumping off the Eagle. That's pretty happy. The big debate right now is how much of the manga it's going to cover. While OVA VII covers most of Volume 7, it's unlikely that OVA VIII will cover most of Volume 8. Most of us are thinking that it'll only cover half of Volume 8, probably ending before, when, or just after Anderson stabs himself with Helena's Nail. Some of us are thinking it won't even go that far. I, for one, think OVA VIII should end at this two-page spread. The credits should feature either Iscariot flashbacks or Vladcard flashbacks, possibly even Dracula flashbacks. The post-credits scene should feature either the Major or Anderson revealing the Nail. A minor debate is who the covers will feature. I'm thinking Maxwell and his crusaders for the Standard Edition and Vladcard on the Limited Edition.

Aw! I can't wait! Is' it true that the English works have come to a complete stand still? If it is, I think I'll bawl my eyes out for the next week....Or until I pass out from dehydration... crying Though in all seriousness, I think they should feature Anderson or The Captain on them because I don't know if either of them have been on the cover yet. I know the Special Edition covers have featured Alucard, Luke and Jan, Integra Walter and Seras, Rip Van Winkle, The Major, Pip, and Pip and Seras respectively (As far as I know). It would be kind of nice if one of those two got on the cover.

KitsukoTenbei Aw! I can't wait! Is' it true that the English works have come to a complete stand still? If it is, I think I'll bawl my eyes out for the next week....Or until I pass out from dehydration... crying Yes, it's true. The OVA is in a state of semi-limbo in America. KitsukoTenbei Though in all seriousness, I think they should feature Anderson or The Captain on them because I don't know if either of them have been on the cover yet. I know the Special Edition covers have featured Alucard, Luke and Jan, Integra Walter and Seras, Rip Van Winkle, The Major, Pip, and Pip and Seras respectively (As far as I know). It would be kind of nice if one of those two got on the cover. Anderson may appear on one of these covers, but I think he will mostly likely appear on one of the next covers. It's difficult to say when the Captain might get a cover. After OVA IX, I'm not entirely sure how they're going to divide up of the series.

;D Maxwell's getting a cover maybe...? Epic-ness. Hellsing Ultimate keeps getting better and better. This is probably the episode I'm looking forward to (and dreading) the most.
Random question but are OVA's 5-7 available in the U.S. despite there is no current dub for them? I've only been able to find OVA's 2 and 4 around where I live, but since there is no anime/manga store around me, I have to rely on FYE and chain bookstores...so...I wouldn't know.

Yes, it's possible that Maxwell might get a cover. A Maxwell cover was already proposed for OVA III, but it was scrapped. Here it is, if you're interested. The problem's not with dubbing, but with distribution. FUNimation has purchased the rights to distribute the old OVAs (I-IV), but not the new OVAs (V-VII). The only way you're going to get your hands on the new OVAs is if you order them from Japan or order them from someone else who ordered them from Japan.

Oh, wow. *o* That would have been nice as that was when he was introduced...who made the cover for 3? It kills me that no where around where I live actually carries 1 and 3. =_='
:/ Oh, well. Guess I'll have to wait until Funi can get them. Thanks for the info!

The Special Edition cover for 3 had Integra, Seras, and Walter, but Walter was in the background and was silhouetted. But as for the distribution issue, that doesn't effect who the English voice actors are, does it? Because I really like who they have for voice actors. Hellsing is one of those rare anime series that, when it comes to America, they actually chose the right people for the voices. If that gets screwed up, I think I'm going to cry.... crying

Hooboy. That... that's shiny. I personally can't wait to hear Maxie's crazy mofo speech... And, of course, zero restriction Alucard. And I agree with you, NLK- that spread would be a wonderful place to end the next OVA. (And jeepers, that Maxwell cover woulda been amazing!) Count Integra It kills me that no where around where I live actually carries 1 and 3. Same here, and same with my hometown. I picked up my copy of 3 when I was in Texas. I wonder why 2 and 4 are so much more common than 1 and 3. Or at least they are in Chicago/South Bend and Evansville.

Count Integra Oh, wow. *o* That would have been nice as that was when he was introduced...who made the cover for 3? It kills me that no where around where I live actually carries 1 and 3. =_=' Ryoji Nakamori (the OVA's character designer) draws the images for the Standard Edition covers. Hirano himself draws the images for the Limited Edition covers. That Maxwell cover was drawn by Hirano for OVA III, but it was scrapped in favor of the Hellsing (Integra, Seras, and Walter) cover that Kitsuko mentioned. KitsukoTenbei But as for the distribution issue, that doesn't effect who the English voice actors are, does it? Because I really like who they have for voice actors. If that gets screwed up, I think I'm going to cry.... crying No, it doesn't. It shouldn't, anyway. Rumor has it that Taliesin Jaffe (the English dub's director) already knows exactly who he wants to voice Girlycard.

Oh good! I was kind of wondering who they were going to use for her...him...Or whatever one would call him in that state. sweatdrop I was also wondering who they're gonna use for Young Walter. I hope they turn out good. Though I imagine if Jaffe keeps choosing voice actors like he has been, things will turn out perfectly.

;o I can't wait to hear the Girlycard's voice. Hellsing Ultimate has probably the best dub I've heard. Heck, even the OA wasn't that bad. At first, I was a little nervous to watch Hellsing, as I had my idea of the perfect voices in my mind, but wow...the VAs chosen sounded like the voices in my head save maybe a few. (Maxwell and Luke included.)
Any idea who might be playing Yumie or Heinkel? Random question but this has been weighing heavy on my mind recently.

Count Integra Any idea who might be playing Yumie or Heinkel? Random question but this has been weighing heavy on my mind recently. None at all. Heinkel's Japanese voice actor was female, but she had a deep, masculine voice. I'm wondering if Taliesin will do the same in the dub, or if he'll just give her a male voice actor. I hope not, but I don't know.

=o=' Meh. I'd still like to know whether Heinkel is male or female. (Completely off-topic but...meh.) As you said, his/her seiyuu was very, very masculine...too masculine for me to believe Hellsing Heinkel was female, but that question has been left unanswered by even Hirano, it seems.

Hirano said that Hellsing's Heinkel is "neither male nor female" (as opposed to Crossfire's Heinkel, who is definitely female). So, Hellsing's Heinkel is essentially genderless.

So, as long as they choose an effeminate guy or a masculine girl to play him/her/it, it should turn out OK. 3nodding
