Does your period ever affect your numbers?

Yesss. Homg.

My numbers will shoot up RIGHT before it's coming. I usually take like 36 units of lantus at night, but when my period is coming / i'm on it... my numbers get so bad I have to shoot up to 41-42 units of lantus. XD;;

It's normal, all of the hormones in your body due to your period can really ******** up your numbers. My endo had this discussion with me, and reassured me it can be normal @_@;;

If your numbers are just randomly out of control and your on your period, its most likely because of your hormones.

Yes! It's such a pain.
My blood sugars sky-rocket the week before. I eat one choice and wham! I'm stuck with a 200 for a while, so you can only imagine what a meal does.
My doctor said to take naproxen before/while on it for a bit, since supposedly that can help tame the fluctuating hormones a bit thus causes them to affect your blood sugars less.
Also, up your lantus intake by a bit too. I generally add on about five more units of it, but you should talk to your doctor about it.
And if they get really, really bad, see if you can't change your humalog/carb ratio for duration of it.

The funny thing with me is before I start, my blood sugars go crazy high for a week or so beforehand and then once I'm on it they tend to stay a bit lower.

Most definitely >.> My blood sugar has tons of spikes and dips and it drives me crazy. I'm on the pump though and trying the sensor which helps quite a bit ^^

Yeah...it sucks. I will be getting good numbers and then a few days before my period it goes right into the air. With the pump my doctor has me increase my basal insulin by 10-15%. It works pretty well. I hope to try the sensor soon to maybe get better control.
