Pheonix_Buffy_Fire
do you believe she is legit

Anyone who calls themself 'Vampire' can not be considered not legit in my books. I don't care if it's psychic or sanguine any time i hear the word 'vampire' other than in a fantasy context I think 'attention seeker'

I don't know I've never met her. I can only judge by what was written in the article DragonicFlames posted and from that it seems to me that she is probably a perfectly nice nutcase/attention seeker

I have very little love or respect for those who claim to be vampires. Especially psychic vampires.

I have heard of her, in her book Psychic Vampire Codex she shows a decent understanding of energy work. However I am with most the others, she does come off somewhat of an attention seeker.

I don't like her simply for the fact that, unless she takes ownership of a Vampire religion, she lists no credentials in any of her books of her website. I don't mean this offensively, just that, to my knowledge, she hasn't claimed to have created a Vampire religion and instead is seen as a kind of academic authority.
I've seen two of her books and her website and all of them seem to just be aimed to sell her music and aimed to the Goth subculture. I mean, not all authors have Ph.D.'s, nor should they necessarily depending on the material. However, she never says "I studied vampire folklore in college and in my freetime" or "These are the different types of vampire stories, both traditional and contemporary." She speaks from a seat of authority which I don't think she has earned.

I guess what I'm basically saying is that she doesn't act like a professional. Whether or not any of her information is valid, I don't know. *shrug*

this is only one quote of the many you have supplied to me.
But may I let you realize that there are such things as vamps, both kinds, who only come out about what they are so as to help those struggling with the same thing. I have personally met her and even I have to admit she is no where near the attention seeking god forsaken Satanist and all the other bullshit people claim people like this are. And she is a kind of academic authority. She only list the resources in which she obtains her knowledge, in Vampires in their own words, my mom and dad write along side her so I got to see what she is like more. She even taught me a little of the energy work that I know, she is the reason I write, and almost none of her books even mention her music, that is a totally different thing. And how exactly is a professional in this field suppose to act?

Is she the creator of a vampire religion? Otherwise, I would think source texts would be involved in her research as opposed to anecdotes.

I suppose I should ask what field she is meant to be representing and whether or not she is even a professional. What are her credentials?

There aren't, I'm afraid. There are energy-stealers and blood-fetishists who like to call themselves "vampires" to make themselves sound romantic and special. "Leech", "flea" and "mosquito" would be better slang names than "vampire". At least they are actual blood-sucking living creatures and people wouldn't make the mistake of saying things like "vampires do exist".

Quote:
And she is a kind of academic authority.

What university does she work in? What credentials does she have? What journals has she contributed articles to, and how are her peer reviews? What forms of empirical studies has she carried out?

Quote:
in Vampires in their own words,

There are no vampires. The only words we have from vampires are words written by authors like Goethe and Stoker. "Vampire" in the sense of an energy-feeder is slang and nothing more.

I am SO SICK of people tearing a beautiful folkloric undead monster to bits. Vampires are the physical shells of undead humans that crawl out of their graves nightly to feast on the blood of the living. Virgins, for preference.

A few quirks of vampires:
If you steal a sock, they will search for it until they find it. Resting only so they don't turn into a pile of ash when the sun comes up.
They cannot cross running water, save in a coffin of the earth of their homeland.
If you throw a million seeds, or beads, or other little things, before them they will have to count every one.
They tear out throats with their fangs.

I'km sorry. But you can't totally change the meaing of "vampire" just so that you can call yourself one. (That's not directed at you personally, by the way.) The use of the term "vampire" in the way you describe is only slang, and can be replaced equally with "flea" or "mosquito", which are better words, imo, as they don't imply you are dead or that you can't cross running water, and they don't turn you into self-absorbed melodramatic fools with a tendency to go crying in a corner when you tell them to stop raping European folklore.

M&R decided on "suckers" as the new slang for vampires so that we didn't have to call them "vampires".

It think it works well.

I'm sorry if I offended you however you did ask what our personal opinions and perceptions of her were. I sort of feel like you baited the topic. If you were going to react adversely to peoples negative perceptions of her why did you ask for our personal opinions? Why not simply write a topic about how she inspires you?
