Once started, you will be instructed to go to Olimar to get your first mission.

Overworld
In the overworld you can do whatever you want basically. You can visit stores, or houses, and talk to people. There is no time limit, so explore as long as you want, but you will need to go back to get more items!

Here is an example:

Woosh! Asteroid fly pass the nearest window. Jake sighs.
"Cyro-sleep makes me hungry. Hey commander, where's the mess hall?"
As a new recruit, traveling to Hocotate 2, he wonders aimlessly, vaguely going where the commander pointed.
"All passengers please belt up for landing. Welcome to Hocotate 2."
Jake said "Aww cheese."

Battle

After meeting Olimar at the Nursery, he will give you some Pikmin. He would then train you, 2-3 people at a time.

In battle, you get 2 commands. Which can be used on...

1. Throw 5 Pikmin.
2. Call Pikmin
3. Use Item
4. Captain Attack
5. Use Spray
6. Run Away

You can use commands more than once per turn.

So here is an example of a battle...

Me:
4 Dwarf Red Bulborbs Total HP: 20 Attacks: Bite
The Bulborb Pack sees the red Pikmin, oblivious to it's redness. They stand their ground, menacingly.

You:
Jake, using his instinct, launched a fury of 10 Red Pikmin! A furious firestorm defeated the wild Bulborb pack. The entire field was shrouded by red, moving Pikmin. He waited for the results...

Me:
The Red Pikmin retracted, revealing only 4 dead bodies. Spoils to the victors! No casualties, and 8 Pokos!

Captains have 20 HP, and his attack does 5, but the target may bite back. If you die, your remaning Pikmin will rush you toward the colony, potentially dropping items.

Pikmin Types

Red: Does 2 damage to ground enemies. Fire Immunity.

Yellow: Does 2 damage to flying enemies.
Electric and Bomb Rock immunity.

Blue: Water Immunity. Able to rescue other Pikmin in any situation.

Purple: Does 10 damage. Can only attack ground enemies.

White: When eaten, does 5 Poision damage to enemy. Posion Immunity.

Bulbmin: Fire, Electricity, Water, Poison Immunity.
