P R E - F A C E
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We've waited long enough.
Its been four years since it started. It began with nothing but a scientist. And a dream. He was just like one of us. With one difference. He had funding, and regional fame. That wasn't enough for him, now was it? He began creating bigger, better robotics, artificial intelligence, and a better world. It was too good to be true, we all thought, wasn't it?
It was.
He wanted nothing with the world. He wanted power. He gave no regards to the well beings of others, even as he slaughtered his way to the top. They tried to stop him. He struck down the Freedom Fighters as well. No one was left to protect us. Not a soul could stop his rise to power. He killed the land we once lived on, there is nothing left now. It's all desert, a wasteland. And in the centers of these wastelands, there are cities. Cities of brass and copper and gears. He used the last of our resources. We had nothing left but water. We have steam.
There are rumors, though.
Many, many rumors about a group in the North. Terrorists, some call them. Others call them the new Freedom Fighters. They live where he can't touch them, his robots freeze if they get too close. They have monsters on their side. Many-headed beasts that breathe fire and shake the earth, and airships that soar through the skies like birds. We only pray that they can stop him. They call themselves Knights, those of them who will. They're only kids though. Punks with guns. To put my faith in them would be crazy, but they are the last candle in the storm. They waver, they fade, but the fires won't go away. They are the last of us who are willing.
The last with free will..... Theodore Dent Former Prime Minister to Westerica Executed May 3, in the year 3527 by order of Kaiser Walter J. Schultz
She wore the clothes of a common thief. She slipped into the appearance of the city electrician. Her eyes held the cold and modest integrity of a knight. Her actions would be frowned upon later by the Lords, the dishonesty of sneaking around behind closed doors and shadows to fight a battle, rather than charge into the fray, head held high. Charging wasn't an option here. Not even the strongest of armor could protect a knight from cannon fire. The jumpsuit was hot, her disguise beneath covered her true identity. Such was the price of a good disguise. The armor was light, but penetrable. Not the best for dodging bullets, but a knife could not break through her iron barrier. She picked up the knapsack upon the ground, and stood up. She bid the two naked and unconscious gentlemen a good night, and walked from the ally into the empty streets of Maston, slipping the electrician's identification into her pocket.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The nigh air was cool on his wings as he surveyed the brass city, the lights from below cutting through the dark like a knife. The plan would soon be in motion, as much as he hated to admit it. For now, his form was small, small enough to be taken as a bird from afar, a foolish bird who insisted upon staying roosted in the rafters. His bones ached, changing was painful and taxing on him. It was difficult to stay so small. His mentality stretched like a rubber band. If it broke, he would explode out of himself, easily becoming noticed and blowing both his and her cover.
The warm bodies of the night filled his vision, each being a miniature sun. Their bodies radiated white, as their surroundings became muted hues and shades of purple, intermixing and mingling with various pinks in the moonless twilight. She walked alone on the side walks, occasionally passing a night-owl or a person of the like. Her body was the whitest of all, her body heat radiating to the walls she walked beside. She was stupid, he thought with a smile. Her eyes darted skyward towards him, and he nodded, banking sharply into the alleyway below. She followed.
She arrived minutes after he did at the transformer they had been targeting. He grinned, and chuckled to himself. "What are you wearing?" he joked. She rolled her eyes. brown grease encircled those icy eyes of hers and spun around her tail. An odder looking raccoon, he had never seen.
"Just be quiet"she whispered, taking a crowbar from the knapsack. He only smiled and removed a switch box from the bag as well. She only took one glance at the panel door of the transformer, before shoving the hook of the crowbar into it, wrenching the door open. "Did you set it?"
He nodded. "They didn't even see me"
"Good" she smiled She took the switch box, and fixed it to the intricate under wiring beneath the panel. He sat back, the drake looking on towards the street, keeping watch.
Their target lay over the cityscape, further out than the last building, away from civilian life. There sat an iron beast, a giant that ate away at resources to stay alive. It was nothing short of a cause for concern. The factory made beasts of steel and steam, mechanical beings, instruments of terror. It was a cause of misery, one of many, a killer of the world. The machines were Schultz's creation. Schultz created this world. Schultz killed this world.
The vixen looked to the glowing amber screen of the switch box. Charge: 19%. She smiled. Soon, there would be a void where the factory once stood, and a reclamation of the land that was once theirs would take place. Charge: 23%. Soon there would be no turning back. The Knights would make themselves known to the world. Charge: 24%. The knight sat upon her haunches, her eyes transfixed on the screen. AJ had never been so excited.
Or afraid.

"Dammit the gears are stuck again..." Seth growled as he started cranking a couple of the mechanisms on his left arm. His tail twitched in annoyance as his arm was locked in place. He was unable to move any of his rustic joints.
The wolf sat outside his sleeping-quarters, nearby the robotics factory. He leaned against the barracks of the quarters and kicked the wooden weapons crate he was sitting on. Luckily, this dirty, disgusting place was only a temporary shelter since Leader Schultz was increasing the amount of guards on duty. I guess the Leader was getting anxious of those terrorists from the North so all the workers and guards have been put on double-duty.
Although there was an increase of guards, Seth wasn't too keen with co-operating with any of them.
after all - they're filthy creatures.
Some of them still had all of their organic flesh. They still have their primal instincts. Eat. Sleep. Screw. Just an irritating repetition. Being part machine though... well... the sense of power and rustic steam is a feeling that can't be fully explained. This sense of power Seth obtained was very much worth the small mechanical issues that would occur rarely. The loss of his organic arm years ago was barely an obstacle.
"There we go!" a loud clanging noise came from his arm as he was able to move once again. He stood up from the crate and scanned the horizon.
Near the robotics factory, Seth spotted a dim amber-coloured glow near one of the alleyways. "...Odd." he muttered quietly to himself. Clenching his steam-powered fist, he walked towards the robotics factory.

Charge: 97% Charge: 99% Charge: 100%
Deployment: Available
Her eyes flickered in anticipation. This was really it, the moment she had been waiting for. The first major blow to the Schultz empire was being taken, and she could wait. Her fingers trembled as she touch the buttons. They were warm, surging with electricity.
Five...
Four...
Three...
Two...
One...
Her finger indented upon the button.
Chaos ensued.
The ground shook as the explosives went off one by one, blowing the iron giant into the ground. Rubble scattered everywhere, any natural products caught a flame. A grin spread across her face, and she looked to the dragon. His face was not as joyous as hers. "We need to go" he said. Her smile faded.
"Why?" she asked, standing up, ripping the switch box from the transformer. Smoke filled the air. There would be sirens soon.
"We have company" She looked in Nuki's direction. Special forces. She cursed under her breath, and grabbed the knapsack.
"Nuki. Let's go. Now" She walked out of the alley, her eyes wary. This could end very badly.

The ground shook violently as the sky lit up in flames. "What in the world?!" Seth growled and clenched his fangs. The building he was once heading to was now collapsing into a burning heap of trash. He cursed loudly and ran towards the remains of the building. That glow must've been a light from the bomb. Goddammit! He thought to himself.
Other troops had overheard and seen the explosion. Several alarms and sirens broke out giving off high-pitched screeches. Soldiers and machines were soon on their way.
Seth soon spotted the intruders running away from the scene. "I'm not going to make it end like this!" he snarled deeply and charged in their direction.
He managed to tackle one of the beings into the alley's walls, pinning them with his organic arm. The target appeared female, but it was hard to tell in the dark, musty alley. Flames from the factory were able to light up her face occasionally.
"Thought you'd get away so easily eh?" He cackled.

Panic and fear spread through her mind like wildfire. Oh no no no no.Not like this. She only looked up and blinked at the soldier, her eyes darting about his face. "What are you talkin' about? I heard the asplosion while I was working on the transformer, and I ran! The whole city's 'bout to go up!" she said, pulling out the electrician's ID. Hopefully, she could get enough time with the distraction. You better come up with something fast, Nukes.
He frowned as he watched from overhead. This wasn't good. They'd be caught if she didn't come up with something quick. The warehouse district was filled with abandoned buildings. He took off into the sky, an idea sprouting from his fear. He landed upon the building, and looked towards the ground. A sign labeled "flammable" sat upon the door to the building. He smiled. Just what he needed. He slipped inside through a hole in the wall, and disappeared. Lines of gases and other liquids filled the empty building, not a being inside. Fire built up in his belly, and he exhaled sharply. Soon the building was ablaze, and would explode like the factory. He slipped outside, and the explosive gases went off.

 He glared at the ID the vixen showed him. Seth couldn't help but think that this woman was up to no good. He knew several of the workers faces since he'd stumble across them occasionally on duty. Perhaps she was new to the work force without his knowledge? It is possible.
He loosened his grip and let the girl go - but before she would make a move, he lifted his robotic claw up to her face. "If you weren't behind this, why did this place conveniently burst into FLAME!?" His tone of voice rose. He was loosing his temper fast and was soon close to jabbing her face with his needle-like brass fingers.
The ground shook once more as another explosion was set off.
Seth's eyes darted towards the new set of flames - this time from one of the old abandoned dorms. Some strange creature he'd never seen before had flown out from the building. These had to be those terrorists Leader Schultz was talking about. He thought to himself.

Her glare was cold, and calculating. If they were found out, it was the end of the line for them both. She thought deeply.
Distract him, throw the suit and start with a jab to the throat, effectively paralyzing his vocal cords. Punch to the gut, work my way around, pinch to the dorsal nerve should send him packing. Recovery time, three days. Time for ego to heal, six months
She quickly unzipped, and leaped from the jumpsuit, throwing it the man's way. Her hand reached forward, and struck the square of his throat, or so she prayed.
The dragon frowned. This was a lot more damage being caused than he was used to.

 Before he could turn to face the girl, a thick fabric smothered his face and torso. "HEY!" Seth roared, with his voice being muffled by the jumpsuit. Soon after Seth removed the suit from his face, a large fist was heading directly at him. Startled, he dodged to his left - slamming himself into the alley's wall and throwing him off guard. He cursed underneath his breath and growled in annoyance. Some of his machinery had also hit the wall and caused a small crumble to it's surface.
"Little girl... I know you're the cause of this mess." He marched away from the mall and twitched his mechanical fingers. "You should bow down before it's TOO LATE!" Suddenly he slashed the vixen over her left eye - leaving a nasty striped wound. A thin stream of blood sprayed out and splattered over his arm and uniform.

The fox hadn't realized what had happened until her vision went red. The pain spread through her face, and she swung her hand up to her eye. That b*****d... "NUKI!" she yelled to the skies.
He was there. He had heard her call. His grim expression turned to one of rage, and the small dragon, wasn't so small anymore. His muscles turned and twisted, his bones snapped and welded together again, until the dragon became one of forceful size. His forceful size began falling out of the sky at an alarming rate, until his feet plowed into the pavement, a sinister growl at his throat. He frowned, and looked to his sister. She was bleeding. Anger filled his stomach, a fire deep inside, and from his maw, it spilled forth.

 Seth lost balance as this new, large creature stomped into the pavement. He never came across such a menacing looking animal before. "...Nuki?" he repeated the girl's calling. I guess that was the name of this reptile-like being.
The wolf's eyes lit up in fear as the animal shot fire from it's mouth. Seth tried his best to dodge the attack, but the flames caught a hold of his leg. Pain soon shot through his muscles as it was beginning to burn through his fabric and fur. "GOD DAMMIT!" He roared. Seth tried his best to smother whatever was left of the flames into the dirty, musty ground - but it already caused a severe burn. He wasn't able to walk properly under these conditions.

Her eyes shot over to the wolf as the flames subsided, and withdrew her bloody hand from her eye. This was her chance, if there was one. She rushed forward blindly, jumping onto his back, swinging her arms around his throat and pulling them close. The dragon only blinked, and looked to the stuff on the ground, putting them away in a rush. "Hurry up, we haven't got all night" he said, slightly exasperated. AJ only grunted in reply.
"Kinda busy, Nuke" she said, the pain in her eye throbbing like mad.
Nuki sighed. "Just kill him and get it over with"
AJ blinked. "I'm not gonna kill him"
"He called you little"
".....Son of a b***h. DON'T CALL ME SMALL!" she yelled, her grip growing tighter.

 "GET OFF!" Seth snarled as the girl's arms wrapped around his neck. He slammed his back against the wall, trying to shake the fox's grip off. Little was working and he was loosing oxygen. Seth tried his best to think ofa plan.I need to think of something quick! A nice jab to her thigh with my claw would let this little rat squeal. Sounds good en-
"He called you little"
".....Son of a b***h. DON'T CALL ME SMALL!"
Her grip became incredibly tight and fierce. Seth gagged and coughed from the struggle. "S-S-STOP" He was loosing his voice and vision.
He didn't want it to end like this.
Not against her.
Not now.
He slammed once more into the wall, causing some of the building to crumble. He couldn't think straight. Seth soon collapsed and slid down the wall.
Everything went black.
