oo1. Rules of this Subforum.

Never, under any circumstance, Cyber. Its not only against the subforum rules, its against the TOS, and telling people to take it to the PMs is also against the TOS. Just don't do it. Its fine to imply with something like " Clothes littered all over the floor" then take a time skip. Just don't get that far, we don;t want to see your horny obsessions.

Always read the roleplay owner's rules aswell, for it covers some areas my rules don't. The owner of a roleplay is responsible for taking care of their own roleplay and must see fit that any problem within their roleplay is taken care of or reported to myself. Please don't hesitate to discuss the problem.

Respect literacy rankings, which will show up later in the guide. The set literacy level is the standard for that roleplay, and must be met by all participants, even if it is ridiculously high.

Don't God mod, auto hit, bunny etc. Unless told otherwise by the roleplay owner, this rule is automatically implied.

Do not keep attempting to revive a roleplay. Reposting it over and over doesn't help, some roleplays were just not meant to live, so don't try over and over. Credit the person who made the roleplay if it is not your own roleplay, this can resolve conflict that may occur in the future.

Be original. I don't want to see the same story over and over again, it just pisses my off. When making a roleplay, be incredibly original, or quote it from a book.

Thou shall not kill! Unless instructed otherwise, you cannot kill each other on a whim's notice or without the other persons consent. This causes flaming, and other problems amongst the group. Just don't do it.

You're Out! Three strike rule, If I see that your roleplay is breaking the rules, I will alert you and ask you to change, or adhere to the problem at hand. Just because I'm not in your roleplay doesn't mean I'm not watching.

Older roleplays will be deleted after three months of inactivity. Either deleted, or memorialized depending on certain factors that I will not mention.

More rules can be and may be added to this due to future problems. Rules may be added or amended depending on the problem or the situation.

oo2. How to Roleplay

Welcome, unknown. To those of you who have had your head up your butt for these past few years, Roleplaying is the art of taking on a persona and writing a story of your character, who interacts with other persona's played by other people. Most roleplays are done in the Third Person, [He, she, it, Bob], and this is how most people roleplay. There are few roleplays that require First person, [I, Me, My], and this is a less common form of roleplaying.

Get the geist of it? Now about longer posts. To make longer posts, you don't need to much action, you just need to describe all your 5 wits. Or your senses. I know that there is a forest, but what does it smell like. Theres a slug? What does it feel like. You just ate? What does it taste like. You heard a noise? What does it sound like? Other writing tools, which include similes, hyperboles, personification, foils and etc. are also used in roleplaying. Roleplaying is done in either past or present tense, making it a certain writing style. The more literate you become, the better you will become. To quote an authot

"When a character finally breathes on his or her own, and takes their own persona, then you know they are a true character."

oo3. Standard Ranking System

What are ranks?

Ranks are the standard Role playing system to determine how good a roleplayer is. Ranks are used to ensure that roleplayers are good enough for a roleplay. Rules will say a rank in them, which means to be in that roleplay you must have a certain roleplay capability. These ranks are created to ensure the comfort zone of the Roleplayer and to make sure that no one of too low standards gets into the roleplay. The ranks are that that follow:

Advanced literacy
Literacy
Semi Literacy
Illiteracy
Extreme Illiteracy

These ranks are for the safety of ones state of mind and the existence of the roleplay. Never join a roleplay that is above your standard, because it ruins the whole roleplay. If a roleplay doesn't have a Rank in the rules, then the roleplay is open to all roleplayers. Make sure to enforce your standard, because if you don't than you will be overrun by Illiterate roleplayers.

||Rank Requirements||

Each rank has its own requirement, these requirements are what gain you your ranks. This is how you would tell the difference between you being an Illiterate roleplayer or you being the Advanced Literate roleplayer. This ranking system is the most used on Gaia, but there are other ranking systems. Here is the standard for each rank: [take note: A paragraph is considered 6-10 sentences.]

Advanced Lit.

4-10 paragraphs, No spelling/ punctuation mistakes.

Literate

1-3 paragraphs, one or two spelling/ grammar mistakes.

Semi literate

3-5 Sentences, one or two spelling/grammar mistakes.

Illiterate

1-2 sentences, 3 or more spelling mistakes. 3 or more Grammar mistakes. Uses faces to express character emotion. Has 1 or 2 words written in "txt-talk".

Extemely Illit.

15 words or less, uses ** instead of typing out actions. Uses faces to express character emotion. Improper capitalization, tons of mispelled words, or even contains mostly "Txt-talk".

||Rank Examples||

Advanced Literacy
|| Terrible Example||

" Well, I hope we don't have to meet like this again." Prometheus said. His eyes sparkled with a mischievious light. He did have an escape plan, a well thought out one too. He kept his eyes on Melissa, making sure she didn't read his mind. Yes, he knew about her mind reading powers. Prometheus backed up into the corner of the room. He patted his hands against the wall behind him.

" You think you've finally caught me, right?" Prometheus said, trying to set up a mental barrier so she couldn't stop him from what he was about to do. Prometheus's hands twitched nervously as he could feel his blood pumping in his veins. His eyes gave an involuntary twitch as he braced himself for what was about to come. He took a mental note to attempt to remodel Melissa's expression later.

Magic seeped from his body. His glowing, pure silver, radiant aura flared from his body as his hands touched the wall. The radiant aura sparkled and crackled with delight as Prometheus's body temperature soared. His black hair lifted slightly and magic poured into his blood. He looked at Melissa and with a sheepish grin he waved to her with his left hand. He held up his right hand and placed his thumb and forefinger together. He snapped his fingers before Melissa could stop him.

A loud crack echoed through the room as Prometheus, his aura and all, had teleported out of the building. He quickly jammed his hands into his pockets and walked into the nearest book store. His working place. Though he was about eleven minutes late, the manager wouldn't freak out, but if he did, Prometheus could just hypnotize him. He eyed the incoming customer, but paid no attention to her.

Literate

[Melissa's perspective]

' Damn it!" Melissa snarled at the scorch marks on the wall where Prometheus once was. He mouth twisted upward in a brutal smile, revealing her sharp, feline like teeth. She threw a few of her throwing knives where the man had once placed his head. How would she find him now? Where the hell could he have gone? A bright idea struck her. The trace spell could do it. She placed her finger against the scorch marks, and her own aura, a radiant green color, shimmered around her.

The scorches on the wall rearranged themselves into an type of alchemy circle. She removed her finger and stared at the circle, one wrong incantation mark and she was as good as dead. " Oh mighty Eris, Goddess of Revenge please take to the same as the person who used this circle before myself. I seek my vengence." Melissa said into the open air. A strong wind blew into the room and she was suddenly outside. She quickly gathered herself and gracefully moved on down into the bookshop. She could smell Prometheus's aura, the smell of mint.

Semi-Literate

[Prometheus]

Prometheus didn't have to look to see Melissa behind him. He could the metalic stench of her aura. He sighed as he placed his hand on the ground and the magic circle on the back of it illuminated the room. " I shall call you from the Earth's heart, Hellfire!" He said as hte room suddenly exploded into the equivelant of Crematory.

Illiterate
[Melissa]

melissa mooved arond the fir and shot lighting from her hand. " I rly hate u. scream " She said.

Extemely Illit.

promtheus *dodges* *says* "hah! u can't beet me! blaugh "

oo4. The Infamous “God Mod”

||What is "God Modding?||

God Modding is a few categories of errors that can occur while role playing. There are many forms of "God Mod" which frustrates people. God Modding makes fighting, or just Role Playing less fun. This can ruin a roleplay for others and make you a hated person. Here are some of the things that a god mod is.

- Attacks that kill instantly.
- Attacks that are unavoidable/unstoppable. [instant hits]
- Never being hit by an opponent, this is annoying and makes fighting less fun.
- Using skills that can bring the dead back to life, without consequences. Not even Necromancy is an excuse.
- Reviving yourself back from the dead, without consequences.
[Under N O circumstance can you bring Y O U R S E L F back from the dead.]
- Moving characters without their permission or taking control of them.. ["Bunnying"]

Well, these are the forms of god modding.

|| How can I ensure that I don't god mod?||

There are many ways to make sure you don't god mod?

Well, first of all, you may want to give people time to react. Instead of saying " Ryu stuck his blade into Charolette." Try saying "Ryu attempted to sink his blade into Charolette." This helps clarify that you are only attempting, for if you said that you did already stick your blade into Charolette, that would be considered instant hitting. Instant hitting is one of the most irritatating forms of "God Mod" along with Instant Killing. This results in banishment for most characters.

Another tip to be avoid never being hit is to take as much damage as you intend to give, and that works in vice versa, only give as much damage as you intend to take. This helps both sides. Some battles may not be like this, but NO ONE should leave a fight or battle without a wound unless both parties took no wounds. This is a fair fight.

To avoid reviving others or yourself, just don't do that. Thats my suggestion on the topic.

"Bunnying" is also considered a form of God Mod, unless your doing it to an NPC. If you keep "Bunnying" then you might as well be running the whole RP by yourself. This is only suitable to do this when a character is not responding for weeks.

|| How to avoid God Modders||

The basic thing to do when attempting to avoid these people is to post somewhere in your rules of the RP "No God Modding". This will help you avoid god modders. And if there are god modders in your RP give them one warning before kicking them out. So, Happy Roleplaying.

|| What is REVERSE GOD MOD SYNDROME?||
[take note that it is other wise known as "Damsel in Distress" mode.]

Reverse god modding is one of the most annoying things that can happen, where someone purposely takes hits to make others feel pity towards their character. This can ruin an RP for most people and is incredibly annoying. Also, these people take an infinite amount of hits and their characters stay alive. This is considered a form of god modding. Also, putting their character in harms way all the time makes it hard to progress with the RP. To avoid this put "No Damsel in Distress mode" In your RP rules. Have fun!
