I'm going to try and make this the least controversial i can..

Please i hope no one gets offended by this. Its really not my intent at all.

I just kinda wanted to see different peoples view points on this.

I really do not believe in it at all.. You can if you want to.

But i find it was a way for primitive man to explain his surroundings.. We didn't know about the universe or what the stars were..

We didn't know what clouds were, or earthquakes, tornadoes, storms, fire, volcanoes, disease, anything.. All of it was an act of an unseen omnipotent being. Its all they could think of to explain it..

Did you know that heaven was the clouds and the sun? Man looked at the sunset and believed they were looking at the kingdom of god. The golden clouds swirled with red towering into the sky. The sun piercing through. Mankind thought that was heaven.

And also, all religions are based around worshiping the sun. Even Christianity. Jesus ascending to the heavens. The light that is always around jesus or the angels.

Heaven was literally the sky.

We know now that the clouds are evaporated water, the sun and the stars are immense balls of gas that planets revolve around. Earthquakes are tectonic plates shifting beneath us. Storms are when the water molecules are shifting and rubbing against each other until they reach enough energy to release a static discharge. Disease is toxins entering the body and shutting down systems. Or where the body just begins to attack itself.

We have explained all the things that were once supernatural. We now know they are quite natural.. Why is it that the miracles stopped? Did god get bored? Or is it that we now have a better understanding of our surroundings?

Bottom line.. No one can say they know for sure.. None of us will know until we die. And that is something every person has in common.. We are all going to find out. We are all going down that road that ends the same. And frankly i don't want to spoil the surprise. :3

Exactly...No one knoes wtf is gonna happen when we die nor if there there any "miracles" from a higher purpose. All of the people that says god talked to them, BULL s**t!!! you thought u did but it never happened, and if there is a hell the first person there is going to hell is the pope and all of the stupid Catholics that follow him...He lies to groups of people saying hes the right hand of god bull s**t...and i do believe in god, maybe not your god but to me...

GOD = FAITH

And for you people who say im going to hell, my question to you is how do you know that, The Bible? who wrote the bible but people...people just like you not no holy beast with wings...

People put to much emphasis on religion..

Its not important.. To quote dogma..

"it doesn't matter what you have faith in, as long as you HAVE faith"

It can be faith in anything..

People should just live, and enjoy the present. Death will come, why rush to it? Living life to the fullest is the purpose of all this. There is no higher power pulling the strings.. If there is a god, he is up there watching what we do and how we live.. He isn't going to cheat and help out. Its how we are as people down here is what counts.

Besides who wants a handout.. How we recover from tragedy and hardship is what defines us as who we are.

Not to be a bible knocker, but everything said here is absolutely 100% correct as far as I'm concerned, especially the part about the sky literally being Heaven. I simply refuse to blindly accept that some guy who lived thousands of years ago is now watching my every move from up in the sky, and that if I telepathically tell him what I did wrong, he'll make sure my spirit floats up into the clouds when I die. I also refuse to believe that some gigantic red satyr that lives in the center of the Earth wants to kill me, and I'll go to him if I do things that are considered "sins" in life.

I know this is completely off topic, but the same applies for "Santa Claus".
I'm not happy with the idea of some jolly fat prowler who's probably a diabetic who somehow magics himself inside my house at night while I'm asleep to leave presents under a completely useless tree that I'm going to throw out anyway.

Yeah i find it fascinating to research old religions.. But i don't see how they fit in a modern society.. People can believe what they want to.. But it was just never for me.

I was raised a Catholic. I don't consider myself to have any religion anymore, and haven't since I was about 17. But I'm very much still a cultural Catholic if you like.

My personal belief is that Science and God (don't like using that word, with all of its connotations, but oh well) are not mutally exclusive (NOT Science and Religion - IMHO religion is a bad, bad thing) God IS Science and vice versa. If you've seen the pictures that the Hubble has brought back with it - the images are stunningly beautiful and completely amazing smile

Sidenote - sometimes I look at the sunset and believe I'm seeing heaven. I'm a pantheist at heart mrgreen

Religion was man's way of explaining the world around him. I don't understand how anyone can still believe in it now. It really doesn't make sense to me. There's people who believe that there were never dinosaurs on earth, that God put the bones there to "test our faith". It's just so bizarre, these strange beliefs that people still have.

I'm not religious. I don't believe in God. I find the whole idea of "believing in something bigger than yourself" to be completely disgusting. I know that society tells us that we should be accepting of everyone, no matter their beliefs but honestly, when I find out someone is really into religion and tries to use it to explain everything... I lose respect for them.

I think the whole dinosaur thing was just put there to make money, such as Santa...

I am not religious at all.

I am happy enough to sit in (like at school) and listen to the people who came in to talk to us, but when they started going on about how the bible is a first hand account of what happened and ceasar's diary is secondary evidence, I pretty went them.

EG - There example was that people wrote the Bible, so obv it is first hand evidence...and because Ceasar wrote his diary it was biased....

I was gobsmacked...seriously. We argued. I got in butt loads of trouble because I caused a stir...whatever.

Though, if I know people who are into that, yet don't preach at me, that's fine.

I myself, would probably have more of a spiritual/earth belief...it is really rather hard to explain, possibly aligned with a druidistic (not a word but you get my meaning) take on things, but not fully.
