Courtyards are great examples of how a place can be built for both form and function. The castle courtyard to many is a place of beauty, with flowers around the edges. The courtyard is circular, and like an amphitheater has multiple levels with staircases leading to each. In the center is a Podium, made of marble. This is where the courtyard has function. The courtyard and it's podium can be used for debate, marriage, speeches, and on rare occasion even theatre. Behind the theatre are various fruit trees, which visitors are welcome to take fruit from.

Nelo slid into the courtyard, staying to the shadows, leading Aeri through the orchard, stopping behind an apple tree, grabbing the sweet, suculent fruit, and sunk his his fangs into it, draining the juices, and throwing the core in the bushes where it would most likely be found by a group of ants. He waited for Aeri to catch up, humans were so slow.

He never complained or admitted it, but that fact was, he was tired. Dog tired. And considering the fact that he got no sleep all tonight--never actually staying at the suspicious in he was so inclined too--not only did it feel like his legs were about to fall off, but he felt like he would fall asleep while walking any moment now. That is, until they neared the castle. A sudden determination filled his eyes and the sleep that had once haunted him faded away.

He was still tired though . . .

Flinching as a dead apple flew past his face he wandered into the courtyard behind Nelo, staring at all six of the Large towers. "So . . . this is it." It really wasn't a question, and he was more-or-less talking to himself.

((Actualy, there are six towers, but u know.))

Nelo nodded. "Yup. This is it." He turned and asked, "So, what are you thinking of doing here anyway?" He couln't help but ask, because he used to be in the guard of course.

"Well . . . first of all," there was a long pause in between while he questioned if he should be telling this or not, "I'm kind of running an errand for a friend." More like a treasonous thief, "and then, after I'm done with that deed, I have to alert the other kingdoms of exactly what happened with the attack on my kingdom--what I initially came here for. I guess you can say in kind of an ambassador," . . . with a secret agenda.

(( *cough* well, lets just say from the low perspective he didnt see all of em yet. . . . its dark? sweatdrop ))

"Alright, just don't want to be leading an assasin or somthing in, because I probably would've gotten the job before you..." Nelo's voice trailed off, kind of awkwardly. "I guess you should go meet your friend, whoever he is. He'll probably be in his elemental embasy tower." He suddenly looked right at Aeri, and asked, "What's your name anyway?"

An assassin? Aeri laughed nervously, his friend's face popping up in his head. What had he gotten himself into? He was still trying not to stare directly into the strangers eyes as they they glowed in the darkness.

"My name is Aeri, the duke of . . ." he sighed, ". . . nothing anymore. Like I said, my kingdom was attacked." He tried not to think about it. "And you are?"

Nelo still didn't completely trust this guy, since he couldn't claim to any nation, and the fact he tried to steal a free trip to the Castle, so he decided on telling Aeri his street name. "They call me Sumnor, and I'm just a guide around here, but my father is a butcher." He spanned his arms to show he was through. "Well, I hope you find your way to your friend, but I've got to split." And with that, he melted back into the darkness, and unbeknownst to Aeri, actualy walked strait tward the unidentified fifth tower, the Tower of Darkness.

"Sumnor . . ." interesting. That name reminded him of someone he was warned about on his journey here. He was about to ask for more information but as he brought his head up realized the guy had disappeared. He frowned, but then smiled. "Hey, he forgot about the money I owe him," he laughed, but then quickly hushed up and looked around; that is, if he still wasn't there, watching him.

"Alright, to the water tower."
Gazing at the base of each tower he began to notice that each one closely resembled the elemental power it was inspired about. Finding his way around may be a little easier than he thought after all.

Flying in high, Kel dropped in at a thicker section of the trees bordering the back of the stage. He quietly stepped out from the trees and glanced about to make sure nobody was watching. Since the coast was clear, he dropped to one knee to let Maryl off his back.

Seth dropped in from flight a bit farther down right by the empty stage and raced up the stairs to regroup with her father and sister. "Uh, dad? What's with the sneaking? The Refugees already know we can fly."

Kel stood up and shook his head, "Yeah, lets just leave it at them. I really don't want to face the inevitable conversation if I run into an air elementalist."

Seth put her hands on her hips and nodded, "I guess that's a good point. We better be quick about it then, huh?"

Maryl was almost caught up in the sights of the castle and the courtyard as the flight came to an end. She climbed down from Kel's back as he crouched down and looked around awestruck. She managed to catch the back end of the conversation and took a deep breath to calm herself. "So which way do you think the ballroom is?" Though she asked she had a faint idea already.

"You'll have to be our guide on that one Maryl. It'll probably be wherever the mana is strongest." Kel folded his arms and looked up toward the top of the castle. In the rising sunlight, he could see towers peeking up in all directions, which were obviously the elemental embassies. Wait a minute... Why are there six towers?

Seth took her revolver from its holster and checked the cylinder. "Well, lead the way, Maryl." Since it was empty, she took six rounds and loaded it before putting it away.

Maryl nodded knowing what to do and began running off toward the nearby doors to enter. "Okay, follow me." She reached up for the door handle and pulled it open just enough to slip in.

Since there was little time to get into it Kel just followed after Maryl toward the door. He looked down toward Seth who was running just ahead of him toward the open door and asked, "Seth, if time permits, do you think we should have a look at the two new towers?"

"New towers?" Seth stopped at the door and glanced back toward Kel, "Sure." She stepped inside and moved to catch up with Maryl. It was a bit confusing at first but then she remembered seeing the towers when flying in. Earth, fire, wind, water... Then another two. She began to wonder about just what had happened yesterday.

Cyra walked among the fruit trees, lingering underneath in the shade. Her stomach bullied her for not eating enough before coming, or at all. She couldn't remember which. Cyra despised human food, organic food, it was very...not what she enjoyed. She would rather swim in the sea and catch a large Tuna and eat that, or maybe even some kelp. A pear tree held out a delicious looking pear towards her, a large temptation considering her now angry stomach. Reluctantly she grabbed it and bit in. It tasted like tree and she had to force it down to keep her stomach from becoming any worse. Cyra knew that in the kitchens there was probably better food, food that she wouldn't gag on, but there were people in the kitchen like the chefs, and when she was very hungry she'd remember the old days when she would lure sailors out to drown and eat. Besides, it was a good self discipline to finish that pear! Well, a quarter of the pear. She tossed it to the ground to rot after the second bite.
