yes, I speak 1337.
Anyway... here's the new Guild Definition of What's PG!with special guest appearance by Pai-Gon, the Censorship Panda. Obey the Panda or be smacked with the Pixie wand of DOOM!
Now, for the rules... This post is made to clarify what PG is, how far you're allowed to go, and as a basic "don't post this" warning. In general, we allow content up to Web-14 (PG-13), but no cussing past PG. Read on... 3nodding
PG means "Stuff that only really uptight parents would get upset about". I'll use Pai-Gon as an example. See anything that may offend some really up-tight parents? *gasp!* The panda has a fairly form-fitting kimono! Some parents may see this as not appropriate for kids under 10 or 12. However, most parents would shrug and go "so? She's a toon."
So, basically, if it would be offensive to really uptight parents, don't go there. However, since we are a private guild of fairly mature individuals, I'll allow some wavering all the way into Web 14 territory with conversations (I'll define that next)... but not when it comes to language! Some cussing is OK, you hear an occasional cussword in an especially bad situation in a PG rated kids movie (usually it's the bad guy cussing) but don't make a habit of it.
The following words are Ok is used in moderation: Damn, Hell, b***h, Slut, Whore
The following words should be used with caution and infrequently: god damn, Ho' , rape (unless seriously talking about rape)
The following words and other vulgar sexual slang is not allowed (not even in quotes!): s**t, ********, c**t, c**k...
If you feel you must cuss worse than PG rating, either blink it out (ex: F*** you!) or use alternate words (ex: the frikking crappy server is down!)
Now what is this Web-14 thing I've been hearing about? To put it shortly, Web-14 is basicailly PG-13 for the internet. Basically, there's stuff that the uptight parents would freak out over, like talking about abortion, rape, violent crime, and other unpleasant stuff conservative christians tend to scream about. The topics may include mild sexual situations, technical talking about sex, honest (but not explicit) talking about violence, and other serious "heavy" stuff.
Fa-Teen, the Censorship panda up above, is an example of web-14. Most teens' parents don't give a hoot that a cartoon panda is flipping you the bird, but generally parents would agree that the middle-finger is not something for kids to see.
What is it that prevents Web-14 from being rated R? Well, here's some things that Rated R has that Web-14 doesn't: Full frontal nudity Explicit sex all the cusswords and vulgar slang you want Explicit violence non-technical "cybering" type sex conversations Blood, Guts and Gore Really horfic creatures in close up detail
When in Doubt, PM the guild leader (lamoxlamae) with your post, topic or picture! Sometimes the lines blurr a little, and everyone makes mistakes, so if your post gets edited don't feel bad, just be more careful next time! 3nodding
If you have read all of this post reply to this with "Meow meow?" (this password will change to keep new members reading this)

I don't get it. Are we supposed to behave in a PG manner or in a web14 manner or mostly in a PG Manner and in select instances in a web14 manner, and if we are supposed to act PG then why do you have to be 13 to join and if you have to be 13 to join why should you have to act PG? And why do we need any more appropriateness rules than gaia already has? These are important, if slightly rambling, questions!!

And why do we need any more appropriateness rules than gaia already has? These are important, if slightly rambling, questions!! Gaia rules say that things MUST be PG-rated (or else someone could get us banned and that would SUCK). The 13 and up rule is to keep the N00Bs down to a minimum, to help stimulate more intelligent ranting (is there such a thing?) and to make people more comfortable in saying what they want (some people feel neverous if kids are around). Despite Gaia's PG rating, I'll allow up to PG-13 or Web-14 content (just don't cuss!) because we are all over 13, and I was clarifying boundaries so hopefully there will be nothing posted here that could get us banned. I hope that helps. mrgreen

Where does gaia rules say anything about PG... ?
The rules I see are keep posts relevant, spam only in chatterbox, no stalking, no overly abusive language towards anyone, no endorsing illicit activities, keep art criticisms constructive, no sexual explicit posts or cybering, keep signature sizes down, keep images pg-13, no botting, no hacking, no scamming, no impersonating a staff member.
Are there secret rules that I am not aware of! ARE THEY HIDING THEM FROM ME AND IS IT A CONSPIRACY! I THINK IT IS!

Well my point is Gaia doesn't have a PG rating. Its PG-13 with a self-described 'very liberal language policy'. If you want this guild to have a PG rating to be careful I guess thats fine...But please explain that to us. And put it at the very beginning of this topic
If you had just given us one definition it could be implied that that is the one we are supposed to follow. But we have two sets of guidelines and you didn't really say which one we are supposed to use. or why. why is important to me.
(btw.. Do we really need to be that careful? Are they really ban-happy when it comes to guilds or something? I'm not much into guilds so I don't know)
Sorry if I'm being picky. I think rules are something that need to be made as clear as possible

It's a "Yes, we alow up to web-14 here but Don't cuss, dammit!" post to clarify that unlike many guilds, yes we actually go as far as the ratings will let us. The explaination of the ratings was for refrence because not many people know where PG starts and ends, never mind Web-14/PG-13! The up to the limit this is because we're all 13 and over. And yes, they are that ban-happy. Small places may be lower-profile, but they still do get banned because all it takes is one uptight parent to click the "report guild" button and we're unde the microscope and banned! I was trying to have fun and not preach. Hense the pandas...
