A list of characters/character types they would like to see in the RP (and people can list more then one character type, it's just a sort of brainstorming idea).
It can be as simple as "family man mechanic" or a "halpless medic" but I think it would be best if actual character examples are given. Not that we actually expect the characters, or carbon copies of them, to show up in the RP but rather so they could be used as inspiration. I know when creating a character I often use canon characters for inspiration. You add your own quirks and change things to make them your own. When you start playing them, they really start to evolve into their own character. 3nodding
Personally, I would like to see:
The Wishlist
A doctor with a good set of morals. One who has taken the Hippocratic Oath. Who treats patients to the best of his abilities, no matter what he thinks of them or what oppositions he might have.
I'm thinking a gruff, older doctor. Like Doctor Cottle from Battlestar Galactica. I see a character like that finding a nitch on the Galileo. An intelligent man who believes in what he's doing (perhaps it is because of that intelligence that he comes off as gruff and sarcastic. He's surrounded by young, impetuous idiots).
Loyal too, despite that hard, grumpy exterior. A much needed voice of older wisdom for the terribly young crew. Perhaps he could even a double as a spiritual advisor.
While it might seem like we have a surplus of mercenary-type character, I would really like to see an ex-military mercenary. Whether discharged honorably or dishonorably makes no difference. Although the latter would certainly make an interesting antagonist. Especially if Rex wants his character captured and dragged to prison... this mercenary/bounty hunter would be a likely candidate to do it.
I think someone like Martin Keamy from Lost (Honestly, I do lean a bit towards the dishonorably discharged military background). A man who has a skill set far superior then the average man and a man with the will and drive to complete a mission by whatever means necessary. Ruthless. A soldier that is bought and paid for, one that can't be swayed by bribes after he's accepted his mission. He gets the job done or dies trying. His word is good, even if his morals aren't.
