My mom doesn't read, my stepdad reads once in awhile, but not the kind of stuff I'm into. My sis reads about 4-5 books a year, and I read about 30-40 depending on the length. *sigh* It gets pretty lonely. I hate it when I read a really good book, and I can't talk to anyone about it, because you can only really understand this sort of thing once you've read the book. I would love to find some sort of local book club and hang out with other readers! My grammy (grandma, who I love too much to merely call her that) is really into reading, and we do read books together sometimes, but she lives in another state. Anyone else feel the way I feel? Does anyone come from a family where everyone reads? (That would be neat) I also write. Who else on here writes? Does anyone have parents that write too?

My Mum reads sometimes, but she's more into Crime novels and doesn't get through them very fast at all. My Dad does read, but only non-fiction. I asked him if he'd read a fiction book if I bought it for him as a present and he said no. My little brother is only 10 and so is more into games than reading, and wouldn't read adult books obviously. My boyfriend reads, but not very fast - he's more of a gamer. So I'm pretty much the only one, yeah. It's fine though. I go to a book club once a month and I have friends that read. I'm also on a UK book swapping site and forum as www.bookarmy.com, so it's not that lonely.

My mom reads but not very often. She used to read a lot more than she does now. My Nana (grandmother) reads a lot, pretty much everyday. She is in a book club too, which makes her read more. My dad does read but mostly when he is on a plane just for something to do and he travels a lot. He mostly just reads books about business and companies and stuff like that. my brother is 11 so he doesn't read that much. He only reads the diary of a wimpy kid series.

Both my mum and dad rarely read novels. They'll pick up the occasional history, magazine or biography, but that's about it. I've stopped recommending books to them, because they quickly lose interest. I wish they were more into reading! Since I'm an only child, there's no one else to share my thoughts with at home.
I don't mind it though, because my friends are into books like me (we like almost any genre), and I also attend my Uni's bookclub. Forums are awesome too. A lot of them have read-a-longs, which are fun!

Search Dani Cotton and I should come up. Just make sure you a put a note with your friend request to say who you are wink

I proably read far more than anyone else in the family, but reading is almost like a birthright for me, going hand in hand with the thick glasses. Both of my parents were prodigious readers, especially my mother, though it was my father that introduced me to science fiction, which became my favorite genre.
I have four younger brothers. My next-down brother is a slower reader than me, but he likes to read much weightier stuff than I do...he favors the Russians like Tolstoy and Scholtenitzen (probably spelled that one wrong) and monstrous nonfiction tomes on war campaigns. My second down brother has similar tastes to me, though reads a lot less as far as I know. My third-down brother liked a lot of lighter SF/F last I heard, but he's away in the army. It's only my youngest brother (still in school) who HATES reading. Sometimes I think it's just a perverse attitude because all the rest of us read. Oh, well.

No, my mom also reads. She likes true stories, satirical works, and crime stories. Me on the other hand mostly reads fantasy, romance, science fiction, and almost anything else. I'm a very versatile read in my own opinion, as Ive read just about every category there is in literature xd

My sister reads quick, brainless stuff last I checked. Other than that my family has other things they like more than reading to occupy their time.

My mom doesn't read, she says it makes her tired. My dad never reads anything other than hunting magazines. My brother doesn't like to read. So basically I am so alone crying

Like clover effect said, I too probably read more than anyone else in my family. My brother used to read a lot but hasn't found many books that he really likes any more. On that note I am trying to get him started on the Southern Vampire series since he likes Laura Hamilton so much.

My mom only reads e-mails... and that's about it. My dad occasionally will read the t.v. captions. : P
So, yes, I am the only one who reads things in 3D. (:

I'm the only one in my family that actually reads. My mom only scans through nursing books, and my dad won't read unless it's a text or something like that. Even in my extended family, there's hardley anyone who reads. I can only think of 2-4 people in my extended family who really reads
