Hey, I just thought I'd try this tactic to get everyone in the guild to know each other better, without any akward quesitons like, 'how old are you? What's your real name? I wanna meet you.' because thoes questions always creep me out lol. But, I figure since we all share a similar interest in the same subject we should get to know each other, if only in the context that I'm a 2 inch tall anime character named Galvad. So! This entire thing is just about being random and posting about... Whatever! How your day went, that new movie you saw, a joke you heard, an open debate about whether a star destroyer or the enterprise would win in a fight, you know, just stuff like that! It would be great if everyone joined in at least once! But common! It'll be fun! biggrin

"Those who revel in the brilliance of the Sun,"
A joke I heard? Alright. This one should humor most of you:
An old Italian lived in New Jersey. He wanted to plant his annual tomato garden, but it was very difficult work, as the ground was hard. His son, Vincent, who used to help him was in prison. The old man wrote a letter to his son and described his predicament:
Dear Vincent, I am feeling pretty sad, because it looks like I won't be able to plant my tomato garden this year. I'm just getting too old to be digging up a garden plot, and your lazy brothers Sal & Rocco won't help me. I know if you were here my troubles would be over..? I know you would be happy to dig the plot for me, like in the old days. Love, Papa
A few days later he received a letter from his son.
Dear Pop, Don't dig up that garden. That's where the bodies are buried. Love, Vinnie
At 4 A.M. the next morning, FBI agents and local police arrived and dug up the entire area without finding any bodies. They apologized to the old man and left. That same day, the old man received another letter from his son.
Dear Pop, Go ahead and plant the tomatoes now. That's the best I could do under the circumstances.. Love you, Vinnie

Alright, now something more related to the theme of this guild!
Nominated for an Oscar and for a BAFTA award, Jasper Morello is a short feature made in a unique style of silhouette animation.
The Mysterious Explorations of Jasper Morello
It is 26 minutes and 8 seconds long. So be prepared for some wait if your computer loads slowly. But it is so worth watching!

ok! So I have a quick question... Does anyone have any idea just how much fantasy is really in Steampunk? Because I know that there are werewolves in most steampunk things, and vampires, and other darker creatures, but I'm more talking like elves and dwarves and ogres, just how much fantasy has anyone seen in steampunk?
PS: I just want to know the most radical fantasy creature to ever appear in a steampunk story, so far the wierdest I've seen is in Leviathin with their fabricated creatures razz

Good question..... I know I've seen fairies, and once I'm pretty positive I've seen a Cerberus. I know there are Vampires and Were Wolves occasionally, even Gargoyles. Wether the magical stone ones or ones created by the steampunk characters themselves. I thought those were kind of cool. Dwarves quite often in a lot of fantasy stories and the occasional movie do have a bit of steampunk to their underground cities and some vehicles, depending on the story of course. Elves? Not that I've seen, and definitely not ogres, though that would be something to see. Though Ogres could be in a steampunk story attacking the Dwarves for example. Otherwise, I'll have to get back to you on this one. I know I've seen one other crazy one before, and if you watched that Jasper Morello movie, it had a crazy flesh eating plant in it. So, hope this was maybe a little helpful for you.

Well, if you would like a rough suggestion, you could always put any sort of fantasy into it, and later find out it was just a ruse, like the gargoyles- There is a magical gargoyle running amok in the city cathedral- and in the end, you catch the gargoyle only to find out that it was just some mechanical creation gone haywire, or have a Medusa that was created in a Frankenstein's monster fashion. They do have automatons around this time,(or just AI if that makes more sense) Just some suggestions that I've seen. And you know, Frankenstein did have a slight air of steampunk to his methods, though just slightly. So, any closer good ideas here? I'm trying to help as best I can. I wonder what Nack might have to suggest....
