Of course all your writings posted here on Gaia need to follow Gaia TOS, But, If you post it elsewhere and put a link it can be anything you wish.
But for sake of people in the guild who are young, please when you post the topic with your story rate it, if you wrote a story with sex and violence please state so, that is the only thing I ask of you.
All the rest is up to you, just be polite to those who dont want to read those kind of Steampunk stories, as for me, I am going to read everyone's story that is posted, sex or no sex, so bring em in...

"Those who revel in the brilliance of the Sun,"
Tips for writings? For starters, and I'm sure a lot of you already know this, but put some thought into it. Then when you're done, read it through, and think it over again. Then if you can, get a friend or someone to read it and give their opinion to what may make it better. Also, you can preview wirtings to get a basic jist of things, like get a book from the library and look it over for writing styles and formats. Or go online to find clips of writings, or other peoples stories to get ideas from. But DON'T steal from others. These writings should be your own doings, and make them as unique as possible without making it hard to read. And that's pretty much all I have for tips. Take them or leave them, it's your call. Good luck fellow steamers!

seeing as this thing says tips for writing I'll just throw out a couple that I think may be useful as far as story archs go. I am an avid Dungeon Master in several different roleplaying games (aka, my friends show up and we roll dice for days on end for thoes who don't know lol) So it is up to me to write the story. I really wanted to do a steampunk game and did a couple 'one off campaigns' or a really short campign that only lasts one session. I discovered that the easiest stories in the setting of Steampunk were mysteries, exploration, or freelance 'episodic' things. Now, this was all in a roleplaying setting, how about with keyboard and software? Well, I have noticed a definate trend with steampunk stories with thoes elements in them, but with writing you need a whole nother layer with that. Steampunk is all in the victorian age, so it has very romantic themes, such as romance (not necesarily sex lol), betrayal, and heroic exploits. In more recent romantic stories there has been a definate trend toward the anti-hero, meaning someone who is 'bad' but not evil, some examples, Han Solo (star wars), Mal Renolds (firefly/serenity), Dr. Horrible (sing along blog). Just some ideas if someone wants to write a story but doesn't know how to start smile

He has been around for merely a year or so, Dr. Steel, a 30something singing mad scientist bent on taking over the world has been around since 1999, and I follow him and am part of his army of Toy Soldier as well as most the people in this guild, so for future reference, I wouldn't mention Dr. Horrible and that companies ability to rip off Dr. Phineas Waldolf Steel....
