Well I better start from the beginning.
I started tapering off mirtazapine a few weeks ago. Three days after I stopped taking it my psychiatrist prescribed me lustral (sertraline). First time I took it my throat closed up, I got palpitations, I was so confused when I woke up that I went to get the side effects sheet I accidentally started popping more pills out of the blister pack (I stopped myself before I took them thankfully). I was shaking, twitching, grinding my teeth, I started to feel pretty euphoric. I stopped taking it.
A week or two later, that being yesterday I was prescribed cipralex (escilatopram). I'm now sat here feeling very, very on edge, I'm grinding my teeth again and I feel kind of numb, definately not like myself. From time to time I'll start shaking again.
I thought I must be allergic to lustral but I'm beginning to wonder if it was serotonin syndrome caused by an inadequate washout period. I'm a little worried its going to happen again but itf I stop taking this my psychiatrist will be well pissed off with me.
So what should I do? Take it a few more times, see if it stops, gets worse. Stop taking the tablets and have everyone try to get me back on it and moan about how I'm not being compliant? Make some phonecalls?
Ugh I can't think straight.

Wow, that's a whole lot of medication changes in a short period of time! You really have to talk to your psychiatrist and get things stabilized. No wonder your body is freaking out! If I were you, I'd change as little as possible, unless another emergency happens, so as to let my body get used to the current chemical balance before making changes. But I'd want to talk to my psychiatrist first about at what point I should change anything.

Getting rippped off of meds can be so painful. I was just hospitalized recently for catatonia and my psychiatrist immediately took me off of Seroquel and Lithium. To say the least, it was agony because I had been on them for so long and my body was somewhat dependent on them for my functioning.
Seroquel had put me to sleep at nights before this whole incident happened and now I was an insomniac who was going through a painful withdrawl. The Headaches were terrible to say the least and I could not even eat a morsel of food for almost a week.
But thankfully, I am back on some good medication now and it's all over. smile

Glad to hear it smile
I'm now on lexapro for the second time because my shrink was being really awkward over prescribing something else. It seems to have stabilised me which is all I really need, if I can think straight then I can muddle through somehow. domokun

i think you should talk to your psychiatrist and even doctor do some research on the medications ... do you take any other meds besides those? cus if you do they might have side effects increased by the new meds your taking but im no doctor or nurse you should make some phone calls... i hope you get better!!!
