Hello fellas.
Well, I'm starting to work with charcoal and I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with it? If so, is it easier than using a regular pencil? I know it's faster and creates more refined lines, but I'm concerned about the smudging part. My pictures can get pretty messy sometimes, is there a way to erase it without it looking sloppy?

I heard that kneaded erasers are useful for charcoal.

One trick is to start at the top of the picture, then work your way down from there. That way, it is less likely to smudge it with something like your arm.
(by the way, I moved the topic, that way it is easier to find.)

watch out with the charcoal. I once used them and I tainted my clothes by accident because the charcoal rub off on them from my fingers. That's the only advice I can think of right now. Other then that just enjoy drawing! ^^

Ooooh I love using charcoal. I personally like the fact that it smudges easily shades easier that a regular pencil. Just my opinion.
