A Strange Cave

With all the odd terrain features popping up everywhere, no one should have really been surprised when something appeared near Loamhill itself ... still, no one expected that something might decide to pop up in Loamhill.

Now there's this big friggin' hole in the ground that Imps keep managing to crawl out of. Never one to miss an opportunity though, Mayor Cyrus is calling forth all new adventurers in the area to explore the cave. After all, maybe if they do it'll just ... go away.

Available for levels 1 through 4.

Five (5) rolls per explorer.

To enter this dungeon, please make your initial event (10-sided) roll.
You are also free to write your approach post if you see fit, write after you roll to see what you get, or to not write at all.

Remember that you are adventuring alone, not with each other, and that RP is never required.

***There was a big cave.

Orindar had not exactly come to Loamhill to explore (he'd actually come to make money off of the people who were supposed to be exploring, but so far they seemed pretty poor. Hmph.), but he'd heard tell of things of...great interest popping up in these caves. Perhaps there could be books - magical books! Maybe even a book no one had ever seen before (this made him happy. Orindar liked books a lot.). Besides, if there wasn't a book of interest he could just...uh.

Well, he didn't have his store for nothing.

He had come prepared, though. Well, certainly he had no weapons to speak of, but he had magic (and he was pretty good - anyone could admit that), and there were certain to be other adventurers around. Perhaps he could even attempt to sell to them. This thought allowed a second glance up at the cave. The attraction of potential money far outweighed the detraction of potential danger.

The Altmer stepped forward into the unknown, feeling very much like the protagonist of some adventure novel or other.

***A strange cave suddenly appearing in the middle of a town? This was surely something to catch anyone's attention. Despite the long travel from Anvil Drost found the prospect of exploring this cave well worth it. Although the roads had more traffic than he would have liked. Event he town had too many people, how did they expect to get around with all these people on the streets!

However the people lessened as he came closer to the cave, so even now there was one good thing about this adventure! After a quick glance around he made his way quickly towards the cave's entrance, hesitating for a moment as he started in before continuing forward.

Battle Time for Orinbar!
Rolling for thyPOPE.
Orinbar's 1st Turn!

Player 1 has encountered two scrawny imps!

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Maybe it was the weather. Maybe it was the fact that there were so many dirty, unwashed, heathen un-Altmers around. Or maybe, just maybe, it was because Orinbar decided that he waned to crawl out from his store and actually get some air.

Whatever it was, that cave obviously didn't like it. Not one bit.

Even before the bookworm really got inside the cave - actually, just as he passed into the shadow cast by the arch of the mouth - two humanoid creatures flitted out on draconic wings, screeching at him angrily. Whatever peed in their morning gruel obviously wasn't around anymore, so they were taking it out on the Altmer.

A fireball launched past the merchant's head from the first imp, barely missing, while the other saw fit to lunge at him with outstretched claws.

They were small, but they looked hungry. And pissed.

Roll your choice of battle skill before writing any post. If you get higher than me, you win. If you get lower, you lose 1HP (and the battle).

***They were also, apparently, faster than Orinbar had thought to account for. Claws and fireballs - this was definitely not what he'd signed up for! What had happened to the magical books?

The bookworm only just remembered that he had his own fire magic and shot a blast at the imps - missing both, unfortunately. Double-teaming was unfair! But at least that wasn't attracting them any closer - Orinbar took the chance and bolted.

Lesson learned: Orinbar did not think well in a fight. Also imp claws hurt a lot.

***Rifk had heard of this cave from some random passerbys he just happened to be eavesdropping on. This was a perfect chance for a bit of adventure! Saving a town, having women fawn over his amazing prowess. ********. He just hoped if he could do something there was somethign in it for him. The ladies part sounded good though.

After reaching the town he had decided to hang around first, listening to what the people said before he finally made his way to this strange cave. Strange indeed, popping up in the middle of a town. There certainly had to be something worth a few coin inside, and if there was Rifk planned on finding it.

A Discovery for Rifk!
Rolling for mia Sharra.
Rifk's 1st Turn!

Rifk has nearly alerted everyone of their presence by falling over a locked chest!

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Lucky b*****d. That's all he was. A lucky b*****d.

Where other adventurers were busy getting their hair burned and their eyes clawed by imps, Rifk was just a lucky son of a b***h? Why? Because not three minutes into the cave and he nearly tripped over a suspicious lump on the ground. It could have been a rock - and for certain unlucky adventurers it probably would have been - but not for Rifk.

No, that damned Khajiit tripped over a treasure chest. Unfortunately, there was also a big lock hanging from it, preventing entry. Still, it did rattle a little enticingly.

You may make a lockpicking roll if you wish to try and open the chest. Otherwise, make your next event roll.

Battle Time for Drost!
Rolling for Mia Sharra.
Drost's 1st Turn!

Drost has encountered a(n) savage slime!

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Unfortunately for Drost, what there wasn't was a lack of semi-conscious slimes.

He'd be aware of that soon enough, as no sooner than he stepped foot inside the passage of the cave did a rather slimey, rather enourmous black slime ooze its way down from where it had been wasting away to plop effectively onto Drost's head.

Apparently a slick, scaly blue surface was just what the slime was looking for in the way of new real estate ... and breakfast.

Did Drost know that particular slime was hungry? And that, like all slimes, it mouth consisted of a small feeding tube that dripped scathing acid?

He didn't? Well, he was about to be a very quick study.

-Drost Combat Roll-
Hand to Hand

Drost, well, freaked. There he was minding his own business in this strange, dark cave and now there was somethign extremely unpleasant atop his head. He decided to take the most sensible reaction which was to scream like a little girl and attempt to smack the thing off his head.

This didn't work out as well as he had hoped, in fact his fist just seemed to sort of..bounce off and make it angry. His head also seemed to be tingling a bit, that couldn't be good. Well, maybe if he ran it would either fall off, or he'd run in to a wall and knock it off. The second one sounded unpleasant but, well, worth a try!

Sweet Jesus, Rifk!

Rifk has come across the one thing that adventurers love more than cheese ... lewt!

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
He really was a lucky summbitch, wasn't he?

The chest popped open with just a few little jiggles; the lock was pretty old, and crumbled a little, but still. It opened nonetheless, and the top opened easily enough.

Not the greatest prize in the world, but inside was 8 gp. The coins were dull and tarnished, but still real gold, from the look of it.

Congratulations! No roll is needed here. Take what loot you want and make your next event roll!

*** Skooj had heard about the weird cave and had slunk out to see what had happened. Nothing particularly scary about caves to him. His feline eyes allowed him to see in the dark just fine, and he was eager to try and see if he might get lucky.

Skooj's 1st Turn!

Skooj has come across the one thing that adventurers love more than cheese ... lewt!

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Skooj's feline eyes did make him lucky - lucky enough to spot 8 GP on the ground, lying in the open, just sitting there, sparkling through the layers of dust and debris surrounding them.

Come to think of it, it's odd that it's there, isn't it? Surely some random adventurer stumbled on it before. Maybe they died a horrible fate. Maybe it's a trap. Maybe Skooj will be eaten by a grue.

... or maybe not. The cave had just sprung up, after all.

Congratulations! No roll is needed here. Take what loot you want and make your next event roll!

***The cat was elated over his find. Usually his bad luck left him with the short end of the stick, but it seemed that fate was being kind today. He took a quick glance around before kneeling to scoop up the coins. There weren't many, but every little bit helped. Tucking the coins away safely, he stood up once more to peer around the cave, expecting to see or hear some of the critters that people had been talking about in town.

(I hope it's correct that I roll another 10 sided die D: If not I'll reroll.)
