Q. Just what is a dungeon?
A. A dungeon is a dice-play hosted by Variable Nonsense and/or I that gives anyone with a character (located in the Adventurers subforum of this guild) an opportunity to roleplay (or just have fun as roleplay is never required) and/or opportunity to collect experience and lewt for their characters in a fun, laid back environment.
Q. Okay. But what's a dungeon?
A. A dungeon can be anything from a small cave to deep, dank ruins filled with all sorts of monsters, lewt, and randomness.
Q. So how does a dungeon work?
A. a) When we host a dungeon, we will make a sticky with the dungeon's name. This is where people will find information about the dungeon such as level requirements, the number of player slots (and their availability), and the lewt list.
b) If players wish to join the dungeon (and there is a free slot available), they will make a post in the appropriate sticky with the words "I'm in!" and their first event roll, a ten sided dice.
c) Variable Nonsense or I will add the character's name to the list of players and, in most cases, create their personalised thread. This is the personalised version of the dungeon.
d) All playing for said character will happen in that thread.
Q. So how does a turn work?
A. We use event turns to determine the next thing that happens to a character. Every new dungeon contains new events, so things are constantly changing. This is also why it is extremely important that the first event throw when signing up for the dungeon happens during that sign up.
It is also important to note that any player that goes into a Battle Phase must throw another event roll after their battle turn.
Q. I like to roleplay, so how do I know how to write my post if I don't know what's going to happen?
A. You don't. That's why you roll your number then go back and edit your post to fit what you've rolled.
Q. Do I have to say what skill I am using if I am using one?
A. Not unless you want to actually get credit for using that skill.
If you want credit for the skill, you have to put the name of the skill that you are using above your roleplay.
For example, if you are using your Blade roll, you must put (I am using Blade!) or some other way of letting us know you are using that skill. Otherwise you will not be receiving credit.
