As I was about to post my roleplaying character, a thought hit me. My specific character is not actually Drow, but a Dark Elf set after the return of Dark Elves in the Forgotten Realms book series the Lady Penitent. What is the Undergaia's policy on these events? And what of the deaths of every Drow deity accept Lolth?

For anyone who hasn't read the Lady Penitent series, I'll give a brief description of it's events leading up to the recreation of Dark Elves. The series follows several different characters, including the following:Q'arlynd Melarn, the brother of Halisstra Melarn from the War of the Spider Queen series, Halisstra herself in the form of the Lady Penitent, and Qilue, one of the Seven Sisters, those born of Mystra. Throughout the events of the series, it is discovered that the Drow are connected to the Underdark by means of the Faerzress created through a ritual of High Elven magic. This explains most Drow's reluctance to leave the Underdark.
Yet another discovery is made when the characters learn more of the Drow's initial decent, how the Ilythiir and Miyeritar were driven into the Underdark. The Ilythiir, corrupted by the taint of Wendonai, had many times attempted to conquer Faerun, and had abused the elven magics to such an extent that Corellon Larethian, god of the Elves banished them. Though the Miyeritar were innocent of these actions, they were also driven underground.
After a series of events that followed, two very important events occur. First, through High Elven magic once more, the ancestors of the Miyeritar (any who were not tainted by Wendonai) were transformed into Dark Elves once more. The second is the death of Eilisstraee at the hands of Hilisstra.

I know we source a lot of the material here from FR, but I seem to remember seeing a discussion where the spellplauge and the events of the Lady Penitent series would be largerly ignored. If you think about, the place would be less colorful without magic or the other drow dieties.

Alright. I can completely understand ignoring the deaths of the majority of the Deities in the Drow Pantheon. I actually thought it was incredibly lame that they decided to kill off every one of them excluding Lolth. I loved the idea about bringing back the Dark Elves, though, so I mostly wanted to see if this was still going to be included.
The Spellplague is also one of the worst things that could have happened to the Forgotten Realms, so I understand this as well. In under five years Forgotten Realms time, they literally killed off every single one of my favorite deities (Eilistraee, Deneir, and Mystra). I know they wanted to do something new for D&D 4.0, but did they have to completely change the world? I don't think they did, but who am I to say.

I would agree, ignore any fluff that was published as novels after War of the Spider Queen series. Also, remember this isn't FR, this is UG... we decide what gods are still kickin' not WotC, lol.

heh. agreed, it's just too upsetting, and not very well done...

although, the Lady Penitant series and the Elysean Oddysea series are both still pretty Kick-a**... whee Pharaun's seed lives on, in no one less than the awesometastic Alisza teh Alu (who by the way i am enough of a dork to name my daughter after! xd )! and Qu'arlynnd is ******** epic, i love that guy! hahah! xd

Yeah, Q'arlynd is one of my favorite Drow characters, just after Gromph who, lets admit it, pretty much destroys the world.
I really did like the Lady Penitent books as a series, it's just that they change so much it's kinda ridiculous.

Oh, and I know Undergaia has its own timeline and everything, I was just wondering if it would follow the recreation of the Dark Elves or if that was going to be ignored. Because I actually do like the idea of having Dark Elves around again.

i would love the return of Dark Elves myself, though it better not be like the rediculous BS i read on wikipedia abou them looking COMPLETELY different.... >.>

i have various sub-subraces for Dark Elves in my setting. there are Night Elves, who live on teh surface in forests and are nocturnal; there are Drow; and there are Frost Elves, A.K.A. Ice Elves, who live in the tundra and taiga of the region called Iclaria. there is one city of them that includes caves but which is partialy outside. these are all different types of Dark Elves.

also, in my setting, Wild Elves and Wood Elves are the same subrace, sepperated only by being Nomadic or Civilized Wood Elves. they have the same stats, the same racial traits, and the same general appearence, with noticably more consistancy in appearance among the Nomadic ones (because they are slightly more inbred from being Tribal and slightly xenophobic).

other than that, i have High Elves, Sun Elves (Desert Elves), and Sea Elves (aquatic Elves). the Wood, High, Sun and Sea Elves make up the Light Elves. i was thinking also of making a type of Dark Aquatic Elves, possibly calling them Grotto Elves, or something.
