Orinbar's Been Roadblocked!
Rolling for thyPOPE.
Orinbar's 3rd Turn!

Orinbar has encountered a(n) looming abyss!

It didn't take long for the cavern to show its true colors, at least not judging from some of the oddities that had spewed out of it previously. The rough mud-and-stone walls began to smooth out, with only the occasional stalagmite or stalactite hindering the path.

Then as suddenly as it began to change, the area changed again; with a suddenness that made it seem instantaneous, the tunnel narrowed, barely big enough to let the Altmer through, then burst into a wide open space. The ceiling was low, but the floor dropped out suddenly, leaving an eerie, foggy black abyss looming down under.

In fact, fog was obscuring most of the view from where Orinbar was, but there was definitely something on the other side - a soft glow, perhaps, or light filtering in from above?

The abyss, however, was a bit of a hinderance ... there were a few narrow tracts of land crossing it, but with the stability of the cave ... that might be dangerous. And of course it stopped at the walls, but what good did that do?

You may use any skill you can think of to bypass this problem. Otherwise, this turn is over and you must turn around - make your next event roll.

[Orinbar is using Acrobatics.]

Orinbar was stumped. It wasn't like he could throw fire down into the middle of the abyss or something. And there was no question about it - he wasn't going to throw his books down there; were you crazy ( D: )? He hadn't even had time to read Magic From the Sky yet.

And unfortunately even an Altmer couldn't fly - and his way with words would get Orinbar nowhere with an inanimate object. Neither could it easily be bribed to come out, and - well, as it reached the walls it was useless to try to sneak past it. He couldn't climb on walls, either.

But what he could do was jump. Even if it was a skill he hadn't quite...perfected yet. So he made sure he was clutching his books and money tightly before making a running leap - there could be books on the other side of that abyss. It was glowing! It had to be magical.

(Turning the other way didn't even occur to the Altmer. So much for his intelligence.)

It is dark and you are likely to be eaten by an ... abyss?

Orinbar has fallen into the deep, dark ... wait what?

Perhaps in the future, the Altmer would consider living his life more like a shop owner than one of the adventurers in his books. Or at least doing so until he was a little more fit.

Orinbar sailed through the air, graceful as ... well, a book store owner flying through the air. Unfortunately, he had neither wings nor magical enchantments ... so he didn't go sailing far enough.

The next thing that Orinbar would know after the descent would be waking up weak and battered, one of his arms almost unuseable. Thankfully his things landed alongside him, and the abyss must not have been as deep as it seemed. Unfortunately, it was still a long drop, with the light glowing softly up in the distance.

Fortunately, there was a sort of path where he'd landed, and another glow off from the tunnel to the right.

Orinbar loses 2 HP and one event roll. Make your final event roll!

Ouch. Ouch. Ouch.

THAT HAD HURT. Next time he ran into an abyss he'd just stand there and hope the glowy stuff on the other side came flying over to him. And also hope that they were books or money or shiny stuff, because he did not want to encounter monsters. Those hurt, too.

Wincing, the Altmer picked himself up by pushing along the ground and using the hand that could move to tuck his books into the belts along his body - and the coins into a safe pocket.

Then he limped off - ughhh caves sucked a lot. Except for the "book" part.

Plus he was dirty now.

Battle Time for Orinbar!
Rolling for thyPOPE.
Orinbar's Final Turn!

Orinbar has encountered a(n) pair of familiar imps!

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Poor Orinbar. He just wasn't getting a break. Already broken and bruised, so close to salvation ... and that damn cave had other plans for him.

Well, okay, not the cave exactly - but those imps. Those imps! Apparently they'd followed him - or else another pair of imps intent on Altmer genocide found him. Regardless of the circumstance, however, Orinbar would find himself with flaming hair if he wasn't careful of the fireballs sailing at his face.

Or you know. Flaming face. Either or.

Roll your choice of battle skill before writing any post. If you get higher than me, you win, and may check the monster for loot (if you dare) during your next event roll. If you get lower, you lose 1HP (and the battle). If these occur, make your next event roll. On the event of a tie, wait for my second battle roll!

[Orinbar is rolling for Destruction (fire).]

For the record, Orinbar disliked imps. He disliked imps a lot. He'd even managed to come up with a plan to beat them next time. He was going to turn his fire magic on them as soon as he saw them (Orinbar, despite being well-read, had not quite read any books on "how to destroy a fire imp." Or, really, "how to get out of danger in a dangerous, murderous cave." Well, he had read something on the last one, but the advice had been to stay out and the cave had books so it wasn't like he was going to sit back and let some other greedy adventurer steal the Altmer's chance at free books.) So when they came at him this time, he thought he was ready -

Thought being the key word. But apparently past encounters with pyromaniac imps did not prepare you for future ones, because he kind of just swung around and stood there and stared - and then ducked, because they were going to burn his face off if he didn't. He had to aim his fire with his eyes shut tight and covering his face with one arm; let's see you try to do that, you infuriating imp. (> sad )

He had time to realize that his hair was singed before he collapsed.

(it's the dice gods, not you~ <3)

Horrah for heroes!

Thankfully, the imps wouldn't get a chance to eat Orinbar. Thankfully. Possibly for them; he would probably be rather bitter, if soft.

At any rate, someone must have heard the commotion; a pair of senior adventurers took care of the imps before they could pick him apart, and brought the not-so-experienced Altmer back to Loamhill to recover.

Your run is over. However, since you have run out of HP, Orinbar may not participate in "Unusual Ruins." You will have to wait for the next dungeon.
