The cave, the cave, the wicked, cruel cave. Was it laughing at him? Was it trying to taunt him with all of its stashed goodies and treats, the magical items hiding in its depths?

It must not have shown its true colors to anyone else ... no one else had spoken of these things, of glittering doors and flashing lights and paths appearing out of nowhere! Or maybe they were just keeping it to themselves, wanting to keep him out, keep everyone out, driving them off with tales of monsters and woe!

The path narrowed again, oppressively, the walls swelling inward at him ... then turn again, a familiar flash of lighting dancing across the Argonian's eyes. The door! The same door was there, the laughter rising up tauntingly. Still teasing ... still locked!

You may use lockpick if there is a locked door, or any other skill you can think of to bypass this problem. Otherwise, this turn is over and you must turn around - make your next event roll.

The cave's walls started to pull in on him, the shadows glaring hauntingly as they both conspired to crush him. No one would know, right? It was doubtful anyone knew he was down here, and even had someone seen them why should they care? Then all of a sudden the shadows were chased away by a light. That same light that had tantalized him before. Could this really be that same door? Although if a door could simply vanish, who's to say it could not appear just as well?

Drost moved closer to the door, laying a hand on it's surface as he listened to the sounds from behind, and watched the light dance out from beneath it. This time he had to get in. He would. The lock mocked him from his last failed attempt, but it would not get the last laugh. The Argonian grabbed the lock, his face earnest as he attempted once more to gain entrance.

That damn door. That ... that door. That door, with its lights and its laughter and its magic. It taunted him, and so did its lock; this time, no shiny stone fell out; in fact, a glint of light could actually be seen shining through the keyhole. But whatever was beyond it, if he looked, was obscured and blurry, like a bright ... cloud of some sort.

But facts were facts - the door was shut. His lockpicking skill just wasn't enough to hassle it open. Perhaps ... there was another way? But what would it be?

The door didn't fade this time, at least, but it certainly wasn't letting him in. In the spirit of goodwill, or perhaps taunting evil, another wall crumbled, this time showing flickers of daylight from further down. Letting him out, or running him off? What was it?

You may attempt any action that isn't a skill as you make your next event roll!

Drost hissed a curse as he once again failed to unlock the door. This time however it did not disappear, but instead opted to stay and further mock his failings as well as continue to tease him with the mysteries is hid. Oh how he wanted in, to see what wonders lay behind this uncooperative door. He ran a hand door it, claws scraping softly across it's surface.Maybe if he tried again? No, he was sure to fail.

The door just did not seem to want to open. It was as if it's whole purpose was merely to play some cheap game on his person. Like the last time though there was another crumbling sound, as as he turned to see it's source he noticed yet another path had opened. His hand drifted in to his pocket, touching the strange jewel that hid within. Suddenly he jerked his head to look at the door, eyes narrowing in thought. Perhaps..maybe..

Drost took a step closer to the door, pulling the little jewel from his pocket as he did so. It was certainly worth a try, and the only thing he had to lose was a reminder of his failure and the possible wonders he could have found. Although it was a rather nice jewel..
Shaking off the thought he took the small object and carefully stuck it back in tot he keyhole, stepping quickly back after he had in avid anticipation.

For a few long, drawn out moments ... nothing happened. Nothing new, anyway, except the laughing dimmed a bit. Then gradually, it stopped all together ...

The ground shook. It rumbled and rolled and seemed like it would shatter! For a few long moments the stone groaned like a creature twisted in half ... then again, as suddenly, quieted.

Slowly, easily, the door glided open; the fog rolled out, the dancing lights flashing brilliantly and blinding the Argonian before dimming out only entirely.

It was ... a room. A simple, square room, with a man sitting at a desk, feather pen scratching across a sheet of parchment. His clothing was unusual, half red and half purple, with black pants and a... tiny black hat pinned upon his scalp, great feathers to match his overcoat drooping from it.

He looked up at the intrusion, calmly, as though nothing unusual was happening; he blinked for a few moments, then glanced down at his parchment again before scribbling something on it and standing up. As he did, a door could be seen behind him - what a wonderful, tempting door it was! Gold and silver, with sickly black vines twisting over it, almost hiding it from view.

"I'm sorry ... you've arrived early. We're not sure if your ... admission is clear yet," said the man as he crossed the threshold towards Drost. He carried a bag, previously unseen. "However we do have an allowance for you. My Lord wishes you to take it. You can't come with me however, as it would mess up my papers. And I hate my papers to be messy."

He thrust the jingling pouch into the Argonian's claws, then just as swiftly shoved him back - away from the door, which promptly slammed and crumbled to dust, leaving no trace of having been there in the first place.

... was it real? Was it a dream? The 10 gp jingling in the bag were certainly real.

Your run is over. Feel free to make your closing post.

Drost started to feel a ping of disappointment as nothing seemed to happen. Was that really it? Suddenly the ground started to shake. It became more violent and he sidestepped, his back pressed against the wall and arms covering his head in case any rocks should fall. Just as suddenly as it started it stopped. Everything was quiet again. Then..the door opened! He had actually done it! Those lights appeared once more, blinding in intensity to the point that he threw a hand up in front of his eyes. Then those too were gone.

Able to once more see he found himself before a room. Inside the square room was a desk, and sitting at that desk was a man in rather..interesting clothing. This man seemed to be writing something, that is until his attention fell upon Drost. For a moment at least, then back to the paper, scribble scribble, and he stood. A door then caught Drost's attention, and the blue Argoanian looked it over with the same yearning he felt for the last door, only quite a bit more intense. That door, oh how he wanted to see what lay behind it as well.

Drost was so enthralled with this door that he had forgotten he was not alone, however his attention was pulled away from the door when the strange man spoke. It was as if Drost was..expected? Apparently not now. The man moved forward, something about an allowance, then a bag was thrust in to his hangs and he was pushed back. The door then crumbled before him. Once he could pull his eyes away from the spot the door had just been he proceeded to open the pouch and investigate it's contents. There appeared to be a nice few coins inside, 10 if he counted correctly. This was an..allowance?

There were so many questions buzzing around his head and yet he was sure no answers would be coming, at least not any time soon. Drost closed the bag and tucked it away as he backed up. This had been such a curiously strange adventure, and with no where else to go it seemed time to leave the cave. Down the new path he went, heading for the lights which beckoned him out. Strange indeed.
