Anyone uses this? I been using it for quite a whle now - over a year - and I was going in and out, but I really suck to it. Heck I installed it for my pa's computer and my netbook. Pacman is my favorite package manager aside from APT and rolling release modles makes it ideal for my situation. However, the GUI part of pacman (shaman) really needs to be worked out a lot more.

Do you have a working installation of shaman? Right now the aqpm it depends on is flagged out of date in the AUR, so I had to settle for a git release of chase to get a updater in my task bar.

I'm an Arch User, too! I like the concept of the "Arch Way" and the easy system config stuff -> rc.conf

Rolling release is also great, never like that "is this going to be all right?" thought before every ubuntu dist-upgrade.

Debian (and Ubuntu) also offer rolling-releases for more advanced users. But rolling releases are just as prone to breakage as any other strategy.

In other words, you drank their kool-aid and all you got was a false sense of security.

Its not the promise of stability that caused me to fall in love with rolling release, because things still can break (and in my experience break more often in Rolling release but fixes are quick to come), instead it is the fact that all you need is one command to keep the system up to date no:

{apt-get|yum|zypper} {update|upgrade|dist-upgrade}

Instead just run:

pacman -Syu

Once a day and I'm am up to date
