Orpheus raised his head up into the darkening sky. Dusk was fast approaching and he preferred it so. Being a creature of darkness, it was his time to shine. The moon was already peeking waking up to greet the stars.

Orpheus snorted at the thought. Where did that come from? The shiny umbreon leap off the boulder and disappeared into the trees. As he moved, his chained foot occasionally get caught in branches and twigs of the underbrush but it didn't faze him. He has gotten use to moving quietly in these woods but Orpheus did not worry about quietness tonight. His chained collar beat at his chest and back as he leaped over tree stumps and bushes.

Most wild pokemon were weary of him. They kept their distance and any trainers that camp out in his forest, tend to leave quickly later that night, claiming the forest was haunted as their equipment gets destroyed.

As much as he would love to show what he thought of humans, he knew that the humans could outnumber him with their 'pets' and powerful weapons, if they had any.

So he learned to just scary them away and that's what he plans to do tonight. There was talk among the wild pokemon that humans were lurking in his forest. He plans to fix that.

Adriel stepped around the edge of a lake, his feet shuffling quickly as he spun and moved his body in odd ways. His bag lay away from him, spilling its guts of jars and instruments onto a blanket, herbs and half-way-made pastes were there, left out for the moment.

Arthmael sat near the bag and blanket, the ninetales' head was slightly quirked to the side as he watched the pokemon-scented human do...well..he wasn't sure what he was doing. "(I am sorry, but.....again, what are you doing?)" He had met Adriel just a while ago, and while he had confuse him for a psychic pokemon disguise as a human, he had learn to like the 'pokeman' and all his quirks....well..most of them.

"Its called dancing...." The healer chuckled, quiet out of breath as he stop and kneeled down, taking a drink of the lake water before he continuo speaking. "I was dancing....I got cold and instead of making a fire, moving eratically warms me just fine...." He walked back to the other and smiled. "I know, its strange....and...I am not great at it."

"(I thought you were having a heart attack....)"

"And standing there is your responce to that?"

"(I was assure by the strange pokemon called Nudo that you are capable of surviving far worse things....He says you are kind of like him, but not? What does he mean?)"

"It relates back to smelling like a pokemon, so you know..."

"(....do not speak of it?)"

"Right!"

Arthmael gave a huff, well that certainly limited a lot of his questioning curiosities about the man. "(Why are we here?)"

"I need new herbs, and making healing creams on the spot just after you cut them is the best way to preserve them in full power. YOU are here because you were bored back at the dojo and decided that coming with me would be a great idea." Adriel answer automacally, it was still strange understand pokemon. The large mewtwo-'horn' like headphones covering his ears shined and pulsed with different lights, he adjust them when he realize the thumping he was hearing was the ninetails' heart. The machines were still iffy and sometimes frequency went way off.

Arthmael shifted his weight again. "(Again, how do you understand me? The mewtwo is not here....)"

"He is...you just can't see him....he is probably flying somewhere above the clouds....he likes to be upthere a lot...."

'(I still don't understand how this...'bond' works...)"

"Neither do I, but hey, it makes my job easier to understand you..."

Orpheus tilted his head to listen to the wild pokemon, trying to understand their gibbering. They are giving him mixed information. One hoothoot says that there was a human with a pokemon couple miles north. A ratatta says differently and counters it that it was a psychic pokemon disguised as a human. Preposterous. What pokemon in their right mind would disguise themselves has human? What idiocy.

This was why Orpheus did not rely solely on wild pokemon. They cannot tell the difference between a twig and a branch.

"Enough!" Orpheus hissed. The whole area where he stood hushed quickly. Grounded pokemon rustled nervously whereas flying pokemon leapt higher into the tree, away from the grumpy pokemon. "I will investigate myself. Don't interfere."

With that warning, the shiny umbreon dashed off with the vague idea of a human scent. He knows what they generally smell like but like pokemon, each have their own unique smell. He had been around more than his fair share of humans and had enough of the stench to recognize it from a good distance.

From previous expereince, humans tend to camp near a body of water to refresh themselves. They only body of water north of this forest was Agmon Lake.

As he got closer to the lake, his steps along the ground got quieter and his shiny glow dimmed. Strange. There's no human smell anywhere. Were they mistaken?

When he was merely couple hundred yards away from the lake, he could hear talking. Yes. Definitely human with what sounds like a ninetales but....where is the human's disgusting odor? What in Arceus is going on here?

Adriel hummed softly as he worked on cutting some herbs and putting them away into a jar, he smiled as he saw from the corner of his eye the ninetails leaning in slightly with a perked up ear to listen to the notes he hummed. He had already figure Arthmael a music lover, however, the pokemon was very reserved and would probably never admit to it.

"Its kind of quiet tonight..."

"(Hmmm...indeed.....it is....)"

"Maybe I should sing!"

"(I think we, the pokemon, would like to keep our hearing intact)"

"I am not bad at singing....no one complains when I sing in the kitchen while cooking..."

"(I believe they fear their dinner will be spoil if they do...)"

"..............." The healer gave him a look.

"(Ok, ok, you are not a bad singer....but you DO choose horrible strange songs to sing.)"

"They are not!"

"(You were singing about a purple pie made from sea water and alien guts stuffing yesterday!)"

"Alright.....but I do know normal songs...."

"(I'll believe it when I hear it)" Arthmale's eyes widen when he realize what he just say. He had given the other permission to sing, he just hung his head and waited.

The healer gave a smirk and ruffled the ninetail's spiked mane before going back to his work. He began to sing, but to the pokemon's surprise, the song had no words to it, but just the healer's rusty voice vocalizing in long beutiful notes. The ninetails lay down and listen closely to the sad meaning behind the wordless song.

Orpheus approached even more cautiously. There was something fishy going on here and it wasn't the magikarps.

As silently as he could, Orpheus peeked from the bushes that blocked his view from the lake's edge. As his eyes confirmed his ears but not his nose, which never failed him before!

Eyes narrowing, he watched the 'human' talking to the ninetales as if he can understand pokemon lingo. What in the...? A human that speaks pokemon? Unheard of but that's what he was seeing...

Orpheus' ears was pinned back when the 'human' started to sing. Urgh. It wasn't that the 'human' couldn't sing. The umbreon had heard worse from other campers but that wasn't the point. His red eyes glanced over at the ninetales, who relaxed a bit as he listened to the 'human' sang.

Well, there's one way to shut the guy up, pokemon or not.

With a devious smirk, Orpheus did a 180 degree face and kicked up some mud and flung them at the direction of the supposed human. His aim has gotten quite good over the years. He hope one of his shots catches the weirdo in the mouth.

Adriel began to cough and spit out most of the mud on the ground next to him. Coughing again, he rose to his feet and went to the lake, cleaning out his mouth with some water. "I thought we agreed that I wasn't bad....and you know....mud is good for you, but not that way!"

The ninetails looked at him with a tilted head. "(I didn't do that....)"

"Then who...." He looked around suspiciously, his dark purple eyes narrowing as he looked about, his mewtwo-horn 'headphones' twitched and moved much like animal ears, twitching and moving up and down at each side of his head, taking cues from certain face muscle twitches.

Orpheus was having a hard time keeping his laughter in when the human choked down one of his mud-slaps. His whole body was heaving with suppressed glee. It was rare to see Orpheus laugh in the presence of a human but one suppose these were times the only situations he would find joy being around them; at their expense.

As the umbreon attempted to control his amusement, he released a Confuse Ray to disorient them even further, fully unaware how Adriel was picking up any movement or activity in the area.

Both horn/ears perked up suddenly, a low-pitched hummm went through his ears and he suddenly dove to the left and out of the attack's way. His eyes narrow in the direction it could had possible come from.

Arthmael was not so lucky and was grazed by the confuse ray. While he was not completely confuse, he found himself a little out of it.

Adriel raised to his full height and gave a low growl. "It isn't exactly a fair fight if you hide around the bushes like a coward!" He wasn't sure if a wild pokemon was messing with him, or some odd trainer. There was the chance of a ghost pokemon wanting to cause trouble, but it seem unlikely.

Orpheus amused switched like a light at the human's accusation. His eyes flashed bright red that would be clearly visible through the bushes. He emitted a menacing growl.

"You dare call me a coward when you humans use others to fight your battles for you?" Orpheus scoffed. "It's you that is the coward, filth."

The umbreon finally revealed himself, flashing his blue neon markings before flashing a bright light to blind the human for a moment before walking confidently into the opening.

Orpheus stood proud and tall with his chained collar resting down his neck. The chained leg trailing behind lightly as the pokemon glared over to the pokemon-scented human. Orpheus snorted in disgust at the very thought. Despicable.

Arthmael gave a low growl as he stepped away from the umbreom, his crest mane bristling up, his tails moving oddly, like mad snakes getting ready to strike.

Adriel blinked away the lights that had fogged his eye sight for a moment, one his dark eyes focus on the aggresive pokemon, he arched an eyebrow. "Oh, I am quiet sure someone is rolling in their grave, laughing at such accusation you done me, little eevee...." He chuckled darkly. "I do not use my pokemon for fighting unless they wish to fight or ask me to assit on one of their vendettas. The only time I down right order them to fight is when its nessesary, such as when a pokemon I am trying to heal needs to be subdue long enough for me to apply my medicines or bandages, and even then, its rare for me to do such things as to call on my pokemon for help."

He moved slowly, not away or nearer the umbreon, but the ninetails, making sure he was alright. "I fight my own battles...." He removed his long white coat, letting it drop to the ground, metal clanking and clicking softly from the hidden weapons between it. The removal revealed his almost white skin which had scars and healing wounds all over it. "Almost all these wounds and scars have been given upon me by pokemon...all minus this one..." He tapped the large scar over his heart. "This one, a human gave me personally."

"Now, little eevee, I have done nothing to you to deserve this treatment....nor to be called a coward. You, however, have given me no reason to pull back my own statement. You are coward for using light tricks and hidden attacks when we have made no provocation...."

Orpheus gave the most briefest glance as he passed by the shiny ninetales before turning his full attention to Adriel as he sized him up. This human was definitely strange to say the least. Orpheus cannot pin point what pokemon he smells like. He has more of a psychic scent to him but Orpheus could detect some others that were lost to him.

This was no ordinary human that's for sure. All the reason to be more cautious. The shiny umbreon wasn't really paying much attention to the blabbering that was coming out of the humans mouth, especially the name calling. Orpheus would not fall for that bait.

He was, however, very attentive to the weapons and scars on the human's person. So, this human was no stranger to battles of his own. Almost a kindred spirit if it wasn't for his hatred for humans. If it was a different circumstance, the two might become 'brothers' of sorts.

"I see you are not strangers to battle yourself. You may not be as cowardly as I thought but all the same. Humans in general are selfish, only thinking for themselves and their victories." Orpheus kept his eyes fixated on the Adriel, watching for any twitch to reach for any of the weapons on the human's person. He had personal experience with one, almost lost eye if it weren't for a passing Chansey.

The two gave each other a wide berth as they circled each other identical in human arena when they size their opponent for weaknesses. All the wild pokemon in the area fled. They could already sense a impending battle if not bloodshed was about to happen and they did not want to be caught in the middle of it.

The umbreon had no intention to apologies for his words, even if they were false.

"So, I'll say this once, human. This is MY forest and in my forest, humans are not welcome here or they pets." Orpheus tossed his head in the direction of the ninetales without leaving his eyes on Adriel. "I will allow you to leave this forest in peace if you leave now. Otherwise..." Orpheus left the words into the tense air for the imagination.
