That's right. I'm not kidding. Torchwood set for U.S.RTD is developing a U.S. version of Torchwood to air on Fox. This rings a hundred warning bells with me and makes me cringe. The last British show I liked was Life on Mars. It got the American treatment and it was awful. However, even if this is being written by RTD, I'm still worried. What do you all think of there being a Torchwood in the states. And more importantly, would you watch this if it actually ended up airing?

I read about this today too. : | I can't imagine it lasting very long, especially on FOX. I've heard that they don't usually like sci-fi stuff, and I can't imagine FOX being very accepting of a show that has a person like Captain Jack or the other things that have happened in the original Torchwood. If it actually airs, I'll watch it just to see what it's like, even though it probably won't be any good. I saw the American Life on Mars when it was on tv, the first couple were okay, but the rest wasn't great.

I'm a bit scared of what they might do to it, but I will commit myself to watching the first episode at least. I guess this would be the "missing" Torchwood Four. You'd think it'd be in a more obscure location.

This is crazy. They can't do this! It's going to be bloody terrible! I agree with Sakura, no Captain Jack?! I thought they were already making a new season of Torchwood, why would they need a branch show? d:

It's not going to happen anymore, Fox pulled out, so Torchwood USA is on hold. BBC News Article - Torchwood USA on holdQuote: Plan to make a US version of the Doctor who spin-off Torchwood have been put on ice after TV network Fox pulled out. In a statement, BBC Worldwide said both companies had "mutually agreed not to progress together with a 13-episode serialized Torchwood format". However, the BBC said discussions with other networks were continuing and plans to get the show made for US audiences were still in the pipeline. The sci-fi drama, starring John Barrowman, has been a hit in the UK. The show, which follows a group of secret agents battling human and alien enemies, began life on BBC Three in 2006. It proved so popular that it was moved to BBC Two - and attracted another ratings boost when a third series was shown on BBC One last year. However, the last move resulted in the series being cut from 13 episodes to five - allowing a single continuing story to be stripped across a week of programmes. At the time, Barrowman criticised the decision, saying he felt like the show was "being punished". BBC Worldwide is the commercial arm of the BBC.

I worry wen a good show gets Americanized most are not worth the time to watch them. So far all of the programmes were nothing like the originals. I am glad that fox pulled out the way that they treat sci-fi it would have been puled of the air quickly.

This is the biggest mistake Fox has ever made. JB was right. This is a punishment for the show, since it's now homeless. And I read in one post that they were trying to "de-gay" Torchwood. Come on...Never going to happen.

I'm okay with (almost) any other American channel doing Torchwood. Not only does Fox cancel the good Scifi shows, but they argue with the writers. It's always "You can't do that" or "Let's change this" or "We won't air this one because it's too dark." Why bother getting these writers if you won't let them do their job? I don't know what other channels do this but Fox has made me a little bitter.
