Lets talk about Hardcore Punk shall we?
Its the genre that influenced Grunge and Alternative Rock. Its the genre from where Emocore and Metalcore was born. Closely associated with Speed Metal and Thrash Metal. Defined by bands such as Black Flag, Bad Brains and Minor Threat.
So what exactly is it? Hardcore Punk is basically your average Punk Rock, only faster and louder. Since Hardcore Punk is closely intertwined with Trash Punk and Punk Rock, as well as having heavily influenced Metalcore and Emo, I will allow some degree of discussion about those genres as well.
Some of my favourite Hardcore Punk bands include (in no particular order): Refused Minor Threat Embrace Beyond Husker Du Dag Nasty (thier first 2 albums makes up for everything afterwards) Gorilla Biscuits Bad Religion (sorta hardcore, yet not... meh) Strike Anywhere
A general list of Hardcore Punk bands: Black Flag Bad Brains Circle Jerks the Dead Kennedys 7 Seconds Cro Mags the Misfits Youth Of Today Negative Approach Raised Fist the Dwarves Anti-Flag Sick Of It All Turning Point Warzone Rise Against Champion TSOL The Casaulties Negative FX the Adolescents Crass Agnostic Front
As mentioned before, I'm willing to allow the discussion of some Emocore and Metalcore bands such as Rites of Spring, Embrace, Everytime I Die, Thrice, Killswitch Engage, As I Lay Dying, Atreyu etc.
However, one thing I will not tolerate is any attempt for any holier-than-thou re-education program. As I said, I'm willing to allow the discussion of bands which aren't hardcore punk but have obvious roots or influences from the genre. If someone names something you percieve to be outragious, either give a clear definition of what you percieve to be hardcore punk in a non-offensive manner or say nothing in reply at all.
Ideas for discussion: Bands you like, songs you like, concerts you've been to or are thinking of going to, what the music has done to influence your life, history and which band influenced what movement etc etc.
With all that said, enjoy!

xXx White Lily xXx I must admit that I am sadly uneducated in this area of music sweatdrop Bad Religion's pretty much the only band on your list that I listen to. I actually contemplated whether to add Bad Religion on the list, their tempo is definitely up there with the Bad Brains and such but it was their pitch that made me ponder whether or not they were hardcore... so I consulted some of my know knowledgeable friends and decided yeah... I'll add them xp Not the loudest in the list but definitely one of the most intelligent!

Yeah I thought that when I read it. Cause I never thought I liked Hardcore, but I do like Bad Religion. I was gonna go see them live last August but the friends I was meant to be going with went to see Korn instead (it was on the same day)

If you like Bad Religion then I'm sure you'd also enjoy Strike Anywhere, a tad more melodious (still fast mind you) with emotionally charged screaming vocals as well...

Frankly, after hearing "Between Christian Rock And A Hard Place", I'm not quite sure where their thrill lies... one of my friend apparantly enjoys a bit of them and told me that "if you like the Gorilla Biscuits, you gotta love these guys"... I strongly disagree... but that's just me.
