The Great Gates of Flame guard the entrance that leads to the Flame Village. Built early in the second Agnikage's reign, the gates are notable for having a large net guard the main entrance, which is lit when used, and for the statues of two dragons. A large statue of the second Agnikage stands in the middle of the entrance, flanked on either side by two statues of dragons. When enemies are spotted, a net rises between the statues and ignites, "closing" the gate in a wall of fire. There are at least five guards standing at all times and should anyone be seen entering without consulting them, they will be dealt with immediately.

Inside the village slightly to the left of the entrance a small patch of dirt began to rumble vigorously. In that instant a giant crystal spire shout forth from the ground, dirt flew about as the spire made its entrance to the flame gates. The spire was fused with another figure, and slowly the colors separated and the shape slowly revealed itself as Nartzu, his long blood read hair flowed in the wind as sat upon the top of the ten foot spire. Nartzu let out a sigh of relief and said "Another day" as the words trailed from him tongue, he looked towards the center of his palm. A crystal began to form protruding from his skin, the crystal shined in the brilliance of the sunlight. As the sun continued to hit the crystal it gave Nartzu a jolt of energy and then faded away as fast as it came. The jounin would sit here on his perch for a while waiting for something interesting to happen.

Xaoh came walking from the inside of the village towards the gate. Xaoh was leaving the village to go to the Valley of the end to take out the Otokage and his men. If anyone else joined the fight then that would be there loss also. As Xaoh walked past the gates he seen Nartzu and said as he walked past him.

"Hey Nartzu, we are all going out on a mission even Kazumei we need you and the rest of the ninja here to protect the village just incase the Sound decideds to attack the village while we are gone attacking there Kage."

As Xaoh said that he continued to walk through the village gates. As Xaoh did that he disappeared in the distance of the area.

From a distance the shinobi sitting on the crystal spire notices the jounin known as Xaoh walking towards his position. Xaoh spoke his words aloud as his feet paced along with the tone of his voice. Nartzu's eyes shifted between Xaoh and the crystal formation that jutted from his palm, giving a slight pause in his actions Nartzu listened intently to what the man had to say. Then Nartzu only nodded in agreement, lowering his head for a second and back upwards again, as he confirmed the message portrayed to him.

Nartzu's next words rang out to Xaoh right before he reached the path leading to the Land of Fire, "I shall protect this village starting this very instance comrade." With those words Nartzu stood upon his crystal spire as his hands shifted back and forth between themselves upon the formation of various hands signs Kekkie Genkai: Crystal/Bone Manipulation Crying Forest

As the syllables ran from the mans lips a series of what seemed to be an endless crystal trees shot forth from the earth around the entire flame village, until they came full circle to the front gates blocking Xaoh's path to exit the area. A larger crystal tree came forth from the spire Nartzu was standing upon, as it spread its limbs Nartzu casually stepped onto a jutting branch as it grew further out. The trees where beautiful and magnificent. Holding just as much durability as beauty that they retained so well. Nartzu was now on the highest branch of the tree he occupied inside the village walls.

His voiced boomed out from the treetop above, "I dare any shinobi brave enough to wander into the forest protecting this village for it might be their last journey." At that moment Nartzu started to separated the layers of tree's that were blocking Xaoh's path of exit. Slowly one by one the trees retracted out of Xaoh's walkway grinding their way back beneath the soil from whence they came. Once again his voice rang from the treetops, "Go to this Otokage, if he can truly be called by that prefix. Introduce him to what happens when you play with fire." As Xaoh would leave the trees would resume their original positioning blocking the path that lead to the entrance of the Flame Village. With that Nartzu sealed the gates, and activated the trap nets that surrounded the Flame Village. Now having two defenses this village was prepared, weather it be piercing crystals or hellish flames. Even though the actual defenses lay within the walls beyond the net and crystal forest surrounding the village, the true threat...the Flame Village Shinobi.

Salome followed closely behind Xaoh as he exited the village. By the time she reached the area she arrived at what looked like forest composed of pure crystal. It was one of the most beautiful structures she had seen before in her time.

"I hope the defense of that technique is as strong as beautiful it is."

She smiled as she headed towards the very gates themselves. Bringing her attention back on the situation at hand, she continued through the passage Nartzu left opened for Xaoh to pass through.

Even from the distance Kazumei could tell that Nartzu was on grind mode. The famous crystal forest technique of his was already set up in defense in front of the village gates. If there was one thing about the Flame, they didn't require their kages to hold their hands through missions nor assignments regarding things that were in the range of common sense. Once they realized the nature of the mission that was recently launched, each of them had already been trained how to respond during situations like these.

"Anyone comes through without invitation kill them on sight, it's that simple. Even if they're only visiting. "

He said to Nartzu as he passed him by through the entryway left open for the designated shinobi to pass through. It was up to mainly up to Nartzu to deal with whoever attempted to bypass the flame gates so the village's safety itself was far from a worry on Kazumei's mind. At this point it had become common routine for shinobi to set up the necessary defense in their own style during situations like these.

Takashi could see the crystal trees from the distance which told him that the village itself was making preparations for anything to come. This gave him an exciting feeling that something big was about to go down. Something that would cause possible war between villages. They would oh so enjoy this one if they got there int time. By the time Takashi reached the Atarbu standing in front of the district, he nodded at the fellow and patted him on the shoulder.

"That's a damn good technique of yours if I can say so myself, anyone getting through that will be killed instantly by the time they can actually make it through."

He smiled in admiration of the Atarbu's work beside him. With that he released the Atarbu's shoulder and continued through the passage where the others had gone.

Once Asha made it to the village, she noticed the shining forest ahead of her. It was no doubt Nartzu's technique. He was probably one of the few Atarbu who knew how to fully use the technique to it's fullest potential. Once she made it to the entrance she was stop for a few minutes and glance at Nartzu.

"I believe I'm the last one to go. Once I leave you should seal things up here until we return. Good luck, if such a word exists in this village."

She smiled and headed out into the forest where her form would vanish as she gained distance beyond the flame gates.

A white snow leopard walked slowly up to the gates. About half a meter from the gates the leopard bowed and made it openly evident that it was holding a scroll. Anyone that knew much about animals and the typical location of animals would know that this animal was from Yukigakure.

The scroll simply read:
The current Yukikage, Kizu Sugi, request your presence or a representative of yourself to meet him in Yukigakure. The reasons for this request are in no way hostile but, due to their potentially sensitive nature, cannot be included in this message. Please write on this scroll if you yourself will come to Yukigakure, a representative of yourself will come to Yukigakure, or if you decline the request.

With much respect,
Kizu Sugi, Yukikage

Nartzu was till sitting high on his treetop with a clear overview of the village, as well as eyesight past the crystalline forest of anyone headed to the village. The forest shined brightly as the sun passed through its numerous branches and glimmering bark. Nartzu thanked his fellow comrades as he paved way for them down the passage do the Land of Fire. "Trust me, any shinobi who dares enter this forest shall be in for a rude awakening, I hope they like suprises," with that Nartzu let out a light chuckle as he laughed. Nartuz took a strong liking to the female shinbi known as Asha, something about her just made Nartzu's chakra tingle. He sure did love a woman with a little fight in her, or in Asha's case a lot of fight. Nartzu then threw a wink from his eye at the woman and said, "Hey gorgeous, if you're as beautiful as you are dangerous we should catch some ramen sometime!" After he said that a beautiful crystalline flower was formed in the hand of Asha. Nartzu was a glutton for punishment, he couldn't help himself, but then again he was a glutton for the punishment of others as well.

Then he spoke again "Good luck everyone, may your aim have diligence and your strikes be true. Show the enemy what true shinobi are capable of." Nartzu nodded as his last few comrades exited the area. Nartzu then sat on the glimmering tree branch next to him as he made himself comfortable. The flame shinobi then open a satchel on his waistline pulling out a small bottle and said, "This should should help my next technique a bit." Nartzu then downed the bottle of sake to looses himself up, knowing that the sake would not aid his preformance as much as he'd like it was a good excuse none the less. "It'll relieve the tension of anxiety waiting here for the attack from the opposing shinobi."

Nartzu looked down as he noticed a white catlike creature making its way through the forest, its white fur being reflected on the crystalline tree's as it passed each mirroring bark. The majestic creature posed no threat in addition it possessed a scroll, so Nartzu spared its life as it made way. Nartzu watched as the snow leopard humbly approached the Gates of Flame. The creatures eyes locked with Nartzu's for a split-second. Nartzu's head then took the form of a crystalline cyrus wolf as he howled at the white cat. The howl was blood curling and the white leopard jumped hastily and dropped the scroll and scampered off into the forest in fear.

A cyrus wolf then leapt forth from Nartuz's body down the the gates below and snatched the scroll up onto the pallet of his mouth holding it gently. The wolf's head then emerged out of Nartzu's chest opening its mouth which presented the scroll in his hand. He then unraveled the scroll holding it fully opened in his hands. Nartzu's eyes then scrolled over the paper reading every detail, finished with the letter Nartzu then folded the paper. Nartzu formed a crystal hawk in his hand and placed the parchment in its beak as it clamped shut. Nartzu sent his regards with the hawk on a second sheet of paper that the hawk clutched with his talons explaining that the village was in tip top, and everything was fine. The bird jolted from his palm it flew off in the distance heading straight for Kazumei's location, to present him with these two very important letters of importance. Nartzu then readied himself for a series of hand signs as the hawk flew into the distance slowly fading from sight.

Nartzu then preformed a series of hand signs Ninjutsu: Cyrus Wolves. In that Instance hundreds of patches of dirt began to rumble as groups of crystalline spikes began to appear around the village gates throughout the crystalline forest and throughout the Flame Village as well. The soil was tense as the bunches of crystals quivered with anticipation. Then one by one each patch of shine exploded into a cloud of brilliant white dust. The scratching of the ground could be heard along with snarls and low aggressive growls echoed throughout the area. Then as the dust settled for each glistening cloud that released itself, there stood a Cyrus Wolf as vicious as it was beautiful. Nartzu smile as some wolves prowled lowly to the ground and others leapt onto the tree branches waiting for someone to make the mistake of going through the forest.

Natzu though to himself "Hmph if I was a by-passer I would probably wonder into this beautiful thicket of crystalline trees just for sight seeing purposes." Anywho Nartzu did think of himself of a shinobi tourist, he gave himself a light chuckle. Then again his "tourism" was the reason he had killed so many shinobi before hand, lets just say Nartuz was a glutton for punishment as well as other peoples punishment as stated before. Nartzu then sat down and began to meditate. Keeping a keen awareness the forest would let him know if an intruder was near.

Then off in the distance Nartzu saw a cloaked shinobi heading for the forest as he though to himself "Here we go, my first victim." The strange man was oddly uninterested by the forest and this threw Nartzu flabbergasted quite a bit, but nor he or the next shinobi not of the Flame Village would get served death as a four course meal, courtesy from Kazumei's orders himself. The man's cloak was long and it protected his identity as hit hung low over the top of his brow shadowing his facial features. He fashioned a symbol very similar to the Atarbu Clan symbol that rested on his cloak, with also threw Nartzu's attention a bit. The silent man brandished no weapon from what he could see, so that was one less thing Nartzu had to worry about. The man walked through the forest like he was familiar with it, a keen sense of direction. Almost as if he had been here before, and he was heading straight for the Gates of Flame.

The wolves jutted crystal fur hinged upon their back standing straight up as their eyes watched the man. The wolves were waiting for their creators signal to pounce this strange newcomer. And then the snap of Nartzu's fingers could be heard as the sound skipped across the area. The wolves readied their stance, coiling their back legs as the began to release for the attack. The unknown individual was still walking at the same pace paying little to no attention to the wolves that were upon his person and inches away from lunging at him. Then there were four wolves, two from the treetops and two more that jolted from a short distance ahead of the man and directly behind him as well. He was trapped and had not were to go, then in what seemed like a split second the mans robes shifted slightly as he preformed a series of hand sings. The wolves where now inches if not centimeters away from the man, their teeth cocked back as the could practically taste the mans flesh. Then the man released a small orb of light from his palm and the first two wolves that pounced from the tree tops were almost absorbed into the mans left and right hands. The wolves' bodies were then instantly distorted, as they were vacuumed between his fingers.

Nartu's eyes widened as the wolves vanished. Then the next to wolves leapt from the ground almost as if to avenge their brethren who were consumed by these gleams of light. The two wolves were just absorbed by the mans chest and back, distorting as they were sucked into the man's chest and back. His robes flickered slightly as the hung on the man's frame the wolves vanishing. Nartzu's buzz wore off from his sake almost instantly as he witness the mans magical act that shocked his eyes down to their sockets. Then as the man stepped behind one of the many crystal tree's he was gone...vanished just like the cyrus wolves. Nartzu then sunk into the tree he was standing upon as he appeared next to the tree outside the village gates that the man was last see. Nartuz liquidized himself into the tree below on the outskirts of town. Nartzu's eyes searched around the area of the tree relentlessly, but to no avail the man was not seen.

He then heard a deep bellowing voice from the largest tree inside the village gates from hence Nartzu had came. "What kind of lousy shinobi lets an intruder into his village with such realative ease." The man then laughed with a deep echo surging through the forest. Nartzu then transported his body back to the treetop within town. As Nartzu found himself back upon the treetop the man was gone. Had Nartuz drank too much sake without noticing, he took the bottle out of his satchel and flung it to the ground below the tree hearing a faint shatter, he then felt a crashing noise ten times that in the back of his mind as if hundreds of glasses were broken simultaneously in his head.

The one word echoe through his break as if a scream louder than any noise pierced his ears FATHER it was his own voice...in that instance, the cloaked man appeared behind Nartzu. His body transporting through the tree's just as Nartzu did. The man had a kunai in his right hand as he wrapped his left arm around Nartzu's neck in a sleeper hold like position. The man was Nartuz's father the legendary Shindaru of the Atarbu Clan, then in one swift motion he slit Nartu's neck the pain surged through his body, the kunai ripping through skin and then clean through his jugular like a hot katana through butter. Blood began to spray from Nartzu's throat as his body went into a cold shock. Shindaru then whispered into Nartu's ear "You bring shame to the Atarbu Clan, you are a asinine to even begin to compare yourself to me. Foolish child you still have much to learn. Take this gift if you can even handle it." Shindaru then threw Nartu's cold body off the top of the tree sending his cold body flailing through the air down to the stern dirt in the village below.

Aloud thump was heard in the back of Nartu's thoughts as his meditation was shattered, just like the glass in the back of his mind. Nartzu's then scrambled about sitting on his rear as he grabbed his throat hysterically, feeling for any damage. Amazed that there was nothing there it was all an illusion...a genjutsu. Nartzu formed a crystal mirror in the center of his palm and looked at his throat, there was a massive semi-circle scar. It was indeed a genjutsu but the scar was very real. His eyesight shifted as he felt a cold smooth lick pace the side of his neck and there stood the leader of Nartzu's wolf pack with the rest of his wolves, worried about their creator. Nartzu patted the wolf's head has he stood up, gathering his stance again and said "Im fine boy go back to your patrols and take this bunch with you", the wolf looked at Nartzu's neck and back at the pack of cyrus wolves with that the larger wolf signaled the rest of the wolves to resumed their posts.

Nartzu resumed his post as well at the tip of the tree once again , his mind boggled at the fact of what happened. Nartuz then rubbed his neck feeling the scar implanted on him through a genjutsu which seemed impossible. Nartuzu's gaze then shot out to the edge of the treeline as he saw the cloaked figure resembling Shindaru Atarbu. A small crystal sparrow then was ejected from his shoulder grabbing a parchment of paper from Shindaru's hand. Then the man was gone as the sparrow glided along the treetops towards Nartzu, its wings shining beautifully in the horizon's rays. The sparrow finally reached Nartzu with the parchment clamped between his beak. Flapping its wings vigorously the small bird let out a ear piercing chirp as it exploded into a brilliant dust. Nartzu stood still as the dust settled using his mouth to inhaling the cloud deep into his lungs and realsing a glittery smoke through his nose. This gave him a tremendous boost in chakra refilling him along with a substantial surplus releasing from his body spawning eight more wolves to replace the four that were absorbed along with four more. Its the least his father could do from the genjutsu draining most of his chakra. The note that landed in his hand had many symbols etched into the damage scroll's texture. Nartzu pulled the parchment closer to his eyes, the paper reading:

You have come far my son, but your journey has just begun. You have many trials ahead of you and your training his highly incomplete. In my eyes you are still a genin rather than a jounin but your comrades think otherwise, apparently by letting you guard the village. That newly applied scar you have across your neck is a sealed genjutsu, but only time will grant you that power, it is called Preying Forest. You will know when the time is right but it will not be soon. Be prepared foolish child the next time I show myself the genjutsu might be a reality.

-Shindaru Atarbu

Nartzu folded the letter up quickly and placed it in his satchel where the sake once was. He rubbed his neck once more. Still shocked and in awe from the genjutsu, his skin was covered in a cold sweat as beads dripped from the tip of his fingers, nose, and chin. Nartuz then shattered a layer of his skin with sheer willpower revealing a new layer dry and ready for battle. Nartzu then folded his arms together and searched the village area for any irregularities from his trance within the genjutsu. Comforted by the familiar look of the village Nartuz went back to his duties of keeping an eye on the village of flame.

The leopard didn't move. It had been given no instructions to return to Yukigakure so it simply awaited a response.User Image

Mantotsu noticed the snow leopard that showed up in the Crystal Forest. It's white snowy could be easily spotted from the distance as he approached. It was no doubt that it was from the snow country. There were just about no other locations a snow leopard could survive due to the environmental temperatures it had adapted to. Before he passed the leopard he gave it a small pet across the head and smiled. The only thing he could of thought of was that the Yukikage was delivering a message, but apparently Nartzu here must have gotten to it.

"I see you're keeping things secured, anybody comes through that is history." He said to Nartzu who was probably drunk by now as he could smell the scattered contents of the shattered sake bottle. "You could have at least shared some for me." He laughed, though Mantotsu didn't really drink. "By the way it's me. Mantotsu Hozaru of the Hozaru Clan." He called out to Nartzu if he didn't notice from where he was sitting in the crystallized trees.

Nartzu simply nodded at the fellow shinobi. He saw the boy down by the village gates. Nartzu slowly angled his arm upwards as he moved his hand back and forth signaling that he recognized his position. Nartzu's buzz had long worn off during the genjutsu he had to endure, but then again getting your throat slit by your own father being an illusion will just about kill any buzz or feeling of euphoria that one could possess.

Nartzu smiled as he signaled one of his cyrus wolves to run into town. The shining wolf ran through the village streets as dust flew up from every crystal paw that paced the dirt roads and alleyways below. The wolf then came upon a small ramen shop, then the wolf made short humorous bark as it ran inside the shop with a quick dash. There was some confusion for the watching villagers outside of the small shop as there was trashing and crashing going about. Then a voice rang out "BE GONE WITH YOU VILE CREATURE GET OUT AND GET LOST!!!!" in a playful jolt the shimmering wolf glided once more through the dusty streets with a bottle of sake in its mouth.

The wolf then came back to the boy who was at the Gates of Flame. The wolf's feet sliding rapidly as the dust flew about in the air. When the cloud finally cleared itself there was the same pesky crystalline wolf sitting on its hind legs with a bottle of sake in the clench of his jaw. The wolf then tossed the bottle at the boy and let out a incentive bark signaling the boy to drink. Nartzu let out a humorous laugh for once as he awaited the boy's response.

From a high altitude a paper airplane descended some distance away from the village gate, beyond any hope of sight or observance. Hovering above the ground the paper airplane morphed, a technique known as Shikigami no Mai as they were being manipulated by Kyuuji Iwaku the Kusakage from a remote location. The folding paper soon formed the shape of a seasoned chuunin kunoichi in formal robes rather than battle attire. Her robes were predominately white, denoting peace but was shaded with pale greens, light browns and contrasted by the deep forest shades of the same colors in layers of sheer cloth. She wore the tall hat of a dignitary and carried a formal sword at her waist. The sheath of the sword was white decorated with the patterning of grasses but the hilt was wrapped in gold and silver wire, making it impossible to draw the blade. On the hilt’s butt was the symbol of Kusagkaure. Her robes fell to her mid calf where they ended in pant-like puffs of inward-pulled cloth. Protecting her feet were formal, tall wooden sandals. The only part of the sandals that touched the ground were the square heels that rested in the center of the foot, making them more like stilts. These shoes represented the fact that She would not run at someone in assault or run from another in fear.

A mild breeze picked up, ruffling her many layers but not touching her weighted hair. Hanging at her mid back was a silver ring that her long brown hair was threaded through to be wrapped around the ring woven to form an ornate design within the ring. Her eyes were a common brown but held a sharp quality of intellect and wisdom. Her nose was sharp and slightly hawkish, pointing at a mild but defined chin. Resting between these two features was a pair of scarlet painted lips, dignified and slightly smirking. Her face was heavily powdered, as in the Asian style and made her appear very pale in comparison to her lips and eyes. At her side rested a large green messenger’s bag, sealed tight with straps and a wax emblem.

When the dignitary was finished forming she made the long trek to the village gates, her feet making sharp snaps at every step, the stilts smacking the ground. Her approached would be obvious and was meant to be.

As she neared the village gates she bowed to the village and waited to be attended.
