so, last December I started taking Occella a genaric form of Yaz. I've been on yazmin (still a generic form of yaz) before with good results. last month it took three days on the sugar pills before I started my period and this month i've been on the sugar pills since sunday and still haven't started my period as of yet. I am sexually active with my boyfriend but in conjunction with the pill we always use a condom. I've never missed a pill there have been a few days where i'm about an hour late taking it but only cause i can't get to it. i don't think i'm pregnant. I don't remember doing this the last time I was on the pill. I'm just wondering if this is normal and if anyone else has experienced this. Also why this is occuring. I was on trispritec from 12yrs-13yrs for regulating period trisprintec again from 15yrs-16yrs for regulating period yaz from 16yrs-17yrs for regulating period just started taking occella for preventing pregnancy

"Most women have lighter periods while taking the pill, and in some the flow stops altogether. Light or absent flow is a normal effect of the pill, and it is quite safe. Indeed, many users consider it to be one of the pill's non-contraceptive benefits.
In the first half of a regular menstrual cycle, the ovaries produce only estrogen. Estrogen stimulates growth of the uterine lining (the endometrium). After mid-cycle ovulation, the ovary secretes both estrogen and progesterone. The progesterone blocks estrogen from continuing to stimulate endometrial growth in the second half of the cycle. At the end of the cycle, estrogen and progesterone levels drop, the endometrial lining sheds as the menstrual flow, and the cycle starts again.
In contrast, women on the pill are exposed to both estrogen and progesterone throughout the month. The progesterone dose in the pill is set at a level to have a dominant effect on the endometrium. As a result, the uterine lining grows less than it would if you weren't taking the pill. With less build up of the uterine lining, the menstrual flow is lighter. In some women the lining does not grow at all, so no period occurs. This effect is completely reversible after the pill is discontinued.
Some women are troubled by the lack of at least a light period. They may worry it is a sign of pill failure and pregnancy. Pregnancy testing can be done for reassurance. Some women prefer to try a different pill, one that allows for some flow." http://www.aolhealth.com/ask-an-expert/absence-of-period-while-taking-birth-control-pills
So according to that lady it sounds like it is safe and normal to not get a period while you're on any form of birth control pill. But I'd recommend checking with your doctor just to be safe.

A period can be late for other reasons too, including stress, travel and change in diet. Try not to worry about it so much, and hopefully it will come soon. If it hasn't arrived after a week, you could take a pregnancy test to be sure, or talk to your doctor.
In the years I was on the Pill, I never lost my period once. Of course that's me - it will affect other women differently. The only time I lost my period was on Depo Provera, but that's not a method I recommend for most women.

kieora It's just wierd cause in the past with being on the pill I can't remember loosing my period at all. Different pills can do different things to different women. So you can't judge how you'll be on this pill by comparing it to how you were on your last pill.
