There's a place in Venezuela, Lake Maracaibo, that has lightning storms 200 days a year. The ancient Yukpo people thought the "Catatumbo lightning" were sparked when fireflies met ancestral spirits. It's caused by Humid Caribbean winds meeting with cold Andes air and methane that rises from oil deposits from in the lake.
