Wow so not too long ago I saw a great special on the Fox Movie channel that went into immense detail about just how amazing the technology to create the movie is. It's really groundbreaking stuff we are talking about here...

Its the reason why the movie cost so much. They had to make most of all the new technology. Groundbreaking in every way, new doors have been opened in the movie industry.

Working with WETA Workshops is my dream job. Two more years of university and then I am so applying for anything there.

I recently used the Maya software they used to create the 3D graphics for it, so that kinda amazed me quite a bit. It took me a week to do a six second animation (I was just learning it though), and we were told that one person was hired for three months just to create the Direhorse's saddle... JUST the saddle.

Heh. good luck applying to WETA...they turned down Bungie employees, the ones whoed made Halo 3, when they tried to apply.

I have no idea what Bungie is, and I've never played a Halo game in my life.

When I said I'd apply for anything, I mean anything. Those Halo guys were probably too big for their boots and didn't try hard enough.

Plus, it kinda helps that Wellington is about an hour's drive away from here.

Bungie is one of the most successful ( and well known) game companies out ther.....have you heard of Blizzard? they did WOW and a host of other games? same type of company, only they hit jackpot with 3 excellent games, rahter than one giant mediocre one..... plenty of people want in at WETA, mostly due to the increasingly more high quality work they do for video games and movies, but I think WETA only takes the best of the best, the designers and artists and programmers who have already proven themselves on other movies or video games....

-sigh- No, I haven't heard of Blizzard either, but then again, games like that aren't really my thing.

CG is a lot more than what you think. Plus WETA don't take in the best of the best... they take in people and help develop them to the next level. That's what makes them the best.

Anyway, I was just saying that's just my dream job, and a girl's allowed to dream, right?

Lol preach it sister. Haha I think it's good that they don't take in people with tons of experience. That would kinda make working in that field a very closed market

Haha, thanks. That's what I love about doing a CG degree, there's just so much you can do with it in this day in age - and Avatar just shows that more technologies are developing constantly. It's exciting!
