I'm curious not only who it was that you saw but also why it was so awesome.

I myself have been pretty lucky in ability to attend concerts (being that I live in a very small place around 3 hours from anywhere large) and some rock while others are just mediocre.

So who and why?

Brooks & Dunn at the Houston rodeo last year; that was the concert that got me hooked on country.

But that's bound to change soon, as rodeo season is coming around again.

Jodi Messina at the Gorge, in George, WA - it's a natural ampatheatre above the Columbia Gorge and she rocked the house. She's very bubbly and excited, so she carries the crowd with her. Vince Gill closed the set ~ over 1/2 the crowd left while he was singing. I wouldn't pay to see him again.

Not really a concert, but my parents and I like to drive to Bakersfield to eat dinner at Buck Owens' Crystal Palace. Buck plays most Fridays and Saturdays, and there's always a band of some kind playing.

Vince Gil was that bad?

I think my favourite was Canada Day of this part year. It was in Toronto at Sunnyside Beach Park, it was a hot and sunny day, there was great music, and it was free!

I saw:
Aaron Pritchett, Deric Ruttan, Jimmy Rankin, Jason McCoy, Aaron Lines, Carolyn Dawn Johnson, and Paul Brandt all in one day and they all did sound top notch!

I don't know that you can ask for much more then a free, great sounding concert, outside on a nice day, with such artists.

I don't have an interest in seeing CDJ or Jimmy Rankin again (I've seen then both twice now) but I have seen Aaron P, Aaron L, Paul, Deric and Jason since and look forward to doing so again.

We went to the Brooks & Dunn Neon Circus and Wild West show on July 11, 2003. Before the show, we got to meet Aaron Lines and Jeff Bates, both of which were extremely sweet. They both signed autographs and took pictures with us. We then went inside, where we had front row seats. The seats were INCREDIBLE, and then Aaron took the stage. Aaron spoke to us, on the mic... it was so cool. Then, I caught Brad Paisley's guitar pick. Then, it was time to go backstage to meet Rascal Flatts, as we both had passes from the fan club. I got to kiss Joe Don, so my night was complete ^^;; -- but then it got even better. After the Rascal Flatts hour, which was just to DIE for, Brooks & Dunn took the stage. Kix Brooks jumped off the stage and grabbed my friend, and danced with her for Boot Scootin' Boogie. Then, Kix gave her and I both drumsticks. THEN, Ronnie Dunn ran over to me and shook my hand. I know I sound all fangirl, but Ronnie was my first celebrity crush as a child, so it was like... literally *FAINT*. It was the most awesome experience ever. heart

It's probably a toss up between that, and the Blake Shelton concert I went to about two years ago. It was my second concert of his, and at the first one I fell completely in lust with his bass player... UGH! What a cutie! I had gone backstage at the first concert and had my picture taken with him. Did I mention that's he's completely gorgeous? xp

So anyway, at the Blake concert (which was at our local amusement park), Rob, the bass guy, came up to me between the shows. He goes "HEY! YOUR NAME IS MANDI! YOUR PICTURE WITH ME IS ON THE WEBSITE!!" -- I froze. It's like alright, this guy remembers me from over a year ago!? So, I walked over to him and we talked for a while. He took more pics, signed the one I had, and then he invited my friend and I over to ride the go-karts with him. I looked at him kinda funny, and he goes "Oh, I'm serious. We have two hours to kill before the second show tonight, and Blake is coming too. Come on, ride with us." Ya know, I could have been a fangirl at that moment, but I wasn't. domokun So, we rode the go-karts, hung out for a while, and went back for the second show. When the show ended, Rob came out and got me again. This time, he, Blake, and the sound technician all had water guns. Rob somehow managed to squirt me in the eye, even though I wear glasses... it was WAY too funny. So, at the end of the night, I walked up to say goodbye and he grabbed my hand and kissed it. I don't remember much of that moment, but my friend that was with me claims my face was just as if I'd seen a ghost. I didn't know what the hell to say or do... haha -- but yeah, that was pretty awesome as well.

ALRIGHT, I'LL SHUT UP NOW! blaugh

0,o You win, Mizandi. Lucky...the most I've ever come to meeting a celebrity like that is when I ran into one in an airport. I haven't been to enough concerts to have gotten any backstage passes or anything either.

I wouldn't call this the best, but definitely a memorable one:

Sugarland (the band) played here in Sugar Land (the city) just a few hours ago. They've never actually been here until now (they named their band after it because that's where a friend of theirs lived). The concert took place on the steps of City Hall, with the mayor of Sugar Land and a crowd of several hundred attending. It was free and it was a beautiful day outside, so I decided to stop by and had one Hell of a time. They are awesome live performers and very nice folks.

Oh good, it wasn't just me sweatdrop I expect a little more from a concert than him just standing there like a bump on a log. Move a little, put some emotion into it, do something... xp

I just saw Big & Rich in concert last night. They put on one hell of a show, but for some reason, they didn't play Holy Water. They did play an unreleased song featuring Cowboy Troy, which was pretty cool.

And Big Kenny looks A LOT older in person than he does on TV.

Really? I thought he looked fairly old on TV so that would be odd. They didn't do Holy Water? That's the only song by them I enjoy! Anyway, it's weird for performers not to go a single in concert.

They shared the evening with Jeff Foxworthy, so they had to kind of rush things...but yeah, it is odd that they wouldn't play a single like Holy Water.

went to this chili cookoff competition in west palm beach, FL and it had a series of pretty good acts. it also rocked that i got to see 5 in one day.

the lineup included:
katrina elam
big & rich
montgomery gentry
keith urban
hank williams jr.

what a show... what a day! i had never been to a concert before that, and having all of them at one shot certainly blew me away!
