Through the branches of the trees above gray eyes could see that dusk had graced the land with its presence. The sky looked like a painting with colors ranging the spectrum. Oranges and pinks flowed through out the canvas, with a calming blue on the edges. With the darkness creeping ever closer, it made Isabliss want to sigh. Every night she would wait, wait for this forest to go quiet. Wait to view the stirring of animals on the forest floor, racing over branches that had toppled to the ground during the day. She waited to hear the “who whoo” of the owls with the largest eyes and the weirdest necks.
As the shadows grew across the bark of the trees a warm feeling of calmness settled in her stomach and blossomed each passing moment and with it came the feeling of being safe, protected, and adored in some strange way.
Knowing that when the darkness came, it arrived with a guest that brought sleep upon the world. But not for her, never for her. A sort of power that she possessed allowed her to walk while others slept, never feeling as tired as she really should. And she embraced it fully, reveling in the silence that came at nightfall when all the day creatures let themselves fall asleep while at the same time the dark animals roused from their daily slumber to roam the night. The night always called to her though, it always had and it always would. The moon beautiful face gazed down on the world, so far away. Isabliss’ heart ached to fly up to her, to be in the same atmosphere if only for a moment.
Her silver clouded wings trembled at the thought of the flight and she calmed her breathing, her body already anticipating the flight. Tonight though would be a night to roam. The forest was large and she wanted to try and get through it tonight to get to the lake that she knew lay beyond. It was times like these that she wished, only for a moment, that she had a companion of sorts, someone to talk to. Always fleeting though, and never in her mind but for a few seconds. Others found her strange, beautifully unusual. Her true friend, she knew, was the loving face that watched her from above. Again her wings gave a small tremor at her thoughts, but she fought the urge to just jump from the ground. Many times she had tried to visit the moon, but the quest proved unfruitful. Often times she would just stare at her pale face and dream. Perhaps she did need real friends.
A sigh escaped from her mouth, followed by a very unlady like snort. What use for friends did she have? They would only pester her, she knew they would. Slowly she let her gray eyes look above, desperately trying to see between the tree leaves that covered the sky from her view, and a battle waged war in he body. Maybe a friend is what she needed.

The faint glow of the orange to reddish hues started to dissipate in to the deep blackness as the fading orb of light’s last glimmer of horizon was etched away from the face of the earth. A gleam of a red eye peered, as the moon started to show its glimmer rising slowly like a pale ghost from her slumbering grave. The large black gave a rather smirking grin as the one broad wing stretched from his side scraping the ceiling of the cave. Even the pale light that cast a soft hue in the world outside was almost too much for the stallion to bear to earlier in the so called morning of his day though it was better than that demonic light of the sun. Making his way to the lip of the cave he peered out his nostrils flared looking for a sweet stench of soft flesh and blood to ease its way however most of the older creatures knew better than lurking in the trees. How long had it been since he had sunk his self into the depths of the cavern below? How long had he dared to venture away from this little spit of hell to slink across the land? Too long and now he had grown bored of his rather little confine of darkness lately he had been spreading his wing looking for something a little different to sink his teeth into. Rather it is something of living flesh to eat or something of a rather sweeter taste of lips.
A light laugh trickled across his throat as the familiar scent of a small creature seemed to waft near, a rabbit what treat that would be as a light snack starting a rather busy night of traveling. The small nib of a wing ached as the other broad wing stretched across the night sky. A small hiss escaped from this lips as the small nib of the once phantom limb hung started to ache from the fresh air sending him another poor memory of the past that he had tossed aside. Pitiful fools cursing him merely because of their sheer jealously of his once majestic looks that made even the heavenly beast fall under his charm. Their hatred towards him sunk with every blow they had sent across, cursing him with his now rotting body of open flesh. He loathed them letting his hatred keep his open-heart beating but even now hatred could only feed him for so long. However this was little to no interest of his anymore there were as they said bigger prey to hunt.
Making his way with simple grace and ease his nostril looking for the light delicate scent of the small creature he had detected before. It didn’t take long for the crunching sounds of bones to echo their way through the silent forest as blood seeped into the dry ground. Despite being delightful he was far from full his ears perked waiting for the next noise.

All encompassing darkness surrounded Isabliss, and she could feel the calmness spread throughout her body and sink into her soul, and she let her eyes adjust to the darkened surroundings. Her true friend she knew would always be the night, and the mother moon that shone above. Creeping through the forest, because that was truly what she was doing, silently proved to be somewhat of a challenge. Always graceful was she, but on this particular night it seemed every fallen branch had decided to block her path. This path that she traveled so often that it was stamped upon her very soul. Another crunch of a branch being stomped on by her hoof filled the once silent forest, and she frowned in dismay and blew her dark bangs from her face. She looked about with her silver eyes, always lidded as if she were about to fall into slumber, and could not see all too clearly. Glancing at the tree tops above, she could make out small slivers of pale light filtering down onto the forest floor. Not enough for the path to be visible, but it was enough for her. Normally she would enjoy this stroll through the forest she so loved in the quiet that she so enjoyed, but tonight it seemed that it was not meant to be. Once again, a branch cracking echoed through the forest and her frown became deeper and annoyance welled up. She spread her silver wings and flapped, causing a slight gust to go throughout the forest, making the bushes sway and the trees rustle. Tattered leaves and broken twigs scattered from the gust, and she let her from dissipate and form a semblance of a smile. With the light wind dying down, she tucked her wings to her back and continued on knowing no branches, twigs or dying leaves would block her path now.
Light rustles of small creatures running along the ground and across her trail filled her ears, and she heard their squeaking as if they were right next to her ears. They almost seemed as if they were in a hurry, running away from something. Strange, she thought while tilting her head to the right. They were running from something in this direction. A predator perhaps, an owl or a snake, but she was curious. She had never seen the nocturnal predators hunt all that often, and it always fascinated her about how quick they were about the kill. Killing was a means of survival, and it was necessary and therefore did not bother Isabliss to much. Moving from her trail in the opposite direction of the scurrying rodents, she began walking through the dense brush. Crunching sounds were coming from the general area ahead and she knew that a predator had caught their prey. Which predator? She would soon find out.

The small furry creature was nothing more than a mere snack that drizzled its way into the gluttonous belly of the beast, it lacked a fullfilling taste that would satifsy his everylasting thirst. Nevertheless he didn’t mind playing around the the forest creatures watching them scamper underfoot int the shrubs as the small branches whipped out their long fingers and pulled away their fur leaving a rahter unwanted bloody trail behind. This only made the hunt only ever so slightly boring however he never seemed to mind too much. That was until another unsettling scent seemed to ease its way into his nostrils something rather familiar but at the same foreign, like a stranger he was just starting to encounter.
It was a scent of a female, a four legged female to be exact, and if he wasn’t mistaken she bore a set a wings that neatly fitted around her body. Now this was rather a new delight he had yet to enounter in such a long time, the sweet smell of soquili blood, the warm embrace of a fluttering heart of a female, all of this was something he had left behind years ago. He wondered if he still had the rather soothing tune of his voice, the sweet licks of flattery that seemed to roll endlessly across his lips, yes of course he did. Such sugary words where never forgotten from such a stallion of his once statue and he was ever so cold. No nothing but a few words and movements could get any female to swoon for him however he would have to be careful. His looks were, as he could say rather frightful in appeanance. He gave a rather uneasy sigh has he could feel his open heart beat against his chest, bare and and worn like a necklace any creature would have turned away quickly. Not to mention the rather gleaming set of bones that let the light neatly reflect upon his leg, the muscles that stretched where the skin had rotted off, and the broken horn that still protruded from his forehead. He was rather a monstousity on his own, but this would not stop him.
Making his way silently around the trees his bloody eyes pinned looking for her movement, her scent filling his nostrils like a heavy scented meadow of flowers. It didn’t take long for him to find her standing there as the moon caught her wings with a rather shimmering glimmer, her hair bound in curls seemed to gracefully sweep the ground and her eyes looked with a slight worry, she was perfect angeni. A smils started to slither across his lips, a lovely angeni deserved to be escorted around at such a night especially with so many dangerous lurking things and no one was better than a lurking shadow himself.
Keeping his voice low he made his presences clear to the mare avoiding at any cost of startling her, “Hello there my lady, I don’t mean to startle you in anyway please forgive me if I am intruding upon your night.” He replied his voice low but wam as he gave her a small bow.

It had been eerily silent, the crunching of what she assumed to be bones had faded away leaving only silence. Isabliss treaded carefully, only her slightly deeper inhalations interrupting the air. She could hear her heart beat quicken as she soon came upon the carcass of a now dead rabbit, its innards splayed on the ground. She could see it all, the moons rays highlighting the gruesome sight before her. Silver eyes widened before looking away. Some things she could stomach, and this was one that she wasn’t sure she was able to.
She glanced back to the revolting sight of the once alive rabbit before darting her eyes to the trees surrounding her. No little creatures were around; having all run away from the predator that had viciously torn apart the small creature at her hooves, and her breathing became more labored. What if the hunter was still here, waiting for more unsuspecting prey? Is couldn’t fend off a mountain lion, especially a bear. Blowing her bangs from silver eyes she looked at the trees before her and the many trees behind those trees until they became so strained that she sighed and slid them closed just before letting out a small laugh at her paranoia. The hunter is probably gone, off chasing some other little forest dweller.
Without glancing again at the ground she began to go around the scene, desperately keeping her eyes ahead so as not to see the fur and blood that would be engraved into her memory. Just one of the many sights that showed survival of the fittest is all that matters in this world.
She did not expect, however, to hear a smooth inquiry from only a few hoof beats away. It startled her so badly that she yelped and took a few clumsy steps away from where the voice had originated. Her heart beat was thundering, and it was pounding in her ears, and she put her ears down as her eyes flitted around the area looking for the thing that housed such a warm and silky voice. “Where are you?” She questioned, still trying to locate the owner of the voice.
(I am sooooo sorry! I truly did not mean to take this long on the reply!)
