i am now working my way through fruits basket; i am in chapter 73.

Tohru Honda is an appealing character, flawed but sweet and inwardly strong.

the variety of all the zodiac members makes a fascinating mix.

Akito scares me.

It's not really sad, it's just that the characters spill alot of marbles and heavy baggage towards the end and it gets a bit emotional. I liked the manga very much actually, I was mainly drawn to it because of Kyo but then I started to see that all of the characters were very unique and interesting and had something to offer.

I agree with iHime, it's not really sad, just very emotionally touching. I like the manga much better than the anime, mostly because the anime leaves a lot of things out, and is highly simplified compared to the manga. Not that it's more complex to understand, the manga just dive deeper into things and gives you a higher understanding about each of the characters and the truth about what happens behind the scenes, so to speak. You also get to know everyone on a much more personal basis, you really get to know them, whereas in the anime you usually just get the feeling that they are merely people on the screen. When you turn it off it's over, the end, nothing more.

Well, that's how I see it anyway smile

That said, I do like the anime, the manga is just better ^^
