it sounds like someting you've made up from misconceptions you've seen on tv to me. I'll break it down into something maybe you'll find helpful though.

First of all a pentagram has 5 points (penta means 5). An 8 point star is known as the redeption star in christianity. I off the top of my head don't know any significance in any other religeons. I've read roughly that in the video gaming world and that some demon worshippers say the 8 point star symbolises the many directions of chaos.

In the blood of an animal, well whenever you think of blood in rituals you assume it's negative although I've also heard that offering your own blood is putting your own essence into the ritual to make it stronger so it's not necessarily a bad thing, of course I'd never mess with blood rituals myself ever unless I was with someone who knew what they were doing.

Using black candles is supposed to dispell negativity and typically it has nothing to do with directions. If you were to put a green candle at north a yellow at east a red at south and a blue at west that would make more sence but this just sounds like a way to keep bad things out.

Red candles tend to symbolise love and sex.

cutting your hand and putting blood into the center really makes no sece to me I don't know blood rituals very well.

Chanting obviously would mean to make whatever you were doing start happening.

Like I said that doesn't sound like any rituals I know of but it does tend to sound like alot of wannabe demon worshippers who don't know their research kind of things. But it could be something that I've never heard of, I'm no expert right.

remember again a pentagram has 5 points. Salt is also another thing for protection. If you put the coloured candles in said directios it stands for the 4 elements and their locations. and if you end that spell with "as it is said so mote it be" it could work, for what I'm not sure but it sounds like a legit spell to me(kind of).

it's very true, television has only made more misconceptions about witches. There are still a very large group of people who think that we're evil demon worshippers. But I have to admit to an extent the television misconceptions can get quite amusing. I love when there are shows that have them drawing a pentagram with salt surrounded by black candles and try to summon a demon. First of all salt and the pentagram are protective symbols and black candles ward off negative energy, tell me how you are going to summon a demon with so many positive and anti-negative charms.
