After the discovery of dwarf planet Sedna in a highly elliptical orbit with an orbital period of 12,000 years the Nemesis theory became more plausible.

In fact there is no way that Sedna could end up in such an orbit without the gravitational influence of another star. This would imply that the Sun has a companion star, a small red dwarf perhaps; too small to be detected by current telescopes.

If it's there, WISE should detect it.

Yeah! me too! biggrin

Imagine if that small companion star had an Earth-sized planet close enough for liquid water to exist on its surface! Wouldn't it be nice? razz

I'm kinda new to this. I have the basics of astronomy down, but I'm a bit confused as to what Sedna and Nemesis theory is...

cosmobc: I know I dont know what I'd do if they found that out I'd most likey have a party not too many of my friends know astronomy like I do but if I say grill and beer their up for it XD

time end: Sedna is a trans neptunian dwarf planet which means its orbit brings it closer to the sun than Neptune but its orbit is so elliptical that it cant be influenced by the sun's gravity it has to be orbiting another star and most likely it’s a brown dwarf star this star called Nemesis though we don’t have any absolute proof it exists.
yet.
