The Enemies [The first realization you have upon entering the underground caverns is that it is very warm - like you would expect an incubator to be. Unusual for underground. There is dark purple, almost black, sand everywhere, and it is soft and gentle to the touch; comfortably warm. Sunlight is streaming from small holes in the ceiling, but that's only at the entrance, where the pool of spring water is.
Once past the entrance, however, the place is pitch black save for the iridescent, glow-in-the-dark crystals in the ceiling and mushrooms on the floors and walls, throwing everything into a gentle blue glow. It's even warmer past the entrance, and upon reaching the chambers you see another human there, whom you assume is Amon. By his mere appearance, you can't tell what sort of powers he possesses - assuming he is a dragon. He is standing in the center of a crowd of glowing green eggs, all the size of a medium-sized dog, and you can feel the presence inside them moving and shifting inside the shells. They are going to hatch very soon from where they're nestled half-way in the warm, black sand. Upon entering, Fafnir walks up to Amon, and they exchange a few soft words before he turns to you and they both walk up to stand in front of the first line of eggs, facing you and the others. You wonder if the Ice Dragon is uncomfortable in such a warm environment, and figures that's why another is tagging along to help.] Fafnir Icespeare: So, here we are. The Shell Caverns - AKA the Nursery of these Lesser Dragons. Be smart and don't touch anything. [He motions behind him to the eggs.] As you can see, we are protecting very fragile cargo. They are only a few hours from hatching, and in that time, they are the most delicate, as their shells are the brittlest by this time. At this point, sadly, they are the ripest for predators, and there are some nasty things down here that would love to have egg for breakfast. We are in charge of making sure that doesn't happen, understand? Let's inform you of what you're going to be facing. Amon will be in charge of explaining. [Amon jerks his head a little - as if he were tossing hair over his shoulder - and adjusts his hood, taking a step forward and sticking his hands in his pockets. He is aloof as well, you notice, but in a more arrogant way. Despite that, he has a very soft face, and you wonder if such a face could really harbor such a thing as arrogance. When he speaks, it is sharp and down to the point, and makes you slightly less doubtful about your initial judgment.]Enemy One: Beezlebulb, or the Behemoth Beetle Amon Zeidematai: This things are about the size of the average man - bigger than some things but smaller than most. Nevertheless, they are indeed a pain, and they post a massive threat to any egg of any species. They are attracted to things of light, which makes the eggs an ideal target around this time. They need to be dealt with quickly and efficiently. Beezlebulb Stats Strength: Armor, Agility Weakness: Their sensitive underbellies Habits: These have no qualms with appearing by the hundreds, and their jaws can easily crush bone. Any Special Traits?: They are bio-luminescent, meaning they create their own light, and they're a lot faster than they look. Indeed, they have three pairs of legs. Enemy Two: Udah Amon: So these nasty creatures are the most destructive. They're also freakishly large, like the size of a pretty big Gryphon. Their spikes are also poisonous, so don't be stupid and get too close. Udah Stats Strength: Armor, Strength Weakness: Brittle limbs, but with only one point of weakness Habits: They are very territorial, and thus only appear a few at a time. Any Special Traits?: They are fantastic diggers, and rely on senses other than sight. Fafnir: Now that you've been informed, we have three hours to keep these eggs safe. Let's make sure none break, okay? Quest: Shell Barricade - START

Natsu Dragneel, Flame Dragon Walk straight for a final solution
Walk straight don't you be so cold,
Walk straight with a clear resolution
I'll state my case and never turn
After making his way to the location he had been told earlier, Natsu listened to the two speeches by Fafnir and Amon, then took a deep breath.
"YEAH!!!" He cried as he threw his hands up in the air. "I'll take on anyone who wants a go!"
Happy of course facepalmed and shook his head. "We are supposed to try to not get the attention of the enemy..." He already knew Natsu wouldn't listen, but he wanted to make a good impression...and maybe get paid in fish.
Natsu turned to Amon and got up really close to him, sniffing him a couple times before glaring intently into his eyes. "What kinda dragon are you? I can tell you're a dragon from your scent...but I don't know what kind"
He finally quit looking into Amon's eyes and looked over at Fafnir. "You're Fafnir right? You wouldn't happen to know any Flame dragons would you? I'm looking for a certain one and want to find her as soon as possible."

It was only the scent of a dragon's flame on the boy's breath that kept the Dark Dragon from lashing out and lopping the redhead's head off; he had to clench his fist from doing just that.
He is an ally, Amon. An ally. Calm down.
When Natsu turned to Fafnir, Amon prayed the Ice Dragon wouldn't answer.
But when he began to speak, Amon's scowl darkened even more in disgust. What was Fafnir doing HUMORING this boy?
"Of course I do," Fafnir replied monotonously, but with an icy, dangerous undertone as he gave Natsu an even stare, warning the boy to watch himself. "But if you honestly think I'm going to relinquish that information just like that, then you are surely the biggest imbecile in this cavern." Then he looked away, ultimately dismissing Natsu. The heat made him rather irritable, Amon noticed, smirking in satisfaction as Fafnir continued. "Refrain from speaking to me unless absolutely necessary. Thank you."
Amon, snickering to himself, brushed almost harshly past Natsu to step close to Fafnir, speaking in low voices in what was apparently a different language. Sounded like a dragonic dialect, but it was different from the Flame Dragon accent. Either they learned each other's, only one, a different one entirely, or they made up a whole new dialect.
Either way, no one else in the room would be able to understand them.In a FIGHT that's ŊĘVĒŔ-ĖŊĐĮŊĢ, go on. Don’t you dare think I’m weak, or a child, or helpless Just because of what you see. If you do… Soft footsteps - and the sound of rhythmic clicking, as though of claws - interrupted the presumably awkward moment. There was a brief pause, as though the walker were uncertain of where they were going, and then a young woman appeared, removing a long, lacy veil as she came in. Behind her walked what might have been mistaken for a horse...if one were half-blind. Claws, fangs, the eyes, the horn all spoke of killer unicorn, and marked the young woman in question as a Beast Keeper. And yet the animal was strange even for its own kind - it had long, semitransparent black wings currently folded politely against its back. Alaiza ran an absently affectionate hand over Kri'zarh's neck as she stood in the room, examining the eggs. She'd been positive she'd get lost - her sense of direction in caves was most certainly not stellar - but she had trusted Zar to get her to where she needed to go, and he had come through again. She had her whip coiled by her side, where it would remain until she actually needed it. At the moment, she had another concern that she ought to voice before she forgot it. "Hope you don't mind him," she said to the guides absently, nodding at Zar. "I can send him outside to wait if you'd rather." It was spoken without sounding at all grudging - she thought it would be a fair complaint if they wanted her to leave him outside. She'd brought him along because, well, Zar was practically an army in himself. But the guides might not want him there - she knew he was dextrous enough to avoid stepping on the eggs, but they didn't. The animal snorted softly, his ears twitching as he took in the surroundings. …I’ll ensure it’s the last mistake you ever make. I’ve seen her type before That girl is so dangerous That girl is so dangerous That girl is a bad girl… Alaiza Mirai Onyx Beast Keeper

Natsu pouted slightly at Fafnir and Amon's obvious disapproval of him, but quickly changed his tune when he noticed the beastkeeper approaching.
He had never really had a chance to look closely at any of the creatures, and hopefully it wouldn't be the last.
"Could I pet him?" Natsu asked, as though speaking of a cute little puppy or something of that sort, though obviously it was neither cute nor fluffy (ok maybe cute but not fluffy), nor little, but nonetheless Natsu asked.

At the question, Fafnir thought about it for merely second or two before speaking.
"From experience, I do believe not even a Killer Unicorn would be very effective in this sort of environment," he replied. Especially one with what looks like wings. "Seeing as how you're obviously a Onyx Beast Keeper, I assume you have other weapons at your disposal-"
You'd be an idiot not to. Amon thought darkly.
"-so it would indeed be much appreciated if he indeed wait outside. Thank you."
Amon rolled his eyes, wondering why Fafnir was even bothering to be so hospitable.
Well, the reason's simple. He thought dryly. The Lesser Dragons hired help, and they are help. He snorted softly to himself. Stupid. Just stupid. In a FIGHT that's ŊĘVĒŔ-ĖŊĐĮŊĢ, go on. Don’t you dare think I’m weak, or a child, or helpless Just because of what you see. If you do… Alaiza gave the redhead a mild stare when he spoke up, and shook her head the slightest bit. Zar didn't appreciate being petted. He tended to bite those who tried, and when he bit, people lost body parts. She turned her attention back to Fafnir as soon as he spoke again. Although she seemed to get the dragon's reasoning, Zar didn't appear to - the unicorn's ears had gone flat against his skull, and he was eyeing the two of them as though wondering if he could sneak close enough to n**. He shook his head angrily, shifted forward, but then sidled away when Alaiza turned to lift a brow at him. "You heard him, Zar. Go on, go back outside. I'll let you know when I want you." She spoke with complete certainty that the animal would understand her. Lightly, she tapped Zar's shoulder - just with a fingertip, but it was enough to make him drop his head obediently and for his ears to come up again. "Go on. Out. I'll see you later." Probably for the best, she decided as the animal snorted once more before stepping back out. Claws clicked away, and Alaiza stopped listening. Zar would be fine from there. Would have taken weeks to get his brain pointed back in the right direction if they decided to let him play. …I’ll ensure it’s the last mistake you ever make. There's a place for us Mae Lawings Somewhere The Dragons and the Priests had always had very good relations. It was something ancient, and went back further than the written records kept by the Church. It was impressive, in a way, since written records had been found documenting the founding of the very first Church building. Of course, Priests had been around long before churches had been. Back then, they had been traveling healers. It was probably along some travel that they had met the Dragons and done something or another that helped to gain their trust and support. Now, anytime the Priests had trouble, like with Stone Headhunters, the Dragons would always send someone to help out. The same could be said for the Dragons needing help. A Priest could always be found volunteering to lend a hand.
Like Mae right now. She'd heard about some Lesser Dragon eggs needing guarding, and she had immediatly signed up. She remembered how some Dragons had helped out her Church back when a fire had caught onto the belltower, and she had always wanted to try and help them out to return the favor. It was only right. So she'd made her way down to the Shell Caverns. It was sort of twisty in there, but finding the eggs hadn't been hard. She'd been given directions, after all. Still, Mae couldn't help but feel relieved when she realized that she had, indeed, made it to the right place. She wasn't fond of the idea of wandering around and getting eaten by some strange monster, unable to protect herself.
"Hello. My name is Mae Lawings, and I hope to be of help," she greeted politely as she looked around the room. It seemed like two others had shown up already, one who was in the middle of sending her Killer Unicorn out of the room. Oh my, she certainly hoped that this Onyx Beat Keeper was more civil than the one from the last quest. She'd just been plain rude, and Mae had almost been tempted to make her say 'please' a hundred time before healing her. Almost. Mae wasn't the petty sort.
She was ready for this quest. She'd rested up so that her health and magic levels were at their height, and she'd been careful to stock up fully on potions and necessary items. Additionally, she now had a staff. A wonderful, beautiful, holy-magic-infused staff. It wasn't meant for offensive purposes (she doubted that it could do more than bash an annoying person upside the head) but to make her range greater. Healing from a distance wouldn't be a problem now.
Hearing about the monsters made her nervous, but only a little. She sure wouldn't be fighting them after all. She'd leave that to the others. Her job was to make sure that their injuries weren't great and, possibly, to heal them from poison. Somebody was going to be reckless enough to get stabbed by one of those points, she was sure, and she'd hate to see them in pain fron the toxins.A place for us

Even one so chilled as an Ice Dragon knew to treat the Human Priests with respect. They had been allies with the Dragons even before some of the Elders' time, and Fafnir - from somewhere in the chilled bowels of his soul - managed a smile.
"It is a pleasure to have you here, Priest Lawings," he replied with a bow of his head. Amon, scowling, looked away and crossed his arms. Unlike his counterpart, Amon detested the Priests and their inability to fight. A good fighter, he reasoned, had no reason to be healed because nothing could touch or affect him or her. Fafnir continued, shooting Amon a stern, disapproving glance before looking back to Mae. "Thank you for assisting us."
Fafnir sent a chill down Amon's spine, and the Dark Dragon shivered where he stood before shooting Fafnir a glare and reluctantly nodding to Mae.
"Yeah, thanks," he replied gruffly before looking away, his scowl evident. Fafnir rolled his eyes.In a FIGHT that's ŊĘVĒŔ-ĖŊĐĮŊĢ, go on. There's a place for us Mae Lawings Somewhere ((I vote that Amon gets hurt at some point! Just for mild ego-kicking purposes. -evil-))
So it seemed that Mae would be interacting with two very different guides on this quest. Fafnir seemed quite like most Dragons in the sense that he treated her with the respect that was customary between the two groups. He'd even smiled at her which, judging from the lines on his face, was not something he was used to doing. How sad. Mae couldn't imagine going very long without smiling, but she supposed that she was naive in that respect, along with others. Amon sure seemed to think so. He gave her a look that she had recognized before. One that seemed to scream that he didn't need her or anyone else in the world who couldn't match him in fighting skills. Mae didn't very much care. A lot of people thought of her like that. She didn't kill. Her job was for the opposite, and it often went unappreciated by those who devoted their lives to taking away the lives of others. Ah well, Mae liked to think that they would understand in time. The importance of helping and living was usually something that wasn't comprehended until it was gone. Maybe Amon would be the same way. All the same, despite his forced thank you and attitude, and despite that he had his head turned away, she smiled brightly at him and Fafnir. Oh, and Mae's smile was a weapon all on its own.
Mae's smile was powerful. It was close to having it's own shiny, fluffly sound effect. Upon looking at it on her face, the picture of innocence shining through, one was almost forced to think of small children and baby animals. Even for the cruelest of people of normally hated those things, it was disarming. "I'm happy to be of help. Please just tell me where you would like me to be during battle. Range shouldn't be an issue with this staff."

Don’t you dare think I’m weak, or a child, or helpless Just because of what you see. If you do… ((OOC: Can I second that? Just for the lulz? Please?)) Alaiza happened to notice Mae's quick glance. Her lips twitched ever so slightly - she had seen that look before. Looked like the Priest had run across another of her kin before, and was wondering if Alaiza would be the same. Well, she supposed it was fair enough. Some of her people could be...quite nasty. Alaiza, however, was not quite that bad. ...Actually, some might say she was worse. Alaiza could be polite when she needed to be, but unless she really meant it, it tended to be that kind of politeness that edged towards frigid, and was so close to rude that it made people want to hurt her. Normally, however, they couldn't, because technically there was no reason for it. She found that an amusing side effect. For now, though, she had no grudge against this Priest. So she allowed herself the slightest smile before tilting her head to listen. Yes, the sound of claws had faded. Hopefully Zar had actually obeyed her this time, and wasn't just hiding outside the doorway waiting until he thought she wouldn't notice to come back in - he'd done that before. Alaiza had made sure he knew that was unacceptable, but sometimes he could be a slow learner. Shaking her head slightly at the thought of her willful little idiot, she unhooked the whip that was still hanging at her belt. She probably ought to have it out - she didn't know how much noise these things made on their way here. Holding it idly, she scanned the room. Was this it for volunteers? Sad. Just sad. …I’ll ensure it’s the last mistake you ever make. I’ve seen her type before That girl is so dangerous That girl is so dangerous That girl is a bad girl… Alaiza Mirai Onyx Beast Keeper

"NOOOO!!!!!" Natsu cried, dramatizing, or more correctly overdramatizing his feelings.
There were so many people that he was beginning to think he would get to fight anyone at all.
He quickly looked around at the group then back at Mae, realizing that she was a Priest, not a fighter.
His face lit up like it was Christmas morning and he jumped up and pumped his fist, almost landing on Happy on his way down.
Natsu hated being unable to fight, it was like someone called him to fight every chance he got, and he would never back down from a fight.
After nearly becoming a pancake thanks to Natsu, Happy decided to be polite and greet Mae.
"Hello, my name is Happy." He stated, raising his paw to signify he wanted a handshake.
