"How did I end up getting to this point? Getting captured and forced to join this group of weirdos... They call themselves "Team Darkness". They're a Pokémon Terrorist group much like Team Rocket and Team Galactic before them but much worse. Their gimmick is to capture the strongest of Pokémon Trainers and offer them a full time job collecting badges and destroying the Gym Leaders. Once they achieve that, I'm sure their aiming to take on the Elite Four and eventually the Champions of each region. What makes them difference than regular trainers? They'll use this position of power to gain trust among Pokémon companies to fund their research, to do who knows what. Their offer is very tempting...and I wouldn't have to worry about money for the rest of my life but...to hurt other people willingly? I'm not sure if I'm up for that... I'm known as a lot of different names from different people, but the title I'm liking the most is... "The Music Swashbuckler", "Music" for short. This is my story..."

A young boy around the age of eight is seen running out of his house. He runs to his friends to watch them have their daily Pokémon battle. He loved watching them battle, but he was never allowed to have Pokémon of his own. His parents were divorced because of Pokémon. His father left to become a Pokémon trainer because he loved the battles. His mother argued with him to settle down and to have a steady job to support his family. From this, they were divorced and had very little money. Music caught up with the others and just watched the finishing blow. A Geodude using Magnitude on a Metapod caught up with hardening it's defenses.

"Awwwww! I missed the battle..." Music said with a saddened voice. One of the other children handed him an empty Pokéball and said "Why don't you try catching something yourself? You always complain about not being a part of the battles!" Music frowned and took the Pokéball. I'm not really suppose to...my Mom said that I'm not suppost to have 'em..." The oldest boy crossed his arms and looked at Music. "Quit being such a momma's boy and go catch one! You DO know how...don't you?" Music nodded and went to the waist deep tall grass. He stood there holding the Pokéball nervously, using his eyes to scan the area. The other kids left him and circled a small Pokémon. "What a girlie looking thing...a pink water snake!" the other kids started to tease it with a stick, using their Pokémon to dump mud on top of it.

"STOOOOOOP!" Music shouted as he ran over to the Pokémon who was covered in dirt at this time. "This will be my first Pokémon!" The another kid looked over at him. "Umm... you sure you really want this thing? It looks so pathetic and funny, we've been dumping mud on him to cover what what a disgrace it must be!" Music smirked and tossed the Pokéball at it. As the ball activated, he smirked and looked at the group. "You're suppose to weaken them before capturing them, right? Thanks for helping me!" A loud clicking noise came from the Pokéball as he turned around and ran his thumb across the top of his nose. "Heh... too easy!"

After he realized what he had done, he stood there and froze. He was so caught up in the moment about getting his first Pokémon that he forgot as to what his mother would say. The sun began to set as the other boys went back to their houses. Music tossed the Pokéball near the water. He then spoke to it and smiled. "Hey there little guy...sorry for what my friends did to you. Let me clean you up..." he splashed water on top of the snake. It shook off all the mud to reveal a pink Dratini, who jumped up on Music and began to cuddle with it. Music fell backwards, surprised at capturing a pink Pokémon. He thought to himself. "Aww crap...if I had known it was pink I would of never had gotten it..." He then smiled and began to pet it. "But your a cute little guy, and with my help, you're going to grow up really strong!" The Dratini licked his nose and let out a cute squeal. "OK! Return Dratini!" he said as he pushed the button on the Pokéball, returning the Pokémon. He smiled as it returned to his hand. He double tapped the Pokéball to shrink down to it's smaller form, and hides it in his pocket. He turns and walks back to his house with his hands in his pockets, trying to hide his very first Pokémon. "What will Mom think if she finds out?" he says to himself over and over in his mind, going back inside his house.

Walking into the house with his head hung low, Music hid the Pokéball deep within his pocket. His mother heard the door close and spoke to him from the kitchen. "Hey honey, it's pretty late. Where have you been?" Music scratched the back of his head and sat down at the table. "Oh you know...the usual." he replied. He looked up at his Mom carrying a plate with a steak, mashed potatoes, green beans, and fried rice all evenly separated. His eyes widened as it was put in front of him. Using his fork and knife like two shovels, he began to scarf the meal down.

After quickly devouring the meal, Music quickly excused himself from the table and ran upstairs to his room. His mother followed him to the bottom of the stairs shouting after him. "Hey, make sure you do all your homework. I'm checking on it!" Homework was one thing Music excelled at. Unlike other kids, he wasn't distracted with Pokémon after school. While his friends were off on their "catching sprees" he stayed in his room and studied all day. Piles of books littered his room. He ran to the closet and swung open the door. In a private stack of its own was a complete guide on every Pokémon. He flipped through the pages, scanning to find out more about his first Pokémon. He sat on the ground with the book in his lap, with his head tilt to the side in confusion after looking at the picture of a Dratini. "Huh? If they're blue...how come mine happens to be pink?"

Hours passed as he continued to read more and more about Dratini. What it evolves to, and what moves it could obtain. He was pleased to learn that it was a rare Pokémon only found in certain locations. Of course, since his own hometown was a small one, there was no listing in any of the books he borrowed. "Hokori Village" stood on the outskirts of the border between the Johto and Kanto region. He rubbed his hand along the back of his neck as he turned and looked at the desk across from his bed. He walked over to it and sat down, beginning his homework. More time passes as he finishes the last of it with a yawn. Music put away all of his Pokémon information along with the Pokéball back in the closet and went to bed shortly after.

Weeks passed since his first encounter with Dratini. His routine involved going to school, finishing all of his work at home, and then training his Pokémon in the outskirts of town. He became very attached to his Pokémon, and kept it hidden very well from his mother until one fateful day he would never forget.

His eyes opened up to the morning sun. In three days he would be thirteen years old. This was the average age of beginning Pokémon trainers to set out on their journey. As he lay in bed, he tossed around the idea of telling his mother about his Pokémon. He felt bad keeping this a secret from her but he knew it was all for a good reason. He didn't want to upset her, reminding her of his father leaving. After waking up a little more, he stepped out of bed. His feet hit the cold wooden floor as he staggered to the bathroom. After showering and getting dressed, Music grabbed his things and went downstairs. He ate breakfast with his mother and then went to school. Other than Study period where he thought of different strategies to use, his school day went about as normal.

As the bell rang for school to be over, everyone gathered their things and ran out of the building. Music had quickly done the same and went over to his group of friends. "Hey there!" he shouted to the others. The others looked over at him surprised, and focused their attention on the Pokéball he was carrying. "Shin! I challenge you to a battle!" The oldest boy stepped forward. He wore navy blue jeans, a dark red shirt, and a matching baseball cap that covered his blue eyes. "You got a death wish or something?" he called back to Music. But the comment didn't faze him. He smirked and took a solid stand, waiting for his opponent to move. The other boys cleared a space for the two of them to battle, watching from the sidelines.

The two threw their Pokéballs forward, releasing their first Pokémon to battle...

On the battlefield, Dratini pops out of the Pokéball and lets out a squeal, anxious to battle. On the other, a Krabby is seen clicking it's claws together. Music points and shouts to his Pokémon. "Dratini use Twister!" A small whirlwind surrounds the opposing Krabby, sharp rocks and gusts of wind crash against it's tough skin. The Krabby crosses it's arms and tries to protect itself from the twister, but it continues to get damaged. Shin yells to Krabby a command. "Krabby, counterattack with Vicegrip!" As the twister dies down, Krabby rushes over to Dratini and chokes it with one of it's crab claws. "Dratini! Now's your chance to trap him by using wrap!" Dratini quickly uses it's tail to wrap around Krabby's body and gives it a tight squeeze. Krabby loosens it's grip around Dratini's neck and gets tied in his opponent's attack. "Dratini, finish it off with a Dragon Rage!" Dratini opens it's mouth and spews out a wave of blue fire, scorching Krabby. Krabby falls forward defeated, as the battle comes to a close. Shin returns his Pokémon while Music runs over to Dratini excited. Both of them hug as he looks over to the crowd surrounding Shin.

"I can't believe you lost man, especially to Music!" "Yeah, I thought nobody could ever get out of that Vicegrip..." Shin kicks up dust and looks over at Music. "Hey newbie! It was just a fluke...don't get too excited. When we meet again, I WILL win!" Dratini cuddles around Music's shoulders as he cross his arms and smiles. "Sure thing! I'd love to see you try." Shin and his group of friends walk away while Music digs though his bag. "Hold on buddy, I got something for you." Music pulls out a spray bottle and uses it on Dratini's throat. The wound that was once there recovers quickly and gives Dratini a nice calm feeling. He responds to the treatment with a happy noise. Music smiles and uses the Pokéball to return his Pokémon and begins his way home.

Upon his return, he is greeted by his mother with crossed arms and a stern look on her face. He looks up at this and realizes the worst. "Hi Mom..." he says in a low tone. His mother looks down on him, tapping her finger against her arm waiting for an explanation. Music knew that bluffing at this point wasn't even an option. "So...are you mad at me?" he asks in a scared, shaken voice. His mother replies to him. "Music...I TOLD you not to battle other people with Pokémon! Nothing good can come from that kinda childish behavior! Honestly, I don't know why it's such a crazed sport..." she says shaking her head. Music clenches his fists in anger and shakes them. "But...but Mom! What if I was the best and beaten everyone else? Wouldn't the fame draw some kind of attention? To earn money from other trainers and gym leaders alike? We could have..." before he could finish his sentence his mother snaps at him. "Oh yeah?! Like what your father decide to do? Leave me all alone to raise you, chasing after a fantasy dream that can never come true?" Music's heart pounds, both out of anger and fear. He quickly runs up to his room, trying to hold back from crying. He lays down on his bed as the tears spill out from his eyes. They fall down his cheeks and soak up in his bedsheets. Music picks himself up and wipes his eyes, sniffling. "Tonight is the night I make my escape from this place..." he tells himself in a low voice.
