Lorelei Carson Driscoll My favorite pen ink is #387C44.
Career :: Rock Singer
Birthday :: May 31, 1990. She's a 19-year-old Gemini.
Height:: 5'9" Weight:: 149, slight hourglass and slightly larger than the usual woman overall. Ethnicity :: Lorelei is Irish (despite her German given name), but born in America and has little accent as a result. Eye Color :: Her eyes are a deep pine green, but Lorelei often wears brown shadow and plum or brown liner when she wants to make a good first impression. Hair Style/Color :: Lorelei's hair is currently a bright auburn mess. Its many waves and flipped-out texture make it hard to manage her slightly grown-out bob, including her bangs, which are close to reaching her nose. Being a precious item to Lorelei, her older sister Stefanie's moon hair-clip is almost always worn to keep the bangs out of the left side of her face.
Attire :: The girl's clothing usually comes from places much like, and sometimes including, Hot Topic. However, she sometimes modifies or draws on clothing that she thinks could use a bigger dash of unique. Lorelei is also not afraid to admit to being a gamer girl, so there are times that game-related insignia is worn. Surprisingly, bright colors are the order of the day most of the time, especially when mixed with black. Both of Lorelei's ears have a cartilage and lobe piercing apiece; the cartilage earrings are both silver studs, and the lobe piercings do not match: the right ear has a gold lock-based charm, and the left ear a gold key-based charm. Accessories and jewelry are Lorelei's favorite aspect of dressing, so there's always at least a few; her favorite non-earring accessories are mystical-looking pendant necklaces.
Personality :: Nineteen-year-old Lorelei's creativity knows only a few bounds - she wants to learn how to song-write and has some problems with that aspect. However, despite the way she dresses, Lorelei is a shy, easily embarrassed recluse; the few friends she has (and tends to keep loyally) are the ones who implanted the idea in her head to head out to the Walk of Fame Audition after witnessing a really nicely executed (and unexpected) vocal performance while playing those band-based music games. Her head sometimes flies to the clouds as well; how many female rockers do we know that are not pop-based? It was always a dream to sing songs like the ones famous rock groups made; an even bigger dream was to be immortalized through her voice being in a video game theme song. The above, however, is a medicated Lorelei. She takes low doses of antidepressant medicine twice a day to keep her emotions at bay; it used to be much worse, but you'll notice that Lorelei minus her medicine for over a day is a very weepy girl that throws pity parties. This is part of the reason she is reclusive; how many people want to be friends with someone depressed enough that they need medical help with it?
History :: Nineteen-year-old Lorelei was a middle child, born to Mr. and Mrs. Driscoll in a boring town with one older sibling: Stefanie (Rigel, her younger brother, was not to come until after she left for college). The boring town had a life most trudged through, and the hospital was pretty basic for what the Driscolls would need for then-11-year-old Stefanie - cancer was setting in for her, and the local hospital was ill-equipped. The Driscolls had to live with family members when the older ones learned that Stefanie was not going to live for much more than a few weeks.
Then-five-year-old Lorelei had met with Stefanie for the last time, although Lorelei was too young to understand what her older sister meant: giving her younger sister the crescent moon hair-clip she always worn until she 'shaved her head,' Stefanie told Lorelei that someday, even though she could not live with her younger sister then, she would come and always stay with her so long as she still possessed the hair-clip. What the elder child meant was, in more direct terms before being sugarcoated to one who wouldn't understand, "I'm going to die, and this is my most prized possession; please keep it and always remember me." Eventually, Stefanie passed on; Lorelei did not attend the funeral due to her age, but when she was six, and the family visited her sister's gravestone together, she knew what happened. The girl closed up to anyone but her parents for many years; school became a hassle and then the difficulty spread to life in general.
At twelve years old, when Lorelei was still in 'hiding,' her psychologist told her that running away would not ease the pain, and suggested that she use art or writing to express her feelings (while taking medication, of course). Like a moth to a flame, Lorelei took to drawing as she listened to music, quietly humming along, eventually singing along. The music that, when combined with memories, can stir up emotions and inspire people... Lorelei wanted to be that person, the one who did such. It withdrew itself, though, since she was told about the difficulty of getting into show business, and Lorelei kept up with life, gradually becoming more cheerful and needing less medicine to stay that way, eventually ending counseling sessions. Six years later, Lorelei graduated high school. From a job she decided to get before graduation, she bought herself the game 'Rock Band,' including the controllers. While at college as an undeclared major, Lorelei lived in an off-campus two-bedroom apartment: there were four people including herself there. In a session of Rock Band, with Lorelei on vocals, the other players were shocked enough to have lost their focus on their controllers (except for the drummer, who was a music major). After that, the guitar and bass players had said that she should go for a music major like their roommate. A few days later, the drummer had taken an audition ad off the bulletin board for 'Walk of Fame Talent Agencies,' showing it to Lorelei and suggesting that she should try to use that larynx of hers for more than game bragging rights. Guitar and bass agreed, and Lorelei (accompanied by the drummer) was going on to audition.

The AuditionTryouts "Hey, Lore?" "Y-yeah?" A nervous and literally shaken squiggle face was drawn on a complimentary Wendy's napkin; the buttery yellow color and embossed logo made the origin obvious. Of course, riding in a moving motor vehicle while drawing is not the recipe for a masterpiece, no matter the artist's skill level. "The audition place was on DeWale Avenue, right?" The voice he held was that of a trained voice, but today, it sounded a bit like he knew something, and not in a good way. In a defeated sigh, she replied "Yes, Drummer Boy, you asked over 5 tiiiii-" Lorelei should have paid more attention to the road, even as a passenger: there was no reason to take a right turn at this light, was there? "What the hell?!"
"Pay more attention to the road than your inked-up napkin, Lore, we missed the turn." Despite the deathly serious voice given at first, he then gave a stifled laugh as he put on another right blinker at a red light. "You don't really take them for depression, do you?" Hopefully his apartment-mate was able to take such a joke. "Mind your own neck, Drummer." Lorelei was able to show some sarcasm when she responded, which was much better than crying her head off when someone questioned why she took two small pills when she awoke and before she slept. Across the block at Lorelei's right, there was a bank branch at the light with a clock tower. The flier read that people wishing to audition were to show up by 1 PM, and it was 11:42 AM as they rook that right turn on a green light. They had one more road to take before they went to... "What the hell happened to the sidewalk?"
Quietly spoken, Lorelei had to swallow out of nervousness. There was a line that stretched from the auditorium and turned off of DeWale Avenue to the sidewalk on the same block. There were many cars parked on the road as well; why would so many people come to fail?
'The same reason you and Drummer Boy came, Lore. To try to make it big.' Lorelei wondered if it was something she would normally think, though probably not. Maybe what Stefanie had said about her moon hair-clip was true all that time ago: "I'll be with you so long as you keep this." That was a childish dream, though; the nineteen-year-old knew all too well that the brunette with matching pine eyes that she called her sister had been dead for fourteen years now, even though its pearly blue enamel showed on her not-as-elegantly-styled hair. Lorelei hated being compared to a certain Pokemon character just because of her name and the fact she was a redhead, but she couldn't afford to dye her hair while working at her current job, which required some sort of decent presentation and therefore wouldn't even let her cartilage piercings be worn on the clock. Lorelei also had to take unpaid leave to attend this, but it's not like this was going to become her career... she was just trying out to have some fun and hang out with Drummer Boy-
He was out of the car already, staring at her through the windshield. "Hey, if you want to get there as quick as you can, I suggest you get a move on, Lorelei!" he yelled, motioning with his hand to come.
"Coming!" she yelled as she made a mental inventory of her tote. Audition form and waiver, check. The karaoke version of her audition song, still there. Wallet for any needed money to pay for fluids pre-audition, good. As she got out of Drummer Boy's car, which was starting to catch minuscule snowflakes, Lorelei realized the inventory did not include her confidence. That was not as easy to come by, and she wasn't sure if the moon would give her any luck as she quickly walked to the back of the line with Drummer Boy.------------ Entering the building, she settled down in an uncomfortable chair to wait, and given a number: 200. It was only 'she,' however. A representative told them that only one was allowed to put in their form at 12:41, since they were running out of space in the building and did not want to break fire code. Drummer Boy, against Lorelei's wishes, left her behind, giving her luck as he left.
Once it hit about 1:10, the applications were filtered: Application 200 was not rejected, so she was left to wait, and given a new number: 42.
As the numbers were called and the people went one by one (or even by five, one of the groups was!), Lorelei was shivering much like she was cold, but it was pure anxiety. "If someone were actually with me, you idiotic representative, I'd feel much better!" she told herself under muttered breath. She did remember wanting to sing a long time ago, in early high-school. It went off the radar once the young adult learned of how hard it was to enter as well. Now she had that chance; maybe she'd make it? 'No, you wouldn't make it, Lore, it's a small sea with only a few fish selected to be in it!' By the time Lorelei thought to make any attempt to remember the words of the song she planned to sing-
"Number 42, please come backstage," crackled a loudspeaker.
Her throat went dry, and the auburn-haired girl's nervousness had became visible in her face, what with the skin becoming a pinkish tint on her face. Wearing purple eyeliner today (along with the usual eyeshadow; this one was a light golden brown today) did not make Lorelei look any better under harsh stage lighting.
Three people sat in the first row: two females and one male, holding clipboards and pens like they were the tools of the three Fates (although they metaphorically were, when you thought about it). The male judge was first to say something.
"Lorelei Driscoll is your name, correct?" he asked in a bored tone. Her response was an "Er, yes, sir. I... I also have a stage name as well?" This came out as more of a question than it was a statement, although the male did answer as it was a statement: "Yes, Liquid Crystal."
Having the same initals as a type of technology did help out sometimes.
The first girl, a perkier-seeming person than the man, had asked a few questions regarding what kinds of stuff she would want to do if accepted - "Rock music is what I want to delve into," Lorelei responded, wondering when she could sing and get it over with. The last woman had asked for Miss Driscoll to say what she was performing. A few moments later, Lorelei replied "'If you only knew,' by Shinedown." Lorelei took another few moments for deep breaths as the judges started to play the music, the beats of the snare in the beginning of the track preparing Lorelei for the first few lyrics, which started pretty well. The middle was getting better, but there was a small hitch in the second chorus: Where the line was "It's 4:03 and I can't sleep," the last word was missing the 'p' ending. Other than that, there were pitch problems, but Lorelei made a decent attempt to infuse emotion into the song. The pitch problems could be easily blamed on a male's vocals being sung by a female, Lorelei hoped.
"Thank you, Miss Driscoll," replied the second woman, who seemed like a rather no-nonsense-cut-to-the-chase sort. "You may leave, and we will send you a response within the next few weeks." "Th-thanks, miss." A hope-squashed Lorelei spoke with a worn breath, before putting the microphone back in its stand and walking offstage. 'Back to dreary old life as a college student. So much for that.'
"This young girl might be asking for a deathwish in fame," Miss Perkier-than-coffee said in a bit of a haze once the door closed behind said girl, "but her voice..." ---The Aftermath: COMING SOON---
