Help me out, please? ^_^ I'm working on a design. It's a secret. ninja

I'm wondering what percentage of goths and lolitas might be vegan? I can get real leather cheaper than ultraleather (purely non-animal, easy care, but feels like lambskin). So I'm wondering how well real leather would sell. It's a bag, not a corset or anything. If the design pans out, we'd like to set up our own little business selling a few on ebay to make a few bucks. We could always make leather and a few ultraleather, but then would vegans be offended that those would cost a considerable amount more?

This is a design marketed to female (mostly) goths, punks, and lolitas, so how many are vegan? ^_^

I, personally, dont mind. I'm not a vegitarian. I think its sort of disrespectful not to eat it/use it since it gave its life for you.

I would have to say that while I am in favor of the ultraleather for a dress... I would prefer real leather for a hand bag. That is purely my fashion sense talking right there. I'm not vegitarian but I'm also not a fan of leather. I would think that it would be nice to give people the choice of the leather hand bag or to have a ultraleather one for a higher price.

im a meat eater all the way.
its how i was raised and also because im a work out maniac, i could not bulid muscle or with out the sweet meat.

i like leather, i own a bunch of leather clothes (odily though i dont beleive any of my shoes are leather- and i own 4 pairs of boots!)

if the regular leater is cheaper you can always just say its vegi leather rofl

also i best fit in the goth catagory.

I'm not vegan, I like meat. I couldn't live without it. xd

Well, I probably could, but I have no ethical issues with leather.

Even when I was vegan, it was for health reasons, so I still wore leather and the like...

My main concerns are always, "Which is easier to care for?" and "Which costs less?"

There will always be the vegans who are very very into animal rights, and they will not approve when leather is used. All the same, there will also be the vegans who are simply that way for health reasons, see no offense in leather, and prefer whatever costs least. Of course, ease of care is always nice too... ^_^

That's pretty odd that fake leather is more than real. eek

I guess real then. At least i could brag to people that it was all real. Like it was some Louis Vutton or something. xd

My grandfater's a hunter, so I must say I'm not anti-meat. I am anti-killing-animals-just-for-the-heck-of-it though, but luckily my grandfather's one of those hunters that uses just about EVERYTHING of his kills. Since he's a cobbler (shoemaker in layman's terms) he tans the hides of dear or uses the fur of other animals in his shoes. He also gives/ sells the meat to friends, and there's a poor family that lives down the street that he gives alot of the meat too. They freeze it and turn it into jerky and stuff so they can spend their money on bills or clothes or something.
As far as the bag, well, my penny-pinching miserly ways are gonna have to say go for the leather.

I'm not vegan but, I am cheap.
I'd say go ahead and use real leather.

I'm vegetarian.
The only thing keeping me from being vegan is that I eat eggs and honey and (occassionally as I have a low lactose tolerance) milk.
I would not buy a purse made out of leather.
I suggest you make both leather and non-leather purses. That way you can cater to everyone (although I'd prefer it if you used vinyl instead of ultraleather D: , but I'd buy the ultra too).

I'm quite sure you did this already, but for vegetarians & all crafters out there;

Most fake leather is made out of oil. Oil starts wars that don't just kill a few semi-domesticated animals, but can wreak the whole enviroment and cause loads of human suffering.

Use real leather if you must use leather at all. Don't waste oil. x.o;

KitsunekoChan's point is interesting too... never thought of that confused
In fact, we humans can't make anything without destroying another thing, can we? neutral

Well, about the practical side of the question... if you are making the bags by request, offer a choice of real leather or ultraleather, with its respective prices. 3nodding
