She was mentored by Spottednose, the Deputy, who became Clan Leader not long after Breezepaw became Breezefoot. She took her first apprentice when she was 20 Moons and when Rabbitear, the Deputy, died, she was named Deputy. When Breezefoot was 29 Moons, Spottedstar lost her last life to Greencough, and Breezestar took her place as Leader.
