Well, quick notes about each class in general(all my opinion):

Explorer classes:
-warriors(Weapons include Swords, Axes, Spears, Pole Arms, and "Blunt Weapons") are good and inexpensive, but the skills they have are hardly noticeable, and you'll be using your power slash/slash blast most of your life, but you get better attacks 3rd job.
-Bowman(Bows and Crossbows) are also good, with each job getting great stuff, like in second job you get a buff that makes it so you don't use up arrows/cross bolts!
-Thieves(Claws[Throwing stars] and Daggers are a mixed bag for most, most people will say assassins(those who use claws) are much better than bandits, but I disagree, bandits get more attacks, and a better attack range(Assassins have to wait till 3rd job till their 2nd attack, while bandits get flashy attacks every job, and Bandits range is stable, while sins even 4th job can hit around 100 and then hit a couple thousand in damage.) But Assassins get flash jump, which is the faster way to get around, also the best stuff in terms of attack at lv. 10, IF your funded enough, also 4th job+ they get picked for many boss runs as long as they have enough hp.
-Mages(Wands and Staffs, doesn't much make a difference which you choose.) Now here's my favorite, All three jobs get a way different training style, while ice/lightning is for mobbing, fire/poison is more alone, and cleric is a hybrid, though partying is suggested. For beginner people in this day and age of maple, Ice/lightning and Cleric are easy while Fire/Poison is hard to train, even though Cleric only gets one "attack" skill(and it's not suggested you put any into it((Coming from a 147 bishop)) and really, only uses heal and claw, has good training spots where heal HURTS monsters, whereas Fire/Poison only can rely on monster carnival(by mosts standards) WARNING: Mages classes always consume the most pots, this is lessened by clerics and a 2nd job MP eater, but in 4th job you'll be killing so much mp, you'll be spending 10 ~ 20 mil. per repot(stocking up on potions).
-Pirates(Knuckles and Guns) Well, Brawlers are like a Warrior, but more close combat, and gunslingers are like Assassins but different skills, more attack skills, but in exchange less bullets power, gunslinger bullets have a level req. higher than 10 all of them except for one, whereas the 3rd best star for assassin has only a req. of lv. 10, so most gunsligers will look weaker and are often bested by assassins(though most of maplers are assassins at this point.)

Cygnus
- Dawn Warrior(Swords) Pretty much, warriors but more mp useage, since they get more attack skills and more emphasis on mobbing instead of soloing(though spearman are used to mobbing instead of soloing)
- Wind Archer(Bows) A few skills changed around, but not much changed besides style of play.
- Night Walker(Claws) A couple skills changed around, a couple good skills added, really not much else.
- Blaze Wizard(Wand/Staffs) Pretty much a combination of Ice/Lightning and Fire/Poison with only the Fire Element. This class is pretty awesome to me(Coming from a lv. 120 Blaze Wizard.) With awesome skills each job, which from 3rd job and on, the best skill you get grants you hunting monsters WAYYY out of your range and makes it easy training for you.
- Thunder Breaker( Knuckles) A funner and better version of the Brawler(much like Dawn Warriors are funner than fighters) These takes Brawlers and put in a lightning element and better skills.

Legends
-Aran(Pole Arm) A combination of the explorer formula, Cygnus formula and Warrior class, where they have a gimmick of the more combos you rack up, more powerful you get, and makes them almost pure mobbers too with a powerful punch. Now, why I said it was a combination is cause, they get to level 200 max, they get fourth job skills, yet no second job choice(like cygnus, they only have 1 job path) and like cygnus, they only use 1 weapon(I count wands and staffs as one weapon cause they make no difference which you use.)

Sorry for the wall of text and hope I helped more than confused.

WOW! Thanks for the information!

Hope it all helps in desciding which job you want, and the best tips I can give you are pretty simple.
-Make friends, i've been around maple for years, and still friends are my greatest resources(especially since I never know jack about the economy lol). They can help you, prevent you from making a mistake, and overall make the experience you have at maplestory better.
-Have fun, don't be afraid of trying stuff out. When I began to level up my bishop I looked at a few skills, seeing his best and planning out what my plan was going to be for him skill points wise, and even at 147, he used to get mocked for not putting into this one skill I thought was useless, yet now I always hear that it is useless and now to put into it.
