The first thing that had triggered 'waking up' that morning was the feeling that Asteria Georgelas was NOT feeling good and that she had a need to go puke. Which, while not an entirely uncommon feeling, had been enough of one for her to be up at about 4 in the morning, lurking over a toilet with the feeling that she was going to eventually take out her insides.

Uuuugh. Where was her stomach? Somewhere in that disgustingly colored water... which was more of a blur from hell, as she leered down at the probably familiar sight for the alcoholic. It was..

special, to some extent. But no, after what had felt like 20 minutes of leering at the toilet water and purging her insides several times amongst that, the halfbreed swallowed down the rancid taste in her mouth and rose to her feet, trekking down the hall to again flump down on the bed, immediately cocooning in the blankets on it.

Yes, plural. She had stolen the one off of the other be in the night to curl up in, groaning in some semblance of agony as her attempts to warm herself went in vain.

The sound of Asteria's sickness went unnoticed when it came to the next room over, as even the super-Koshka, Kanda, was in bed, not exactly puking his guts now and desperately needing him some warmz, but at least having the feeling of going to puke all over the bathroom.

Part of this was in the fact that ASTERIA's sounds that he could hear making the idea unappealing, the other part that was throwing a wrench in his gears was that he had actually made motions to go and loom over the ice box to cool himself off.

For the record, it wasn't working.

Fortunately for SQUALO, he hadn't actually picked up the bug yet.

Yet.

He'd be down by the end of the day..

and Jade?

He was sleeping like a log. A very amused log who knew what was going on around him. Fu fu fu!Or rather he was laying in bed, listening to the sounds of bustling little feet of his companions.

"Hmm, I wonder if Shae's infliction if catching on...."

... Now Yossarian-Lang Romanovitch Vandrooghenbroeck the Thirteenth was no pushover when it came to bodily strength or immune vitality, but he awoke feeling very off, and knew it from the moment he first stirred that morning, frowning all the way.

Granted, the fact that he'd spent yet another night getting acquainted with the living room couch did nothing to make the situation better (in fact, it only gave him a kink in his spine), but that was entirely beside the point and, stubbornly unwilling to cave against whatever happened to be wrenching his insides, the dark male got to his feet with every intention of trying the whole "business as usual" routine...

Which was about when he realized he wasn't the only one suffering anew either. Just great. He had little doubt; surely, that retching from the bathroom could've only been Aster's.

It was a very bad sign of the day to come and, resolving with a whole new passion NOT to let things get the better of him (even 'sick' now, he'd have to be well enough for tending the sicker), he eventually took the initiative to knock on the door to 'their' room, clearing his throat (so rough, gross) and peering in. "... How are you fairing in there, Aster?"

Would she even be able to get herself to the caravan without dropping over dead?

... Shae sure looked ready for crawling onto death's doorstep already-- and she hadn't even gotten out of bed. Unfortunately for her (and everyone else), her fever hadn't broken in the night; if anything, the symptoms had only gotten worse, and she barely had the strength to lift her head off the pillow, let alone drag her sorry carcass out of bed to do anything productive.

It was just... everything hurt. It all ached. Her muscles were weak and hot, her skin felt horribly clammy, her eyes could barely focus on the frantic golem hovering right in front of her face... Little did she knew that her misery had spread like wildfire in the night, of course, not even possessing strength enough to think beyond the fact that she felt sick, and would've probably lost her stomach contents in a very funny mimic of Aster... if anything had been there to begin with.

Even Hanna, the supposedly invincible little therapist, hadn't escaped the plague unscathed, in the end. She may have been in the kitchen, idling at the counter and stirring a pot full of boiling... well, it looked like some kind of grain, but that wasn't important. There was just a certain pallor about her, a hazy, unfocussed look about those usually clear eyes, that suggested something was a little off.

Or hell, if that didn't do it, the dry, unfortunate cough she kept muffling into her sleeve (it was bad etiquette and hygiene to get germs in the food) was sign enough.

(Her lack of harassing Kanda in the slightest at the icebox was the third strike, if not beneficial for his sake.)

Aaand to make everything better, of course, Takeshi had wasted no time whatsoever to show up that morning, poking his nose in the door with the first sliver of light and all but beaming when he stepped inside, his cheer apparently back in full swing.

"Morning, everyone!" he called through the place blithely... much to collective dismay, swearing, and throbbing headaches.

The day promised to be a fun one!

Aster almost immediately groaned at the sound of tapping on the door, her ears drooping at the sound of Yossarian's voice, before she attempted to crawl out of the covers, jut to tangle herself further into them. Hmmmm, that wasn't going to he happening, now was it? Nope, not happening.

Alas!

She fussed a bit under the covers, attempting to not whimper in her own pathetic-self-established misery, finally rolling over to frown at the door. Not because she wanted to frown at Yossarian through it, but because right now, voices were piercing through EVERYTHING.

>8C

"
Not too great...." she managed to answer, before breaking into a fit of horrid sounding coughing.

Hack hack hack hack wheeze.

Yeah, it wasn't the best sound for ANYBODY to be hearing at this point, but Kanda couldn't hear it at all. He was too busy being bothered by the fact that Hanna wasn't commenting on his 'cooling down his body' status in the least.

Or only half-so.

He was only really 'fully' aware of the fact Hanna was there, not so much what she was doing, so when Takeshi suddenly entered and spoke with a voice that pierced everything, Kanda winced and practically shoved his face into the icebox.

NNNNGH.

Squalo, who had entered on Takeshi's tail, was more amused by the sight of Kanda faceplanting into the ice than anything else.

"Well!" he said, walking up behind the other gray-tabby and slapping him on the back in a hearty manner.

Fu fu.

"What's the problem here?" he asked.

Jade, who had finally decided to come and join his companions, took a moment to notice how under the weather those of his own group were, at least in terms of previous travel and species, before noting that Squalo seemed to be fine.

Hmmm..

Well! That would work out for the best!

"Well, I think it's time that I went and got Fabio so we could start some trips to the caravan~"
PostPosted: Sat Feb 13, 2010 4:06 pm

The tone of voice by itself had been enough for confirming his worst fears, though the sound of coughing that followed made him grimace all the more. Yes, Yossarian was certain now; she was already beyond any hope of carrying her own weight (literally or metaphorically) in the day to come... which meant he would have to pick up the slack, somehow.

"... Well, we'll have to make due with it," he said grimly, his tone low, perhaps with the recognition of her inevitably sensitive ears. Still, he slipped into the room to get a better look at her, and slipped over to the bed without another word, putting a hand on her forehead testingly.

He no longer had the luxury of giving her a cold shoulder, so there was no point to keeping his distance. Sure enough, though, even he could tell she had a fever-- which said something, considering how his own body probably had the same issue. He'd just manage to ignore it for a while.

"I'll fetch a cold cloth," he said simply, and lifted his palm to go do just that.

... He did not, however, expect to see so many bodies crowding the kitchen upon his arrival... or Kanda with his head shoved into the icebox. Dammit, of all the people to catch this wretched flu, even he--

"Don't tell me you have it too," he interrupted the friendly 'cousin' banter, striding into the place and just frowning grimly. The announcement seemed to snap Hanna out of whatever trance she'd been in, too, actually giving a visible flinch before she looked over her shoulder, smiling far too tiredly.

"Ah, Mister Yossarian, you're up..." What, had she not NOTICED until just then? What had happened to her usual cheer? "Breakfast is about ready, on that note. Just some weak porridge, but..."

"Oh, isn't that the kind of thing sick people eat?" Takeshi inquired blithely, but then suddenly stopped in the doorway, looked around... and something clicked, all of a sudden frowning with deep concern. "... You all don't look so great, guys..."

Well no s**t SHERLOCK. Yossarian could've easily backhanded him for that kind of stupidity, but he didn't, because he had to cough instead (into his sleeve), and fish for a washcloth in the cabinets to soak.

"Need any help?" Takeshi offered clumsily, only to be snapped at.

"I'm perfectly fine with such menial tasks, thank you," the Koshka snapped back at him... which only seemed that much less convincing when his voice cracked.

"... What about you guys?" Takeshi turned back on Kanda and Hanna instead, scratching the back of his head and just smiling it off. "You... uh... doin' alright there?"

Aster had managed some sort of weak purr at the feeling of Yossarian's hand against her forehead, leaning into his palm before he'd gotten up to leave, leaving the butterfur to frown at the door. W-well, he'd be back.

So she just snuggled in to wait patiently.

If she'd tried to get up and follow after him lik the pathetic lovesick female she was, she wouldn't have really gotten anywhere at all. He would have sent her back to bed anywa-

COUGH COUGH HACK.

Nnnnnngh.

Kanda sat up and frowned at first his cousin, and then the other swordsman. "It's merely a spell from a lack of proper sleep." he said as a simple cover, pausing in watching Yossarian, before motioning to one of the drawers by Hanna.

"Cloth is in there."

Oh ho!

However, after that, he closed the box to get a glass of water, tossing a few innocent cubes of ice into it before heading off again, back to his and Shae's room.. well, to get some fluids into his female counterpart, opening the door quietly, if only for his own ears.

"Are you awake?"

I COME BARING WATAH.

Squalo frowned as his cousin took his leave, before looking at what it was Hanna had made..

and frowning even more. Nnngh. He would have preferred it, if only a little, for the butterfurred woman to be cooking again. Alas.

However, before Squalo could comment, Jade did;

"Well, perhaps while you kids are getting yourselves woken up properly, our two new helping hands can help me get Fabio and make the first trip to the caravan, hmm?" he offered as a direction of entertainment, patting Takeshi on the shoulder.

Squalo frowned a bit.

"Fine."
PostPosted: Sun Feb 14, 2010 12:20 am

"... Right." In place of a thanks that would've been WAY too awkward, Yossarian just nodded to Kanda's odd comment of helpfulness, shifted over to the appropriate drawer (though getting closer to Hanna still unnerved him) and, sure enough, managed to locate a clean cream colored washcloth in little time at all.

From there it was just a speedy dip in some sink water and a dunk into the icebox his rival had just abandoned, figuring that it wouldn't take more than a few seconds in the freezing chill to cool things off enough, grab a drink glass, and then, without idling a moment longer, it was off and out agai--

"... Here, Mister Yossarian. At least take it with you."

Okay, so he actually had a couple of bowls shoved at him before he could make his grand escape, but Hanna didn't say anything else to antagonize, and once she'd divvied that out, she seemed 'content' (or worn out) enough to just divert back to stirring the remainder of the pot,

(... Mostly because he didn't want to deal with the therapist any more, or Takeshi or Squalo or Jade or... whomever, despite having apparently found some new outlet to occupy themselves with.)

"Oh, sure," of which on that note, Takeshi seemed thrilled to help when his efforts were finally received with any semblance of open-armed enthusiasm, bobbing a swift agreement to Jade's proposal and retreating on his tail like a happy dog. Sure, he might have felt a little bad about leaving all the sick people behind (even he could tell they were on their last legs), but this was all just to help them out in the end, wasn't it?

Yeah, so of course it was the right then to do!

"So... how exactly are we gonna do this?" he did ask once they'd gotten out the door, though: a fair inquiry to be sure. Just making sure the whole herd MADE it to their rendezvous in the first place seemed like it'd be an even bigger task now than before.

But back to Yossarian once more, he'd returned to 'his' room in swift order, carrying a little more than he'd bargained for, but at least having gotten what he originally needed. He didn't say much of anything when he went, just slipped over to the nightstand to set the porridge bowls down, and then the water glass, and then the cloth-- ... though that was folded and put on Aster's forehead instead.

"... That therapist is trying to push breakfast on us all," he mumbled by way of a 'greeting' at her, not even particularly keen on the thought of food for himself, though sadly, he knew he needed it. "... Are you willing to try and risk this..." He had to pause, and leer at the strange fair, and even prodded at it with the spoon floating at its edge "... Unfortunate mush?"

It really did look like the kind of bland, flavorless, boiled-cardboard-starch-and-nutrients that sick people ate to avoid dying, huh. Well... it was probably for the better-- though it didn't make him feel any less able either.

Too bad Hanna hadn't caught Kanda before he left to pass him off some food, though, since he and Shae probably needed it too, though the latter didn't even seem coherent enough to eat, given how delayed her response to that question was.

Very groggily, and dryly, she mumbled something that only vaguely sounded like "Yes, Sir", and followed it with a very feeble, ragged, downright pathetic coughing.

She'd slept for so many hours, but none of it had felt restful at all, and she was still so damned exhausted after the fact, too...

It was frustrating and disheartening, to say the least. And to think, she hadn't even realized the viral ripple effect, either.

The sound of Shae's cough did prompt Kanda to have to swallow up one of his own, his ears flattening a little bit before he eventually made his way over to Shae's bedside, pausing to stroke her hair..

and having to force himself to NOT recoil at how cold she was to the touch. Wow, that was NOT a good sign.

He did, however, make a point to -slowly- adjust the girl into some what of a sitting-up position so he could cautiously offer her the cup of water, prepared for the fact that he probably WOULD have to keep a hold on her to keep her from completely keeling over.

"You should probably drink this.

Don't worry about packing up your things, I'll do that for you...." he offered awkwardly. With everybody as out-of-shape as they were, was it safe for them to be travelling that day?

Hell, if JADE had been sick as well...

but...

he couldn't imagine Jade getting under the weather. Hmm.

Jade chuckled at Takeshi's question. "Well, if we take a trip to get the kid's stuff there, then we can focus on carrying on less-able-bodied parties in a second trip." he explained with a flourish of his hand.

Squalo just frowned at the suggestion, following along on Takeshi's (literal) tail.

"So we're still travelling with all of them looking like that?" he asked, causing Jade to frown lightly.

"If they're not feeling well, the city-atmosphere is bad for them at the given time. THey DO need to get out into the fresher air."

... Somewhat made sense.

Where as Aster actually cringed just a bit when the cold touched her head, again attempting to lean into Yossarian's hand for the momentary contact before settling into her pillow.

Prrrprrrprrr..rrr..krrrkjdkrr...Nnnngh.

Aster eyed the bowl that had been brought in with Yossarian and to an extent felt the need to actually vomit. NnnnnnNNnghf;l.

"i-I think I should drink something to settle my stomach first..." she mumbled quietly, fidgetting uncomfortably underneath her blankets. Man, when was the last time she'd just been sick-sick? Not injury-sick, just..

YUCK sick?

The fact that Shae didn't even seem to notice how deteriorated Kanda was in the space of their interaction seemed to speak of just how lacking she was in the awareness department, too-- usually so very astute to the small details, now reduced to little more than a groggy, scarcely-coherent ball of heavy limbs and lethargy. Even if she did try to 'help' in getting herself up, it wasn't much, so weak that holding much of any posture seemed impossible.

What had happened to just getting better in the night, again?...

"... O-oh... o... kay." She didn't even seem to realize he had a water glass until it was right in front of her, and when she tried to take it, her fingers barely had the stability to grasp the handle. All that seemed to keep her going was the numb reflex to follow along and do what was asked of her, clumsily getting at least a swallow or two down, with difficulty.

And he'd mentioned something about... packing, which didn't click at first. Packing meant they'd leave, but how they'd manage that was beyond her. Apparently she wasn't going to have much of a hand in getting ready (so he said), but... uh. Yes, she couldn't think straight. She was drinking. She'd gotten down enough to pass it back, right?

Funny thing about cats and purring, too. They always did it for attention... but sometimes, it was more like a cry for help than a plea to be loved, and Yossarian couldn't help but wonder how the pathetic woman in front of him would hold up... if at all. Maybe she was a little stronger and better off than some, but still, it wasn't good.

"... Here, then." He couldn't blame her for being hesitant to touch the bowl, either; hell, his stomach wrenched at the thought too-- but she needed something, and that meant water, so the glass was promptly taken up and held in front of her with every expectation to take it. "At the very least, stay hydrated."

In the meanwhile, he'd just... deal with his own internal grievances quietly and pack their bags up, what with being the more able body and all. This entailed staying in the same room, of course, just slipping off the bed to crouch down and throw a few things together in piles.

"Do you think you'll be able to walk to the rendezvous point?" he asked over his shoulder, though, making a very particular, if not guilty point of glancing back at her every few seconds to make certain she was still holding herself up... and hadn't passed out or something.

Could she even get out of BED without passing out, for that matter?

Transportation via legs NOT their own was looking increasingly more useful by the second, even if Takeshi didn't know it, trotting along beside Jade with a spring in his step despite some clear (or rather, transparent) concerns.

"Cities around here can be a little harsh, I guess," he nodded. "A lot of you guys seems kind of sensitive to that stuff, don't you?..." What, he'd actually NOTICED something about the Koshka, too?

Then again, considering how fast the whole furry lot was dropping like flies (back 'home', even Hanna had wound up forcing herself to sit down at the breakfast table instead of tipping over), it was pretty hard to miss.

... Speaking of hard to miss, out and not so far away, the caravan was already preparing itself for heading out: a solid six (covered) wagons tethered to sturdy, dust-colored mule-like creatures, all being loaded with armful after armful of stuff by at least a dozen Xeric. Some were massive creatures, others a little more slight, though they all seemed somewhat ragged in their appearance... sans one.

Yes, the one golden-green male who'd just finished his last load, clearly not the type to let himself fall behind... which was saying something, given how much time he had left to kill now, huh.

He had to wonder-- were those kids even up yet? Would they be there on time? Intact? Alright to go? Alive?

Maybe tracking them down would've been a fair idea, just to make sure. He seemed to debate it seriously enough.

Hey, she HAD managed, which was about what Kanda could be grateful for at that point, but after a few minutes of packing things up, turning, in a similarly paranoid manner to make sure Shae didn't immediately KEEL over, or rather, keel over AT ALL.

However, once she was willing to relinquish the glass, Kanda took it from her, setting it aside on the bed table, before setting her bag on the opposite bed of her, and getting back to packing up his own. HnnnNNngh. Alas, as crappy as his insides felt, he had to keep himself working.

Working..

Working...

Hnnngh. His insides were working on revolting against him again. Hnnnghflasjdflk;af. Grumble grumble hate.

Ugh.

"I'll go see how our planning is going soon..."

Aster mewled weakly when she was offered the glass of water, shifting to TRY and keep herself cocooned while sitting up. HmmMmmmm. However, she managed, at least on her own, taking the glass when it was offered and sipping at it pathetically. Sip sip.

Sip sip...

Nnnnnngh.

Ugh, her stomach was NOT really accepting anything very well, but at least the water was tasteless and textureless, allowing her to not have her insides taken out by it, managing to take out a whole fourth of the glass on her first try!

Woo woo!

Though immediately afterwards, her stomach threw a fit... but at -least- kept it down. Auugh. She just wanted to curl up and bawl. Bawl like a baby.

She was miserable.

"I can try, at the very least." She answered, pausing afterwards to hack and cough again. Auuugh.

Auuuuguhgh;fjslfk.

Sniff.

Jade chuckled. "Ah, they're just young. THeir immunities aren't as experienced as they should be~ They'll adapt~" he answered, causing Squalo to frown and add on;

"Or they'll die."

Jade waved a hand with some amusement. Ah ha ha!

"That's a real possibility as well~"

Managing... was probably a bit of an overstatement, in the end-- or at least, that bare minimum was all Shae could handle no matter how hard she tried, caving, in the end, to just slump back over once more as soon as she'd been freed of her drinking obligation. She didn't even try to put up the usual front of being 'fine' or offer her help.

She just layed there, pathetic, out of breath, and weak. Too weak. She hated being so aware of that.

"... R-right..." And when he mentioned the planning thing, it was just a 'usual' obligatory response, too cracked and strained and altogether quiet to count for much of anything.

It almost would've been better if this sickness was just thanks to a bad clock, in some sick, ironic way. At least then, she would've known exactly how to fix it, and that she'd start to get better as soon as the parts were repaired. This... was unsettling in a lack of that magical 'cure'.

(God, she just wanted to sleep, too. She was so tired. Resting her eyes while he went about his business wouldn't be terrible, right?)

Aster sounded too much like a kitten there for Yossarian's ears: the weak, fragile, sickly kind of kitten. He didn't like it one bit, and with his back turned to her, he grimaced miserably, fighting off the urge to wince when her coughing jarred the atmosphere.

... It almost tempted him to do the same, but he wouldn't allow for it. He was strong, dammit. Too strong to let some scraggly foreign pathogen get the better of him!

"Good," he affirmed flatly to her answer, wasting no time (or energy) in getting the lot of their supplies wrangled back together. The fact that they'd been partially mugged of their supplies actually seemed beneficial now, with a little less to carry and a slightly lighter load. It didn't take him more than five minutes to really get things arranged.

Now, he just needed t-- .... oh, his bowl.

Yes, at the very least, he grabbed his bowl of misfortune and sat down with it on the corner of her bed, woefully forcing down the first few, unpleasant, now tepid bites.

"... Will you be able to dress yourself?" he had to ask when it suddenly occurred to him just how deficient she might be. God, was he going to have to do everything for her?

Only Jade Curtiss could've made that statement with a straight face, too, managing to alarm even Takeshi, who frowned with noticable dismay.

"Man, that'd be pretty bad..." Surely, though, Jade just HAD to be joking... right? Yeah, exactly! "But... I'm sure they'll all be fine! I've known a ton of guys to get better from stuff like this."

Yeah, though the 'guys' he knew were probably Kanus and not Koshka-- but anyway, at least it wasn't too dreadfully far to the stable where Fabio was being kept, either, so they made good time (perhaps twenty minutes or so) in arriving.

Now, it was just to use their gallant steed in shuttling, right? They'd just head back to the Inn, rally troops, and start on their merry way!

... Or uh. Something like that.

(Takeshi was quite possibly too optimistic for his own good, given the fact that they'd have to deal with at least two or three completely incapacitated bodies, and a couple of semi-invalids too stubborn to admit they were failing hardcore.)

Well.. -that- had been a bit of a default answer, but Kanda didn't complain for having an answer AT ALL, instead just patting Shae on the head again, once he'd packed up both of the bags, and heading back out into the kitchen to loom at the table.

And massage his temples. HIs insides felt like hell, his HEAD felt like hell..

"It's starting to seem like less and less of a good idea.."

She wasn't TRYING to sound so pathetic, it was just what was coming out, unfortunately... so now, she'd prrprrr at him, or rather, -attempt- to prrprr. It was becoming a quieter and quieter sound, progressively, but when prompted about her ability to dress herself, Aster paused in it.

...
....

UmmMmmm....

Aster fumbled with the blankets she'd wrapped herself in to get out, finally having fumbled out of the covers and onto her feet, and not exactly in the most confident manner either. But she was.. somewhat stable for a moment before she sat right back down again, her ears drooping.

"I'll manage." she answered, before eying the bowl of -stuff- that Yossarian had, before sighing.

"Though I think I should attempt to eat too...." SIGH.

Yes, of -course- Jade Curtiss was joking...maybe. Then again, neither of these two young fellows would have been able to tell anything different. Unless they were able to pick up on his suspicious mannerisms so fluently~

But somehow, he doubted that.

However, unfortunately for Squalo, when they DID find this 'Fabio', there was an immediate attraction....

the horse was all about chewing on his hair.

Chew chew chew.

"AUUUGH!"

Jade was more amused by this than he should have been, however. "Well, it looks like he likes you!" he chuckled. Squalo just frowned at him.

Shae hadn't responded to that final comment, but just the fact that she'd already managed to pass out again (well, more or less) said enough on her behalf. Calling all of this a bad idea was like passing off shattered bones as a simple flesh wound; even calling the whole disaster an "understatement" felt like an understatement in itself.

They were going out across the desert with more people sick than not, with no real information on their destination, how long it would take to get there, or if this mystical Castellon would have any proper supplies to keep them going upon arrival.

For all they knew, they'd be eaten by Xerics as soon as they got there.

But uh, digressing from that and shifting elsewhere, Yossarian still had his reservations about Aster's ability to maintain herself... but at least she could get out of bed, which was a positive sign, and she didn't seem quite ready to pass out on her feet.

"... Alright, then." So he gave her the benefit of the doubt, but still reached over, grabbed that second bowl again... and with a sigh, offered it. "... It has the taste and consistency of waterlogged cardboard, but... it's tame enough."

Yes, tame enough for sicky little stomachs like hers-- and his, too, even if he didn't want to admit it. He figured she could choke down a few bites while he finished up his gloppy bowl of misfortune (it was unpleasant, but necessary) at his own bed-- you know, since he had just enough courtesy to vacate hers and face the wall for whenever she decided to change out.

It was dull, and mundane, and a little queasy and quite frankly, he felt like they had little to do but wait and suffer. Where was Jade? Shouldn't he have been back yet? The dark male was getting grumpily impatient... but he didn't have to worry too much. The cavalry would come back.

Albeit with one of its members a little more slobbery-headed than he wished.

"What a cool horse!" Takeshi, of course, just thought that Fabio was the bee's knees when he saw him, patting his new friend's flank and just laughing whenever Squalo was 'showered' in affection. "Ah, yeah, this'll be great! He can carry anyone who doesn't wanna walk..." Then, another thought.

"I can get someone too, I bet. You all are pretty light for a ride!"

(The inn occupants should've been DREADING their return, but nope, too late to run!)

Hanna was actually the first to pick up on their arrival, still sitting (well, slouching) at the table and scooting the remains of her porridge around the bowl: now quite a bit colder than it had started, and even less appetizing. She'd gotten down a fair share of it, though there was no harm in leaving a little... besides, that had been the front door opening, right?

The fact that she hadn't even tried to spark up a conversation with Kanda (and didn't even twitch at his own mumbled commentary) seemed rather unusual, perhaps even upsetting, though she did perk up the slightest bit and muster a thin smile.

"... Sounds like we may have some stray company returning," she mused in a dry, weak tone. "Are... you and Shae ready to go soon, Mister Kanda?..."

Well, that was a hell of a delayed hello to him, huh?

Was she even with it right then?

Hey, she could at LEAST dress herself! Albeit slowly and while mostly-sitting-down in the process! But -managing- was the important part, managing! Though first, she took the bowl from from Yossarian to focus on that chore.

"I wouldn't know. I've never eaten cardboard of any variety.." she mumbled, prodding at the stuff with her spoon, before taking a bite. HmmmMmmmmm. It tasted like absolutely nothing. Then again, she was so under the weather, tasteless was good. Nom nom..

Uuugghhh.. her stomach was slowly starting to fuss over her putting stuff back in it, that was for sure. And really, after about half-a-bowl's worth, Aster flumped back into the covers and groaned, curling up into a ball. Oh her tummy, it was -not- happy. ;;;

Not happy tummies made for miserable Asters... and by some sort of default, miserable everybody elses.

Though Kanda was lucky enough to NOT experience the waves of woe, instead prodding at his own bowl of food, eating it lamely. Yeah, it was food, no need to sugar coat it, even if that WOULD have given it a little bit more flavor.... which could have been good -or- bad, to an end. HmmMMmm.

His ears perked a bit when he heard the door open and then the sound of his cousin shrieking at something to leave his hair alone! Oh god. If his hair was anything like his cousin's hair, then he knew EXACTLY what it was that was trying to eat it.

Great.

Jade stepped inside calmly, noting the pair in the kitchen and offering them a slight smile.

"Well, are we packed, at least, so me and the boys can at least take the first trip to the caravan? I imagine with the girls under the weather we'll need to carry them to it as well."

HA HA.

And the boys too, probably ;D

Thank god they'd all (mostly) managed to piece themselves together by the time Jade came back, Yossarian turning an ear toward the door and grimacing internally. He knew the move was inevitable... but that didn't mean he looked forward to it in the slightest. Sure, getting away from Kanus was a good thing-- but would dealing with Xeric be better, or infinitely worse? And what cost would it take to just get there?

"...I'll be back." Naturally he had to go out and investigate the eventual 'disaster' firsthand, reflexively stiffening at the sight of Jade... and then at Squalo and Takeshi, too. They were all trouble.

"... I am, at the very least," Hanna volunteered to respond first, putting on her best smile and managing to look at least pleasant enough, though there was really no hiding her own weariness at that point. "What say you, Mister Yossarian?"

Yossarian didn't quite appreciate having attention put on him so purposely (or getting his 'cover' blown from behind), but he dealt with it. "Aster and I have done the same," he responded as plainly as he could, but alas, even he sounded a little offkey.

"Oh, great!" chirped Takeshi. "So uh... well, you all wanna come with first, I guess? That okay with you?"

"... Arrangements are hardly relevant at this point," he sighed, which was sadly true. Everything would be just as bad as everything else, "I'll... go retrieve her."

"But--"

The Kanus's offer for help was met with a partially slammed door, Yossarian clearly DEAD SET on being independent and, god forbid Aster needed assistance, he'd be the one to give it. Such stubborn will was admirable really. Stupid, but admirable.

"Aster," he announced upon his arrival-- and of course, made a pit stop to grab all their bags (how'd be manage that?) in the meanwhile. "Are you ready to leave?"

"..." With THAT 'issue' out of his hands, Takeshi passed a look back at Jade, and then a certain pair at the table. "So uh... what about you?"

"I can handle myself whenever need be," Hanna replied in a sweet, if not perfectly vague tone, putting on her best smile. "... It's all at your convenience, good sirs."

Hey, if there was one thing she excelled at, it was putting on a good front (and getting under people's skin, but that was hardly important). She was cool doing whatever, really!

And Shae? Well uh... she probably would've been the same if she was awake and all, but yeah. It was really all the ringleader's call.

Fortunately, Yossarian had NOT had to dress Asteria, who had looked up at him with a sort of vague 'innocent' look when he'd returned and asked about her ability to head out.

UmmMmmmmsfajkl.....

"As ready as I'll- " COUGH HACK "be getting...." she answered awkwardly, ears drooping ever so slightly, before she wobbled up to her feet, pressing one hand against the wall (thank god she'd found it with her depth perception having been thrown all skiddy-wonkus) to attempt some hobbling.

Hmmm. Somehow, she had the feeling that her ability to hobble all the way to the caravan was going to be lacking.. but eh.

She had food in her stomach (as much as it protested it) and she had finished off that cup of water, so hopefully she wouldn't be attempting to DIE anytime soon. HnnNnnnnghfjak;fjask;.

fjalkf.....

Kanda sighed. "I'll go-"

his attempt to follow Yossarian's lead was cut short as his immediate attempt to get up happened far too quickly and caused him to hobble... in a way his cousin took delight in! (Oh god, run, Kanda, run! IF YOU CAN!)

"Well, I think someone else should go retrieve Shae, I'll have to carry my cousin..."

Kanda hissed at him.

"I'll take care of Shae. I can walk -fine-"

Jade frowned here.

"Really, Kanda, I think you'll be better off not having to support anybody else's weight..."

THANKS.
