Has anyone heard of this new series? It's the fushigi yuugi adventure of Takiko Okuda the Preistess of Genbu. It was recently released by Shojo Beat. The first two volumes are out in the US. Personally, I find Limdo or Uruki whatever you wanna call him to be way better both looks and personality-wise than Tamahome. I also think Takiko is a stronger character than Miaka. The plot seems to capture my interest a bit more too. What do other people think about the series?

yeah, i definatly noticed that Takiko is a stronger priestess than both Miaka and Yui. She uses her powers more, and acts more like a priestess then the other two, but maybe thats because Takiko is from 1923, and back then kids were raised different. Thats what i think anyway.

In my opinion, the best priestess so far is Takiko. Plus, FY GK has better characters. MUCH better characters--Tamahome annoyed the hell out of me.
But I like Limdo, and Hikitsu...my favorite heart ^_^ He's so pretty. I like the villains, too...except Hien.
I've got Genbu Kaiden volumes 1 through 4...awaiting 5... crying

I like Takiko soooooo much better than Miaka! I mean, Miaka was so annoying, and she was such a glutton, and she couldn't fight for her life! At least Takiko can take care of herself! And I like the characters in Genbu Kaiden better too! (Except for Chichiri! whee heart blaugh ) I only read vol. 1 though, but I wanna read vol. 2! (And Seliece, how did you get 3 and 4?!)

yeah, Takiko is the only priestess so far thats actually capable to defending herself, i mean she uses a naginata for crying out loud! Yui and miaka never new how to use weapons, due to their time period, but somewhere along their adventure they could have learned something, don't you think?

rosette_jeanne blaugh takiko is so beautiful... i wanna be like her.... crying Takiko is beautiful! Much more so than Miaka I think. I'm glad to see that i'm not the only person who doesn't think Miaka's a good main character. Has anyone ever cosplayed as someone from Fushigi Yuugi Genbu Kaiden? I think I might do it at the next convention.

Takiko is starting out waaaay stronger than all three other Priestesses, as you can tell... strange though, that she ends up being the only one consumed by the god (and not returned to life like Yui).
If anyone is going to cosplay a FY: GK character to an anime convention on the east coast in America, PM me! I'll totally make the trip just so we can cosplay together and get awesome pictures. blaugh

I read 10 chapters and I think it's better than older Fushigi Yuugi.

It definitely is better than Fushigi Yuugi. But then again, you know, FY is also over 11 years old, and Yuu Watase's style has changed alot since then.
