 ~Our Story~ Having been broken apart by the evil Dr. Eggman, it's up to Sonic to put the pieces of the world back together again by retrieving the power of the chaos emeralds! In doing so, Sonic will find himself in a race against time and faced with an unusual situation that will challenge him in ways never before seen. Both day and night play different, yet important, roles in Sonic's newest quest... as the sun sets, a new adventure awakens.

A small gray and yellow figure leapt over a roof, and landed on the ground with a light "thud." She spun about, and started running in a different direction, following a narrow path. Small footprints in front of her led towards her target-- a thief. Not only had the young cat-for-hire supposed to catch the thief, the thief had also made off with her wallet. The girl leapt over a small stall, and landed right in front of the thief. "I suggest you give up now." Her target ignored the threat, and kept running. "All right. . ." An orb of lightning burst from the girl's hand, striking the thief in the back. The voltage was barely enough to stun a person, so while the thief's clothes were smoking, there was no actual harm. The lightning girl retreaved her wallet, dragged the thief to a plain building, and knocked upon the counter. "I got the thief here." "Thank you, Illumina. Here's your payment." A man with black hair handed her a small bag filled with coins. Illumina counted the coins quickly, then left without another word. After walking back out into the city, she heard a bell toll twelve times. She sighed, and said, "Midnight already? That was fast." Illumina made her way to a hotel, where she had rented a room. Having reached said room, she unlocked the door, flung it open, jumped, and landed on the bed, sprawled out, while the door slammed shut. Illumina fell asleep seconds afterwards.

Sonic had landed on Eggman's ship with one explosion. What's egghead planned this time? he thought.

The clock struck one, jolting Illumina out of her sleep. She slipped out of the bed, and leapt out the window. She dashed over the rooftops, eventually reaching a deserted lot, where a small aerial vehicle was. She slid behind the controls, and directed it on a course towards a flying fortress. She landed on the air ship, and walked towards a door. She slid a card key through a lock, and strode through the threshold into the main control room. "So, what, exactly, is it that you want me to do?" The person who hired her, Eggman, said, ""That annoying hedgehog has invaded my ship! Go dispose of him!" Illumina nodded, and walked out of the room. She started walking about, searching for the one called "Sonic."

As Sonic looked about, an army of robots had swarmed in front of him. "Pheh, piece of cake." he said using his homing attack on each of them and moved on.
