So like I said I'm going to be joining the Navy. Is there any helpful advice you could give me?
I still need to get in contact with them.. I have been putting it off way to long. I have the number saved in my cell. I can't get my self around easily, I have people that can give me a ride anytime.
So advice on picking a job, also how I go about telling the recruiter to not give me the sales man act? anything else?

make sure you do a good amount of independent study from reliable resources about what fields you're interested in. Make sure you already have both a plan, and at least one or two jobs in mind, and don't let them walk over you. That includes the recruiter and the people down at MEPS. what jobs are you looking at?

Depends on what you want to do. If you scored high on your ASVAB, the recruiter will try to fast-track you for the nuclear power program. If you don't want to do that, the choice is pertty much yours. Unless you want your career to stagnate, you should also look into CREO groups for different rates. The lower the CREO number, the better your chances for advancement. Some rates are so overmanned that it takes a miracle to advance anymore. In the meantime, here's a video that might illuminate some of your future experience. I give you, the Sailor Attitude Evolution: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6ygmjzy0hU

Yeah I took the ASVAB last two years ago back in High school and got a 51..there was another test thing when we got the scores, that gave us a list of jobs, which I got like 5 pages of them.. so a few hundred jobs to pick from and I had no idea what was going on with that... idk if 51 is a good score or not..

It's decent. Not all jobs will be open to you, though. If you think you can do better, talk to your recruiter about re-taking it.

I have just reached my 2 year mark in the Navy. And a Prime example of not always getting what you want. When i First joined i was rated AW (Aircrew) but after this that and the other thing...I was forced to rerate as a 8404 Corpsman (The kind that is right next to the marines when they deploy) I do not regreat being forced to re-rate and i have to say that i am happier doing what i am doing now. The point is you may be forced into a rate that you do not really know about or maynot even like. If that happens just grin and bear it. after a certain point you will be able to cross rate or re rate if you feel that you are not doing as well as you feel you can.
BTW Navy wide E-4 exam comming up on Wed.
